Assassin's Creed: Mirage could be closer than we all might think, imminent even, according to an alleged GameStop employee posting on the /r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit. The post shows grainy images of the title appearing within the company's internal system, which might sound flimsy alone, but does align with previous reporting.
Rumour was that the title (which purports a return to classic AC gameplay) was targeting an August 2023 release date, and Insider Gaming goes one further, alleging that we will see gameplay for the stealth action title at this year's Ubisoft Forward event on 12th June.
Obviously, we will learn more in the weeks to come, but how does that timeline strike you? Depending on the precise date in August, that could put Mirage into Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon territory, which drops on the 25th, although whether that matters is debatable. Sound off in the comments section below.

I'm so curious to see how Mirage looks in action. Really looking forward to that Ubisoft Forward next month!
Hopefully it isn't an RPG with crappy loot mechanics. Just make a traditional Assassin's Creed game. That is all anyone is asking for.
So an 85% finished game is about to drop and maybe by the original launch window the game might be patched to run pretty well but will still require a little bit of optimisation? I really hope this turns out well because the general mood at the moment surrounding half assed rushed games is getting more and more unsettled.
Hopefully game oriented than store oriented 🤦.
Bring back Desmond and the apple and fix your assassin's Creed 3 ending instead of the usual nonsense. Oh let's go Egypt , let's go Rome just a theme change basically. I got bored of these ac 1 - 3 had structure until that ending.
Cautiously more intrigued by this assassin's creed than I have been for any in a long time
@NinjaNicky That's fine I guess I just hope the Japan one doesn't fall under the RPG side.
@StylesT same here , it’s pretty weird but i’m happy about it . i guess that’s what happens when u take a near 10 year hiatus from a franchise plus this is the first classic like AC in a long time.
@nomither6 Have people forgotten how boring the old AC formula was when they changed it? Sometimes we deserve the sh*t we get by these studios smh
@Nepp67
That’s what this is supposed to be, is it not?
@Nepp67 Only reason I’ve been playing AC is because they got away from the stealth heavy games. It’s not a bad thing for everyone.
@Mad001 The game is up for preorder at Ubisoft's homepage and I am vaguely hopeful that it is less microtranaction oriented. There are only 2 editions and the deluxe one is only £5 more (£49.99 vs £44.99) and includes a 40 thieves quest with no mention of the usual rubbish they pack into their expensive editions.
Of course there is still time for this all to change and it to be the usual store focused mess but I live in hope.
@Heavy_Artilery AC2 , brotherhood & blackflag are the best AC games ever made .
crazy those boring games still can’t be topped
@nomither6 FC3 was great also. in 2012.
I'm going to wait to hear more about it and see gameplay. After Origins - Valhalla, if it's more bloatware, I just don't have the time for that anymore. They can promise classic AC all they want, but I'm not going to believe them till I see it.
After 155hrs in Valhalla I really hope Mirage is no longer than 60hrs
@Glassneedles lol yeah last three I basically waited till sales get the whole lot for 20 quid or less. I have em just to jump in and out of the store crap is off putting ubi used to be good now their wanting to rip gamers off than to give gamers the games they want not a half effort. Geez ubi makes me go like a grumpy old man 😂
Won't be sneaking anywhere near my console.
@Korgon I'm expecting this game to be given a Fall 2023 release window, assuming there's not a delay.
November seems about right with the Ubisoft Forward happening in June.
I'm so looking forward to this game. Day one purchase for me (given that it's not a $70 game.)
Edit: Mind you, I still wont buy day one if the reviews imply big performance issues.
people are still discussing this franchise?
Why does everyone want the classic Assassin's Creed style back? Everyone complained about every single one of the "old-style" games when they were new. Maybe not Brotherhood or Black Flag as those are universally loved. But the rest have always been complained about for one reason or another.
Be it the parkour, the stealth mechanics, the combat, the protagonist, or the modern-day segments nothing has been good enough for anybody.
Personally, though, I can't wait until the new game comes out and Ubisoft gets put through the wringer...again... for not being all things to all people.
I would prefer this one to launch a little earlier. Sure not June with such legends like SF6 and FFXVI but honestly if it’s like August 12th or some ***** with Armored Core on the 25th I’m totally choosing to get into Armored Core over this no question.
@Heavy_Artilery FC3 hasnt been topped either.
@FatalBubbles
I have played them all and enjoy both the stealth and the RPG styles. I do like the RPG ones a bit better myself though. The others were good but always had some sort of jank to them that made things weird. At the time only AC2, Brotherhood, and Black Flag were considered Great Games. The rest were roasted by the game community. Now the same community wants to have all that stuff back that they complained about. So finicky...
@grapetrap I hated the ship battles in black flag about as much as anything ever in a video game. I know people liked it but man was that bad for me. Lol.
@FatalBubbles hm yes although still not as bad as Batmobile battles in Arkham Knight
I see that Ubisoft are advertising for positions to work on what is only named as “Assassin’s Creed VR”.
Is there any news on this? It’s the first I’ve heard.
@Secryt @FatalBubbles
lol...I loved the Batmobile tank battles...
It was the sewer racing for the Riddler that I couldn't stand
@FatalBubbles
But you get it right. Assassin's Creed has always been doing different things. I don't know why everyone thinks that "going back to their roots", which people for various reasons also hated, is going to "save the franchise".
You know what I would like. A modern-day AC that finally addresses the long-rumored tie-in with Watchdogs. Can you imagine being an Assasins/Hacker in current-day Hong Kong or Tokyo, or maybe Dubai? You are armed only with your trusty katana, a cell phone, and your wits as you take on Blume and Abstergo in a battle over some nefarious plot to take over the internet that is actually powered by a long-lost Piece of Eden or some other weird video gamey crap.
