Over the last few days, a rumour has been going around with regards to a release date for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty — the anticipated expansion that's almost certainly going to appear at Summer Game Fest in June. Said rumour is based on a Polish podcast, in which the hosts kind-of-maybe-but-not-quite say that the DLC could drop in that same month.
It's certainly not implausible, but a June launch would mean that developer CD Projekt Red is banking on a very short marketing campaign. We've never been quite sold on the idea, especially since another RPG, Final Fantasy XVI, is set to dominate late June.
However, the company hasn't shut this particular rumour down. Highlighting the situation on Twitter, community director Marcin Momot neither confirms nor denies the speculation, simply stating: "As for the launch date, we don't comment on rumours."
We're not sure how to read this, really — or maybe everyone's just reading too far into it to begin with. In any case, it's incredibly likely that Phantom Liberty will be dated at the aforementioned Summer Game Fest event, so we won't have to wait long for official confirmation on all of this.
When do you think Phantom Liberty will launch? Book a trip back to Night City in the comments section below.

My June is already full ugh.
I keep forgetting this is a thing
Oh God please no. I have enough to play from June-August. But any excuse to get back into Night City will take priority.
The faster they are done with this they can start working on redeeming themselves with the Witcher 4
Erm, they actually DO comment on rumours, proof below:

I guess that makes this rumour even more likely to be true
People still play this tripe? I tried it last week for the first time since launch, still a drab empty world minus the mass bugs. The endless blue markers put me off.
In June I'll be busy playing TotK and FF16
With D4 and FF16, I probably won't get to play this until August. I'm looking forward to it though, I've held off jumping back in for a long time while waiting the on the police system to get fixed.
Yeah if it does come out in June and knowing CDPR they charge like 40$ for it? Definitely gonna be a skip from me that month is just nothing but SF6 and FFXVI for me. Maybe if it’s 20 like Burning Shores because unlike Horizon actually like Cyberpunk 2077.
Can't wait to see and hear Johnny again.
@Ryne-Gaia Do they have a history of charging $40 for DLC? I feel like I paid $20 for each TW3 DLC and they were phenomenal and well with the money.
I put maybe twelve hours into the game once the PS5 version came out. I enjoyed it but still felt it was missing something. I do plan on starting a new playthrough once Phantom Liberty is out!
@glassmusic It's missing a lot of the features they promised
@glassmusic As mentioned, it's not just you. It's an unfinished game that was never completed.
Instead to sum it up, they took nearly two years to make it run properly. After lying to everyone about what the game was and released it unfinished and a technical mess, after years of slow to release patches, they slashed the dev team working on the game down to just a small few, and now they are pumping out this DLC for a quick influx of cash due to late blooming popularity for the title from an anime that released. All the while the vast majority of CDPR have already long since moved on from this game.
I expect they are going to do the same bit of cheesy marketing for this DLC hyping it up beyond what it is starting in June, but not releasing this until October or later.
I actually really like cyberpunk on the ps5. I was playing it until hogwarts landed and then i started steel rising but i intend to jump back into this.
If this drops in June...honestly I don't know what I'd do. There is so much already but I'd have to make time for this. When I started Cyberpunk I liked it. When I finished it I ended up considering it one of the best RPGs I've ever played.
Very much looking forward to Phantom Liberty!
If it drops in June I will just play it then as I am able to play more than one game at a time.
Also Idle Sloth gets a lot of things wrong so there is also that to consider.
Cyberpunk is a wickedly fine game. Just hope the dlc actually gets released on a physical format preferably as a GOTY edition!
More interested in what’s in the expansion. What systems from the base game will they finish? There’s a lot to fix in Cyberpunk, as good as the largely linear narrative is.
Oh yea! Thanks for reminding me to finish the first game......I'll get right on that after Breath of the wild.
Please no, delay this to Fall or Winter 2023.
