As has become an annual tradition, Sony has announced that its Days of Play promotion will return this year. It kicks off on the 2nd June — lasting one week — and will see prices slashed all across PlayStation, from games and PS Plus subscriptions to console accessories and merchandise.
The PS Plus discounts are usually a Days of Play highlight. This time around, Sony is taking 25 per cent off all 12-month subscription plans, so this is typically a good opportunity to renew or extend your membership. What's more, existing subscribers can get 25 per cent off when upgrading to a higher tier, like PS Plus Extra or Premium.
Meanwhile, prices will be getting chopped over on direct.playstation.com — the brand's official online store. That means we can expect deals on all sorts of physical goods, like console accessories, and boxed games. It's a similar story with the PlayStation Gear Store, which stocks PlayStation-based merchandise.
And of course, no PlayStation promotion is complete without some exclusive PlayStation Store discounts. We don't know which games will be getting discounted at the time of writing this article, but all will become clear when Days of Play begins later this week.

I'll have to re-up my regular Plus account this year so this is probably the best time to do it. Regardless that I'm not a fan of modern gaming, there are still PS4 co-op games like Hunt and Destiny that I play with family and friends.
Hoping the Pro controller is getting discounted 🙏🏽 need sum separate for Apex Legends
Yes please!
I wonder when the June PS+ Essential games will be announced.
@Grumblevolcano This Wednesday, I believe.
Gets said a few times but worth repeating. If you buy psn vouchers from the likes of shopto.net beforehand, you can really add up the savings.
Mission accomplished. I let my Premium sub end in April so I could rejoin Extra when a deal was on.
How do I actually claim it though? My annual PS Plus Premium is on the 6th June. So will the discount be automatically applied or do I have to manually select the reduced price?
Does anyone know when ps plus is generally discounted more - days of play or black Friday?
Basically, is now the best time to extend your membership? Thanks!
I'm looking for a discount on the PS Plus Extra subscription as mine is up in 6 days.
@Grumblevolcano Well they’re usually announced on the final Wednesday of each month…..and leaked beforehand…..
They duped me with a 20% PS+ discount yesterday cause they knew my subscription would expire soon. Should have waited for the 25% Days of Play discount.
Anyway, 40€ isn't bad for a year of Plus.
I’m hoping Atomic Heart gets a hefty discount.
@Snake_V5 likely you'll need to do something to get the discount. Perhaps if you buy now it'll add 365 days to your account at the discounted rate.
How convenient. My PSN wallet is at the limit. Let's gooooooo!!!
@Snake_V5 mine ends on 7th June. I have already offer to resub with 25% off right now. Check your subscription plan page.
Maybe I'll take psplus and buy demon's souls or ratchet ps5 if it's heavily discounted 😃
Plus Essential will be a good thing to grab then. An early Re-up.
I hope we get some good VR game discounts. Those are what I’m looking out for.
@REALAIS How when this days of Play doesn't start till the 2nd June?
Just checked and its still the normal yearly price.
"What's more, existing subscribers can get 25 per cent off when upgrading to a higher tier"
If true, may be a good time for current Extra subs to look at upgrading to Premium. I got the Extra tier mid December and with the current upgrade cost, it would bring it down to about £6.70.
I don't think that the Premium tier offers enough at £99.99 a year, but for £58.99 + £6.70, that's not too bad. I read that Premium has "450 games", but the small print of that is that around 300 of those are PS3 (ie streaming only). Still, access to another 150 games for under £7 would be pretty fair I think.
As ever though, I'm sure Sony will helpfully re-enable auto-renew when you upgrade, so be sure to go and disable that, or "cancel" as the recent wording change hopes to obfuscate...
June 2nd is my birthday, so the timing couldn't be better. My PS Plus Premium subscription isn't due until December, so I'll probably wait until Black Friday to renew that. I'd like to pick up another Dualsense Edge. A discount on that would be nice. Or a 4TB SSD. If not, then I guess I'll wait and see what games go on sale.
I felt last year was abysmal in terms of the discounts and deals. hopefully it's not the same this year.
“This time around, Sony is taking 25 per cent off all 12-month subscription plans, so this is typically a good opportunity to renew or extend your membership. What's more, existing subscribers can get 25 per cent off when upgrading to a higher tier”
Don’t know if I understand this correctly. How’s the latter a plus on the former? You already have the 25 per cent regardless if you stick with your current plan or upgrade, right?
Must be doing something wrong, when I try to buy an other year it still shows $99.99 with no discount. Does this only apply if you’re aren’t currently subbed?
Time to stack those PS+ essentials for cheap upgrade to Premium
@wiiware if you have the extra tier for plus Rift Apart was recently added =)
@Snake_V5 I think you buy a year at the reduced price and it will add 12 months to your current subscription
@FatalBubbles the sale hasn't started yet. Later this week!
@Darude84 the latter is for upgrading the remaining months on your current subscription.
@Snake_V5 I assume that is special offer and nothing to do with upcoming sale. This is right now for me available in PS app, as it says "Buy again". https://photos.app.goo.gl/1tDeP19kjNUhN2ex8
@General_Spiller Sorry for the stupid question, but do you mean those gift cards that give you credit for your PSN account? How does this work exactly? Thanks in advance
@REALAIS Mine doesn't say that? I can see where I can buy another 12 months again but it's at the normal standard price and not on offer? Maybe it will change from 2nd June for me.
@Strafio Thanks, makes sense.
@Snake_V5 yeah, from 2nd June that will be for all users. I will let to run out Premium and will go for Extra from 8th of June. There is no value for me at all in Premium.
@General_Spiller I’ve never found any of these sites to work for me. For example, on shopto.net right now, I can get a $50 card for the low low price of $53.13. Every single card costs more than the face value. Best deal for me is just Costco. $90 for a $100 card, every day.
I got an email last week offering me to re-up essential with the same discount, although I strongly suspected this was coming I took it, it was a one time deal best I could tell. Just checked again on the app and it's back across all 3 sub's.
My plus subscription ended today, so great timing. I’ll buy my store credit from shop.to so my annual plus subscription is super cheap.
@glassmusic shop.to is only great value for UK £. Probably because of high currency value, Sony is giving gift cards with discounts. €/$ dont expect any significant discounts for gift cards.
@Strafio Thanks. 🤦🏻♂️
I Believe I've finally got the hang of PS sales now 😆 so I let my PS Plus expire knowing Days of Play must be coming, instead of just re upping when I'm playing Zelda anyway.
I was expecting it to tie in with the state of play/Showcase, but staggering it is a good way to keep the Sony train rolling, I suppose. A nice big sale, and hopefully some more reveals over the summer to get things back on track for the paying customers who still want more hype
I'll probably extend my Premium subscription even though it doesn't expire till sometime in 2024.
Literally renewed yesterday. Eff.
I hope Deliver Us Mars is in the sale.
@wiiware get ps+ extra and both games are on there
@HydeRoadKid it was also 25% during black Friday last year
I guess £100 off a PSVR2 is unlikely.
Gonna finally upgrade to extra tier 🙌 😌 bunch of games I want to try out
@Whately86 I buy £50 vouchers for around £42 when the offer is available at shopto. You redeem the code they send via psn store and it credits your account. Then you select whatever deal it is you are wanting on the store and it will give you the discounted total. As that money is coming from the voucher you bought at shopto, you get extra savings.
I bought two years of extra during the Black Friday sale and saved a load.
@glassmusic I've noticed in the past that if I'm not signed in, the website defaults to USD and yes, you're right, the USD offers aren't really offers.
Always hopeful that some of the games on my wishlist go on sale, but we shall see. Will more than likely take advantage of the 25% off to renew my PS Extra subscription, regardless. I’d be crazy not to.
@Nyne11Tyme @MatthewJP My main account is the usa version and unfortunately I need usa credit card to pay for psplus extra or premium, can't use psn money 😕
I can use Indonesia (my country) psplus but my games saves are backed up online on my usa account cloud, maybe I'll change my psplus subs to the cheaper Indonesia version and saves my games there 🧐
I downgraded from Premium to Extra but had stacked it until July 2024, so I have Premium until then. What’s the best way/time to stack Extra before that date?
Still got 3+ years premium stacked from the free upgrade from PS Now & PS+
@themightyant Same here, I think my Premium expires April 2027?
@Darude84 I'm 99% sure you can't stack a lower tier while still on a higher tier. You would have to wait until that higher tier expires. I think the only workaround I have seen on some forums is you can contact Sony and get them to cancel your subscription outright, which you could do ahead of time e.g. this time next year when this deal rolls around again.
@KidRyan It's great. I did only have 2-3 years of old PS+ but took a risk before the service changed and stacked more years on that and paid for a few months of PS Now. That all got upgraded to 4-5 years of Premium. Downside is it will be harder to face paying full price in X years.
Having just recently acquired a PS5, I’m hoping to score a few games to really show what it can do.
@themightyant I honestly regret upgrading to premium, there have only been a handful of PS1, PS2, and PSP games I've added to library.
As for PS Plus Extra games, I never have the time since I like to focus on my actual purchases first (massive backlog).
@KidRyan if you don’t use it then it’s never going to be worth it for you. It appears like a tough sell compared to Extra which has lots of new additions each month.
Premium isn’t that, it’s far more like PS Now a relatively static library with few additions. A far more niche service. But it has 450 games on it (in addition to the 424 games on Extra) which to me, for £16 more a year, is good value. But that is always going to be subjective. If you aren’t going to use it then it’s useless.
@General_Spiller Oh, I understand now. Thanks. I'll look into it, but I think we don't get much of those (discounted gift cards) down here. I'm from Brazil. PSN store is the same as the American one but for gift cards I have to buy for the Brazilian PSN. But I'll def do a deeper search. Thanks again.
@themightyant All I know is I most likely will be downgrading to either Essentials or Extra after my subscription finally expires in 3-4 years.
