Good god Kitana (my favourite MK Kharacter) has never looked better and Shang Tsung looks so awesome he's never looked more badass hope this is good MK 11 wasn't it 😅. Praying we get some 3D Era kharacters I'm slightly worried about this Kameo Fighters thing though I hate support only characters on games

I wonder what lengths they go with the Switch version since there is no PS4/XBONE release. Color me intrigued though.

@Magnus_Selene Obviously I’m not expecting the Switch version to look next gen, but ports of games on the Switch fascinate me.

It's going to be tough to pull me off SF6 this year but I'll decide if I'll give it a go after I see some more gameplay.

I like MK. I just love SF is all. I'd definitely give it a go if Konquest mode returns though!

Looks great but yet another game at $70, probably translating to £70. I'll hold off until a couple of weeks/months in and get a reduced price.

The Switch version is kind of genius as both Street Fighter and Tekken are not bothering: they could sell this like hot cakes to FG-starved Switch users.

@Feena MK11 was surprisingly decent on Switch (it doesn’t look great graphically but it ran fairly well tho). And I believe the Switch version sold a lot as well and exceeded WB and NRS expectations, so they decided to bring MK1

Just seen it on my 50 inch in full 4K, looks great. Hate to be that guy that says there's no way I'm spending £70 on a fighting game but I am that guy, same with SF6. I know they cram a lot into these fighting games these days but I can never see myself paying full price day one on any fighting game. And the fact I have zero hype for any fighting games. Trailer looks great though

The trailer is amazing. Hope the game is half as good tbh.
Also, looks like it's kind of a reboot but not really - or you could say the reboot happened inside the game universe rather then the series being rebooted.
This basically picks up the story where 11's Aftermath DLC left it.

Great trailer but not enough to make me buy day one. I'm a patient person having waited until last December to buy MK11 Ultimate (PS5). I ignored MK11 until a Komplete version released and even waited for a massive price drop on that. I'll more than likely do the same for this new title.

I haven’t played a fighter game for a long time (Streets Of Rage 4 doesn’t count because it is primarily a scrolling beat em up…and freaking awesome!) but I have a hankering to play one again so I will sign up for MK1 relaunch..I just need some easy meat to hone my skills on first…Am I a bad dad for considering my 7yo son as my first opponent 🤔

Love 9, didn't care much for 10 or 11 but I'm a fan of the franchise so I bought them. Definitely interested in this but I hope some of the nonsense that plagued 11 is gone. The gameplay felt off and the online requirement annoyed me.

Cool cg trailer, any leaked gameplay footage floating around online or news on when we can expect to see some? Probably in the next couple of months before the beta I guess. The new assist sounds like the old Marvel vs Capcom assist. This is probably how they keep the roster from the old timeline or get fans to vote for which assist character they would like to be fully playable. If that's the case I'd welcome it.

@JohntheRaptor as someone who is not at all an expert I'm pretty sure that was Shang Tsung as the big bad. With Lui Kang having rebuilt the world peacefully and Shang coming in to defy that peace. Don't even know if Raiden was in trailer but again, I'm no expert.

Hi there fellow gamers.
What a year for fighting games it´s turning out to be.
With Street Fighter 6 on June, Mortal Kombat 1 on September and Tekken 8 on the horizon.
Now for a proper gameplay trailer...... Maybe on the Playstation showcase next week orr the Xbox showcase next month or even the Summer Game Fest perhaps??? Hopefuly in one of these three events.
Can´t wait to see more.

I thought the story of MK11 wasn't that great, what with that end-game time stuff and making Liu-Kang a fire god. But seeing this trailer, now I'm excited!

MK kompeting with SF this year will be interesting. I was always more favourable to MK. let's see how it goes.

First of all in Mortal Kombat history, Shang Tsung is the big bad of the series along with others like Shinnok, Quan Chi, and Shao Kahn. That guy in the end is Shang Tsung iirc.

Liu Kang became a fire god at the end of MK11.

@zupertramp I don't see Raiden in the trailer but it is confirmed that Raiden will appear in the game.

Kitana looks amazing though. So does Mileena and every other character.

I have only seen Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao (I think it is him), Liu Kang, Kitana, Mileena, and Shang Tsung as far as I remember.

@anoyonmus I have seen them...years ago. This is a reimagined reboot, clearly you missed that part, so it doesn't matter who was what in history. Everyone and their dog knows who the bad guys were before.

@JohntheRaptor they could still be the bad guys in the reboot timeline and that looks like to be the case.

I'm very happy it's dropping last gen as all companies should by now but if they are putting it on Switch they might as well put it on PS4 and get some of that money?

Unless the Switch version is cloud based I don't see why they wouldn't go for the extra cash? I'm just thinking from a business perspective why they would leave money on the table with them having already technically made a last version 🤔

@Realist Im with you. Cinematic’s do NOTHING for me now if there isn’t some gameplay here and there. Most time when I see a new game trailer I immediately skip to the gameplay to see if it’s for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love stories, but I need to see gameplay.

MK is good for a burst of fun but I never really understood the whole appeal. I suppose it's more of a multi-player thing rather than a solo thing. Unless there's some substantial single player campaign, I'll wait probably a couple years at the least.

I think I’m going to pass this time around. I enjoyed 11 a lot, but nothing in this trailer feels like a “must play” so far. I’m definitely interested to see gameplay, but this looks like the same old Mortal Kombat with the same old characters. A bit disappointing, honestly…

@OmegaStriver I would double-check that. I recall buying it for $40 on the day of release.

I love this....but I worry the issues I had with MKX and 11 were the gameplay was too overwhelming for the casual mom or sister who want to play because the love the franchise. MK9 was a great game and everyone across every age enjoyed it. I cannot say the same for the last two.

The mythos looks good as usual. The cinematics look great. The story will be a banger, no doubt.
But i will not buy it. Just like i didn't but 11 after being burned by X. I already see micro transactions so i'm imediatly out.
Will watch the story on youtube and professional matches for entertainment, but it's not a game i want to own.

@nyXhc420 I wish I would’ve got it for 40$, I paid 70$. That’s why I remember because it really stood out to me. I remember it being slightly more expensive than other games I bought at that time.

@Kanji-Tatsumi Pre-ordering is fine on other platforms. If you preorder, play the game and don't like it, then you can get a refund, no questions asked. Easy. But Playstation's terms of service won't let you refund a preorder if you even start downloading the game for 1 second (never mind actually playing it).

Sony and Nintendo reeeeally need to change this policy. It's just incredibly consumer un-friendly, IMHO, and would take away most of the leverage publishers have when offering pre-order bonuses.

Would love for the game to look like the trailer. Gotta say it looked amazing.

Hmm, maybe I'm getting old, but I think I would like to see the series step down from the ridiculous, cartoonish violence. Blasphemy, I know. And I don't say it shouldn't be bloody violent, but maybe not this over-the-top. Because this trailer had made me really excited for the "Mortal Kombat"-World until all the splatter started, which kinda corrupted the atmosphere somewhat. I know the insane and creative kills are a staple of MK games and it's certainly not a deal breaker for me, just a quick thought about how I also could imagine the series.

@OmegaStriver you know what, your right. Thanks for the refresher. I don't believe all first party games were that price, but yes the majority were. Also they have resalability which modern titles do not as much. However I will call out at the time pc games were from £10-30, which is my baseline of pricing. Then Dreamcast was £40, PS4 £50 etc. So the average has been gradually increasing and the format itself is now none existent (digital), so quite frankly it's all about profit and is of little benefit to the consumer.

What is this Dragon Krystals (premium current ) for?
Is it like on phone games when you buy these "special cheating upgrades" to be competitive against opponents?

I would love to play an MK game that included everything single character that's ever appeared in the series. Just like Nintendo did with SSB Ultimate.

I know it will never happen but it would be incredible.
