I know that Sony has been keeping quite with the Acti/Blizz deal rumbling along, but now that is is more than likely that Microsoft will succeed, it’s about time Sony flexed their muscles a bit and showed everyone what’s been going on in the background! Really hope to see what Santa Monica have been working on, a proper look at Spiderman 2, The Last of Us multiplayer and a tonne of announcements that are unannounced up until now. I’m rather excited!!

@Bionic-Spencer “More than likely MS will succeed”? Uhh the CMA still blocked the deal. The EU ruling doesn’t mean much, it only gives MS wiggle room. The CMA rarely loses appeals and they’re an independent non political body. If the deal stays blocked, MS can’t sell their games in the UK and they would be stupid to do that.

I'm looking forward to this, I've not really used my PS5 for some time and I'm looking forward to having something to play on it, whether that's Spider-Man 2, Silent Hill or something we don't even know about. I can't wait

Safe bet is an official gameplay reveal for Spider-man 2 and Death Stranding 2. A teaser trailer for Factions and maybe for Ghost of Tsushima 2. Maybe the Twisted Metal game. And then a bunch of original stuff like indies and live service games

I've decided to expect nothing but some cute indies, so if we get anything more than that, I can be pleasantly surprised.

Finally. I'm excited for normal PS5 stuff, but more excited for PSVR2. I want to know what's in the pipeline for that in particular. I've got plenty of games to go through right now, but I'm always up for new and exciting stuff.
I'd love to hear more flat screen conversions, or heck, even a PSVR2 version of Hitman 3. Flat screen conversions are a great way to get new AAA VR games. Resi 8 is fantastic, and more like it would be so welcome. AAA VR original is good and something for it is cool, but I realize hybrid is more realistic and still exciting as can be. VR Dead Space would be an instant win.
More smaller titles will always be welcome too.
Heck, older games getting VR conversion would be cool as well. VR infamous, VR uncharted, VR Resistance, VR killzone, etc, all would be so cool to see remade in VR, or made remade flat and in VR to maximize profit.
VR needs new games, but can thrive off of old ones like almost no other platform.

Well here we go, one week of crazy predictions! Perhaps now that Sony can finally sell ps5s to standard customers they can finally let the cat out of the bag.

I hope for some brand new games that don't feel formulaic (team shooters, fantasy without substance, whimsical indie games,...).
From existing series I would love a MGS reboot, not just a MGS e remake, Tsushima 2 or a miles Morales like semi sequel, lots of stuff from Japan's big 3 Sega, Capcom and Square Enix and a revamped psplus streaming service.

Crazy wish would be Shenmue 4 and a new game from Fumito Ueda.

@RonnieL I picked up the Horizon bundle so I’ve been playing that, but I’ve also got GT7 and RE Village so they have VR support too. There’s a few other games I’ll pick up in the next few weeks. Switchback, Red Matter 2 and I think there’s another on sale at the moment I’ll have a look at.

Finally. We might have a release date for a single Sony game.

This could be good. I will watch it because after all my classes end today on the 17th of May so I have time to watch.

I only want one thing and that is the next Mortal Kombat to potentially revealed in the PS Showcase. It better not be exclusive. Should release on PS5, XSX/S, and PC.

I don't get the rush to see Spiderman 2 footage. Just enjoy it when it comes around. We pretty much know what to expect given it'll be similar to the original and Miles. Ready when it's ready comes to mind.

Don't care about psvr2, I hope the show is focused on ps5 non-vr games.

I hope there's innovation for spider-man 2, and not just the same game but only with updated story and graphics.

That show is crucial for PSVR2: If they show gameplay footage of promising AA or AAA games, then PSVR2 has a chance to survive. If not, then PSVR2 is almost doomed.

I hope there is zero minutes wasted on " indie" and psvr2 games, we need real news on big triple A games, and some 3rd party stuff, ps5 slim/ Pro?

An actual showcase with an actual PSVR2 component headlined. Now that's exciting! Pre-E3 time.....Sony's never liked going first before, so that's a shock.

In an ideal world, Sony crushes it and MS replies in kind with their own showcase.

I do hope that EA will announce a Dragon Age Remastered Collection(Origins-Inquisition) to come out this year. I feel like it would sell pretty well and it makes total sense for them to release that with Dragon Age 4 a year/year and a half away.

It can be announced at some other point this summer but to see it here would be cool.

Despite their hardware sales, in my opinion Sony has a lot to prove going forward in terms of game diversity, and fan service. Especially considering their deceptive PS5 prerelease marketing, ghosting their fans for two years, prioritizing live service, and the only source of information coming from rumors, leaks, and investor calls....

Really hoping we get a clear sign this generation is actually starting and being prioritized alongside showing some sort of appreciation for the people that fund their lives.

Some Psvr2 bangers AA or AAA including Astrobot rescue mission 2, Star wars squadron's port and Half life Alyx. Maybe even some VR modes in pancake game releases just like Resi 8 or Gran Turismo because they have turned out awesome.

@eshy76 not to be that guy but MS has more active users than Sony and that’s with the PS5 smashing the Series consoles. Once the ABK deal goes through MS will really take a huge lead with active users. There is no knock out blow to end competition in the console space. It’s just now that Xbox is an ecosystem and not just a plastic box. However i am excited as heck for both shows as i own both consoles and want to see them both do well and have games that bring excited to the industry.

@Snake_V5 I thought it was RIP if Sony losses COD, that’s what Jim said. So all these games they are going to show mean what to Jim? There is no end of console and ecosystem competition. Thats not how this works and you are smart enough to know that. I am excited as heck for both showcases and i love to see games from all makers bring excitement to the industry. The amount of games both Sony and MS will show off in the next few weeks is really going to be great for gamers and i can’t wait.

For me Sony has the game i am most looking forward to with the Last of Us multiplayer, but Forza, HellBlade 2, Avowed, this little game called Starfield, and others that is a solid lineup to be excited about. Can’t wait to see what surprises both have and i hope Sony show’s what some of their live service stuff looks like, so we know to be excited or not. Those games tend to be all or nothing these days.

@Green-Bandit That's great, but I am only interested in the high-end console platform that is more likely to consistently deliver great games, which Phil Spencer made clear is going to be PlayStation and not Xbox. For those of you who prefer or like games subscriptions over great games and value active users more, Xbox is a great platform, but not my thing alas.

Moreover, as you know, whatever the EU has decided, if the CMA decision is not overturned, the Activision deal will still be off, so I wouldn't count those chickens just yet.

@eshy76 the CMA isn’t need if the FTC and EU are on board and MS CEO said just wait. Meaning they ain’t letting the UK stop business in 40 countries. But i don’t want to get into that to much as this still is a pro PS site and i am a PS fan. But the ABK deal while not a done deal, the CMA and UK is a curve in the road not a stop sign. Also Phil never said great games aren’t coming to Xbox he said basically what is true great games coming to Xbox isn’t going to make PS4 and PS5 owners just sell their consoles and come to Xbox in droves. Hence his example was if Starfield is a 11/10 game, that’s great but 25 million PS owners aren’t going to sell off and buy series X. Which is true in a sorts. It will take time for MS to repair the damage done last gen. However if you think MS don’t have great AAA games coming or when they come you still don’t want to play that is fair as it’s your choice. I am and always will be a PS & Xbox owner. Now to PS, man i really hope they crush it with Last of Us online, i kind of want to see what they have for live service. I am not a Marvel or Spider-man fan so while i know that will take up a lot of time and rightfully so, it will be a great game for those that want it. It’s a pass for me. Really excited to see what else is being worked on that’s new and not known. Maybe this won’t be that show. Either way i am super excited to see what’s coming to PS5 and whatever it is i will try and get to it after i hit 150 or more hours on Diablo 4 on Series X. That is my game of the generation as Diablo is a top 3 franchise all time for me. Think we will see anything with the new Twisted metal?

@Sanquine the industry is being ruined by gamers fighting over what plastic box they want to buy. I mean i respect players who only want one console and the smart choice with the Xbox one mess up would for sure be a PS, but Xbox has some great new studios and sure to have some great games to show at the event. Starfield has the ability to be one of the biggest games shown. Just have to wait and see if they land it. I admit that i want the ABK deal to pass but to drag about it is senseless. I think of it this way, if ABK is MS’s by the end of the year, it barely if any affects my PS5. Cod will still be there and so will other great games Sony own’s or has paid for timed deals. However i will admit i would like to see MS get more aggressive with those deals like Sony does. Don’t sign small little unknown games. If i was Phil i would be on the phone and lock down Bioshock 4 for a year. That’s how you get peoples attention. Not bleeding edge for god’s sake. 😀

@Suda51ueda and that’s fine, I didn’t know that. But those are the type of games to money hat. Sony money hat’s and to me i think it’s fine and perfectly fair play, but Phil and MS needs to stop playing nice and write checks on big name, hot ticket item games. If not then just lay down and let Sony roll you, cause Sony has shown they mostly know what a good game looks like and isn’t shy to pay. I only play kids games.
I put my hope on play-asia for surprising announcement of upcoming kids games / unpopular games.

Do you play anything like resident evil etc ?

I tend to gravitate towards horror and this gen PlayStation has had some amazing horror games

And the odd first party if recommended by friends.

My expectations:

• Spider-Man 2 gameplay trailer and release date
• The Last of Us: Factions gameplay trailer + release window
• Announcement that Ghosts of Tsushima 2 is officially in the works... release TBC
• Another cinematic trailer for Wolverine... nothing more.

My hopes:

• Spyro 4 flies in!!! Releasing this Autumn!
• Uncharted game - slightly smaller title, akin to Lost Legacy, either with mainline cast or a side tale like "Cutter's Adventures"!
• Astrobot: Rescue Mission 2 & Blood and Truth sequels revealed for PSVR2, coming soon - The originals shadowdrop, both with an upgrade path for existing owners, but for a tenner each as it has reworked controls, 120hz and 4K assets.
• New Tomb Raider by Crystal Dynamics cinematic trailer reveal

Dreaming way too hard!:

• 1st person Spider-Man PSVR2 spin off game (those sense controllers are perfect webshooters! + Insomniac have dabbled in VR development before)
• A Sly Cooper or Jak & Daxter sequel
• The Getaway PS5 full on remake

I only play kids games after I have traumatic experiences from rated M stuffs on video games and movies when I was kid.
I didn't even play those stuffs but I accidentally saw those stuffs for quite long and it gave me really disturbing experiences and it still remain in my brain forever.
As I grew up, I regret with my past experiences and I became hate with every single adult stuffs. Even seeing them by accidentally, it will make me really pissed off and really disgusted.
I didn't even consider them as entertainment, I consider them as evil criminal stuffs that must be destroyed with force.
Even when I was teen, I never have any interest with adult games when my friends played rated M games that not supposed for them. Thanks to my natural interest that only like something cute, girlie, peaceful that made me adoring cute kids games.

Should be good! I have a feeling they will show any new hardware at summer gamesfest and focus on just games for the hour, but may be wrong. They are present at summer gamesfest though so they must have something to show in June also..

I’m not expecting much to be honest. These showcases haven’t been all that impressive so far. That said it might be worth watching for third party stuff, we’re defo getting gameplay for the new Mortal Kombat so it’ll be worth it for that.

Any chance of a FF9 reveal or Kingdom Hearts 4 release date?

I also hope we see a rivet and kit spinoff game of Ratchet and Clank, and as far as Marvel’s Spider Man 2 goes, gameplay trailer, preorder info, collector’s edition and a release date,

@MikeOrator i am not sure what you were trying to say, but again i own both a PS5 and Series X and they both have games i can’t wait to play and i am excited for both showcases. I think both are about to show what the consoles are more capable of and i have my eyes on unreal engine 5, those games should be a step up and get better in the years ahead as dev’s learn the engine.

some people have very high expectations for this event haha. based on history, i would temper them significantly. out of all the rumours and speculation we have seen with konami, possibility of a rockstar announcement and sony secret projects, i think a couple are bound to stick. by a couple, i mean 2 or 3... not a laundry list of them.

if i was a betting man... i would say the time is ripe to finally announce the mysterious mgs project, whatever it might be... i personally don't need a non-kojima mgs game in my life, but if it is a true 1:1 remake of mgs 1 developed by bluepoint, then i will keep an open mind. far from ideal but bluepoint would do the project justice and have kojima's blessing i am sure.

since rockstar usually does its own events, independently of the big 3, it might be expecting too much to see an official gta 6 announcement at sony's event. for this reason i am going to say no to that happening.

last of us factions is all but guaranteed at this point. i have zero interest in it but all the power to those that do.

dark horse predictions:

project re-fantasy (from studio zero, former persona team) finally being "officially" announced with a proper trailer. this is one of my most anticipated games and i hope to see it... if it still exists that is.

capcom has gone dark on pragmata for a couple years now. supposedly it is releasing this year after a few delays so how much longer are they going to hold this one back? this is one of the most mysterious AAA games that is due for an update.

uncharted 5 (starring drakes daughter) was sort of comfirmed to be real in one of sony's sizzle reels a while back (we got a second of footage which felt like an easter egg of sorts) so i can see this finally being announced proper. perhaps nd will take on this project as advisors only. either dan diego or bend studio will be working on this one if i had to guess... bluepoint if they are not already working on a mgs project for konami, although they are large enough now to be working on two games at the same time.

bloodborne 2 or demons' souls 2 announced.

lastly, ps5 slim announced with a release date in october or november of this year.

@MikeOrator Yeah good points and i agree. Not one game is going to turn around all the blunders Xbox first party has had. However i do think Starfield will be great, and if they can get HellBlade 2 to be great and we know Forza reboot will be amazing, those games always get 9’s and 10’s, well that triple set could be the start of something really good, throw in Avowed and we know that dev is super talented. I.D is rumored to be rebooting Quake and we have to see what Fable, Contraband and Indiana Jones looks like but clearly not all of those are going to stink up the joint like Arkane did with Redfall and that is enough to have positive energy towards their June Showcase. However if they screw up 3-4 titles then the faith is gone. But i agree it is going to take banger after banger. But as a PS5 and Series X owner this is what i want to see. These two going at it with 8’s , 9’s and 10’s. We know Sony will have good quality on display at the May show, Xbox needs to gain and earn that quality insurance. Call me crazy or just a dumb fan but i think they will.
