Sand Land, the one-shot manga from Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, is getting a full-on video game adaptation on PS5 and PS4. Simply titled Sand Land at the time of writing this article, it's being built on Unreal Engine 5, and it appears to be a fairly open action adventure title. We don't have a release window yet, but publisher Bandai Namco says more news is coming soon.
Just to recap what Sand Land actually is, it follows the story of a demon prince who ends up fighting for the sake of humanity in what is essentially a post-apocalyptic world.

I Iove Toriyama so this is my favourite game so far, even though I know next to nothing about it. It reminds me of a PS2 game in that it's this out of nowhere game that just seems to exist because the people making it just wanted to make it.
This is cool looking.
It’s crazy, I read this manga years ago and I still have the volume. Never thought I would see this get a game and a movie.
I was like: Huh? Is this DQXII? 🤣
I will keep an eye on it.
@Nem I'm sure DQ XII marketing will start soon after FF VII Rebirth releases.
Looks cool! I thought it might be Dragon Quest Monsters when the trailer started.
I’m down for this. A little random this title’s getting a game what? 20, 30 years after the short off-shoot manga, but I liked the manga, love Toriyama, and I’ll definitely keep my eye on this.
@somnambulance @shonenjump86 @Matroska I can't remember if I've read the manga before.
However I absolutely love anything involving Akira Toriyama, so I'll def pick up this game at some point.
