Rejoice, fellow denizens of Hell; we are officially in the home stretch now. Diablo 4 might not be out until 6th June (with access four days earlier for Ultimate Edition owners), but we got this bumpin' Billie Eilish-led gameplay trailer to hold us over in the meantime.
A fresh Diablo game is such a tantalising prospect, and this latest entry is shaping up to be something special. The servers seem to be up to the strain; all the portents are aligned. Something truly wicked this way comes.

I tried the server slam and it just aint for me because of the top down aspect of it. I do love the grittiness and something I want more devs to do these days than these overly vibrant games.
@Nepp67 um.... its not top down, it's isometric and yes there's a difference.
On topic, the betas have been fun. Can't wait for June 2nd. I really hope end game is worth sinking hours into. Haven't been this hype for a game in a long time.
I need...i really need diablo 4...
@Cutmastavictory Please explain because they just seem about the same. I did have fun with the game, but I knew I wasn't going to enjoy it in the long run.
I dunno man. I kind of want to play this but I know it will consume me. I remember when Diablo 3 came out, I didn't want to do anything else and my life practically went on-hold... I was 'lucky' they had a meager launch with not much reason to grind on once you've beaten it on the highest difficulty. Diablo 4 seems to be fleshed out much more, including a roadmap with content that will allow you to play for like a decade if you wish. It's literally an endless grind that is designed on keeping you around.
Games like these are like digital drugs and I don't think I want to commit to that at this stage in my life. I can't as easily put it on-hold as I did previously.
Is Billie Eyelash- while admittedly, potentially may be hellspawn- really that relevant to a game like Diablo 4? I feel like 'Slayer', or some other doom-drenched metal band would have been thematically more fitting...
I had a lot of fun in the beta, but this looks like it will take up a lot of my time.
I've been craving good, new fantasy games. But I've got Zelda now and FF is on the way.
At the moment I'm waiting to see how the PlayStation showcase goes - If they show me something with a fantasy slant I'll hold off on Diablo. If not, I'll get it.
Lords of the Fallen gameplay stream is today too.
Between this and Zelda ToTK my summer of gaming is sorted! 🙂
Can't wait! Took part in 3 last betas. I'm in love with Diablo 4 and with the dev's approach, when they do communicate with the audience, analyse the feedback and improve different aspects of the game based on it. Still have some worries about the late-game but with no doubt will be playin this for a while.
D3 wasnt bad. Post game was even fun buuuut this is the game people wanted D3 to be. I enjoyed the beta a lot and I think the new implementations like world bosses are good additions.
I can't wait to get stuck in to this, I really enjoyed the betas. Some of their marketing has been very strange and misplaced though. Song choice for this trailer is completely wrong, it doesn't fit the game at all.
@NinjaNicky champions of norrath you mean? Titan quest on playstation isn't point and click. But I guess it is if you use mouse and keyboard, I wouldn't know. I'll say this with a controller, d3, d4, titan quest, and champion of norrath play roughly the same as far as controls go.
Can you play this single player as well
There are quite a few skills and other bits present in the video that were not accessible in the beta or servers slam.
It all looks like fun here, here's hoping that the end of the game will end up feeling the same way.
However, what we all should take with a hefty grain of salt is the hype, to reduce the level of the unavoidable disappointment the initial build of the game will leave us with, come June 6 (or 4 days early for those Ultimate buyers).
Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 were quite different in the launch builds. They only got better during the course of at least a few years.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I remember Diablo 2 was much improved after the expansion and the versions 1.09-1.10 that added a lot of the content we see today.
For Diablo 3... heh it was only after the initial team left, and the new one launched the expansion, that changes for the good were made to the game. In the beginning the game was a complete mess.... it was very hard even on normal, the real money auction house ruined a lot of the gameplay, classes were unbalanced (sound familiar?), item drop was too low etc... Go into it now, you'll see a completely different game, a lot of fun, a lot of good content added, it has almost nothing to do with the one released initially.
Without a doubt something similar will happen with Diablo 4.
So set your expectations low, and have patience, it won't be the game you're hoping for until much later, after quite a few patches, maybe even after the first expansion.
Diablo is just not my cup of tee at all, but I’m happy for those who are very excited now.
@Shinnok789 oh man I forgot about the RMA! That takes me way back!
I know D4 will be a lot of fun, haters gonna hate. Love the song choice too.
@Nepp67 they're similar enough, you're good.
My most wanted game maybe of the whole Generation, Diablo is a top 3 IP for me. So i am beyond excited as we get closer to launch. If i could only play 3 IP’s it would be Red Dead Redemption, Diablo and Gears of War. Those are my 3 heavy hitters that really excite me. If i was allowed a bonus IP it would either be God of War or Last of Us. Bring on the demon slaying.
@NinjaNicky return to arms was the sequel to champions of norrath. Released about a year apart. If you like that, you should like the diablo series.
I played the server slam beta. And it was a lot of fun. I think D4 will be a nice step above D3 which I was disappointed with. D2 is still my Favorite. But D4 looks really promising as well.
