That's... interesting. Probably connected to new console sales? Which, maybe, could be connected to the FF release?
Blood upon the snow bro.
I imagine Ragnarok is over 15 million sales by now
I still have yet to pick this up. It's on my list. Perhaps Black Friday.
Final fantasy 16 = increase in PS5 sales = increase in sales of one of the best game on the system would be my assumption
@Voltan Showcase season may have also played a role in increasing PS5 hardware sales.
It's long tail sales have been great, at least in the UK. It's been in the Top 40 basically since launch and frequently re-enters the Top 10.
I picked a copy up From Game for £34! Which I couldn't believe
I bet the biggest chunk of 3rd party sales is on ps5 as well..playstation is doing great again.
This is because there is a very good deal at the moment on the God of War console bundles. You pretty much get the game for free.
Ragnarok was on sale at various places like Game in the UK for £35 and less, so I suspect that had a lot to do with it hitting 4th again. Still yet to finish Ragnarok due to Zelda, but enjoyed what I played, even if it doesn't quite hit the same heights as 2018 so far
Wasn't it in the Days of Play sale, followed by bundles that are still out there selling with the hardware spike from notE3 and XVI? It was still expensive in this past sale but I'm sure it increased sales. Waiting for a better sale, personally.
Zelda might be top again in the physical uk charts but there's only two Nintendo games in the top 10. The rest are made up of PS and Xbox games and you'd have to guess most sales being on PS4 and PS5 given how there's more PS consoles in comparison to Xbox consoles sold, and with Xbox mostly seem to use and talk subscription GamePass more than anything else
Well, it is a great game.
Sublime Driving, VR Support, Steamdeck support... F1 2023 is a racing fan dream come true. Codmasters nailed it.
Done with Zelda and Jedi... just waiting for FF16.
It has been a fantastic stretch of games. Fighting, Driving, jRPG, wRPG, Action - something new for a bunch of genres on PS5.
@PixelDragon Hi mate. Been here (and Pure Xbox) for ages. It's a good crowd. Though covering just one platform you get a slightly polarised view at times imho and not enough people pushing back on the platform warriors for balance. But I try. lol
Yes there a few EG veterans about, a few under different usernames just to confuse matters. See if you can spot them
@themightyant "you get a slightly polarised view"
giggle "slightly". The Atlantic is a large puddle.
@NEStalgia Classic British understatement.
Oh and @PixelDragon beware of @NEStalgia pulling you into 'slightly lengthy' discussions. 🤣
@PixelDragon @themightyant They're not lengthy, they're right-sized.
Discounts surely help. Got my copy last week, though I'd been really looking forward to playing it for a very long time.
I haven't seen Starfield in any top sales charts. Just sayin.
Just seeing a God of War bring in over 1 billion in revenue itself just shows Sony’s approach still works very well. When 1 game brings in 1/3 of gamepass revenue without all the licensing cost to run the service
Best game ever.kratos the g.o.a.t. 🐐 👑.word up son
@Triumph741 Do you mean preorder charts? I'm definitely in the camp of not wanting to get "cyber-punked" and have a wait and see attitude towards Starfield. Think the expectations may be higher than what anyone could deliver, though.
@NEStalgia i wish SF6 was a little higher in the charts. Ready for me to say something positive about the Dual Sense? I am to my surprise really liking the Dual Sense for SF6, i talked myself out of getting it for Xbox, this is the first 3rd party game I’ve bought on a Sony platform in a long time, but i am doing fairly well, still knocking off SF rust. But i am winning matches, even had my first 4 game win streak yesterday. I do a lot of win one lose on, lose 2-3 win 2-3. But the controller works fairly well, it’s no fight stick of course. But it’s the best use outside of a Sony 1st party game I’ve gotten on a Sony controller in a long time, i still found the Six Axis to be borderline useless. DS4 was a 6/10 for me. So this was a pleasant surprise until i decide on a stick. Might even get taken 8 on PS5. Since this is a God of War thread, i will just say as someone that used to have GOW as my favorite single player game in the business, that has been passed up by Last of Us, i found GOWR a little longer than it needed to be, also i dislike the tacked on feeling of the upgrades, and the puzzles to get the power up’s is feeling dated, not fun and a little bit of a drag in pacing. Don’t get me wrong it’s a excellent game, it’s not the 10/10 i thought it would be, wether it’s a 8 or 9 for me is a toss up. But i am happy to see it sell well and it’s a game any company would be proud to have in it’s catalog.
@Rmg0731 i mostly agree but not all games sell like a GOW. Spider-man does as well, but many others do not and the cost to income back on those drag down the genre as a whole for Sony i would think. GOW is here to stay, so are the other single player gems, but to only have single player games on your platform is dangerous from a variety and income perspective. I am happy to see Sony reach out and try new experiences. 😊
@Triumph741 @tselliot I'd be a lot more worried if a game not yet available for sale started showing up in sales charts.
@Green-Bandit I don't think it's a surprise, core fighting games are a niche. A big niche, with a loyal base, but it's not mainstream. At this point the only think in the charts will be "super mainstream for everyone to enjoy", either family things or cinematic things that "are for everybody all the time" ,or things that are hyped to heck and back (Elden Ring, which, while amazing at what it does, is surely not a game for everyone, or even for most, but the hype shot it to the top because nobody wanted to miss out on what "everybody" loved.) SF6 is doing great for a core fighting game.
EEEEWWWW controllers for FG????? No. Just no. Bad. Bad bandit. Get back in your cage.
I haven't played Ragnarok yet because I'm A: waiting for a better sale and B: Still haven't managed to drag through 2018 yet. I just am not feeling it. It does some things ok, but I never really got the hype. I don't dislike it or anything, it's ok, but it's very.....just kind of ok to me. It's one of those things I want to make it through both games because I've invested partway through it and want to see through to the end but can never motivate myself to ACTUALLY do it.
For all my criticism of FFXVI becoming FF of War spinoff, the one thing I kind of like is that they styled it, purposely after old GoW and not new GoW, because I think those played better. They're a worse Showtime special, they're a more fun video game, at least vs 18. I may end up thinking FF of War is a terrible FF game but I may think it's a better GoW game than new GoW by the end if they hold to that promise. GoW3 was amazing. I'll get to Ragnarok eventually. If it hits $45 or under for Black Friday I'll snag it then, but then it'll still have to sit in my backlog behind like 100 other things lol. I haven't even started HFW yet and I planned to be done it by now!
Hogwarts really didn't become an evergreen title until the PS4 edition came out. Showing that enough people didn't upgrade. Once the Switch edition comes out right before Christmas I wouldn't be surprised if it charts #1.
Just got mine £21 wasn't passing that up its a good game enjoying it so far 👌
EEEEWWWW controllers for FG????? No. Just no. Bad. Bad bandit. Get back in your cage.
HAHA, i know i know, but the one time i had some decent to say about a Sony controller, i wanted to share it with you. HAHA
However i do want a stick and plan to get one now that i have the game and like it. My Buddy in Las Vegas has a connection to fighting sticks and told me he will pass the info on them so i could buy one. Not sure what or who his contact is. GOW in 2018 shocked me at how they changed it, but i liked it, a lot actually. Then GOWR just didn’t do much for me as i had expected it to. Honestly i wouldn’t even say $45, if you wait long enough you will get it for $30 or under. Thats one of the things i like about Digital when it goes low in price you can download it. Good luck finding a store with the Disc by then. My local Best Buy has less games on the shelves than ever before and that’s for even new games. Sony is dangerously becoming Ubisoft as GOW and Spider Man are starting to look like a copy and paste machine with new stories and characters. That only works for so long, yes even with characters as loved and known as Spider man. Yes i agree fighting games weren’t for everyone when i was younger and they for sure aren’t now. But nice to see the core players supporting it and i never have to wait more than 1-2 mins for a online fight. It however do not think it’s a 10/10 like many reviews praised. I still think the story mode is weird and janky, only doing it a little at a time for the trophies. Battle hub is neat and not really my thing but a great addition to the game. The balancing out of the box on the characters is ok to average, but needs lot’s of tweaking in updates. Modern controls suck, i was 50/50 on them before buying the game, i know what they are trying to do and all that, but new players pulling off easy combos and moves with a button or two while i have to master 4-5 presses in the heat of a battle is not great in my opinion, then again i don’t like to lose and Ken and Chun Li with Modern controls are often times hard to beat. I’m old school and use Guile and Blanka, so maybe that’s part of my problem. Overall happy with it and when i take a Diablo 4 break on Series X, i fire up SF6 on PS5 and really enjoy it. Back to my cage i go, i know what i deserve for saying it hahaha 😊
What’s the explanation for this over half a year after release if there’s no report of new PS5 sales increase?
@VenomUK First digital sale on it is certainly part of it.
Mario Kart. I just don’t understand.
@cburg 140M console sales - #1 console seller week after week after week and each and every new console sold what is the first game they buy? Mario Kart.
