PlayStation Productions is spinning up all kinds of yarns right now, and we're pretty excited to see Jin Sakai make the jump to the big screen. We knew that the Ghost of Tsushima flick was intended to be a visual treat, and veteran stuntman and John Wick director Chad Stahelski has confirmed the film is currently in "heavy development".
In a gargantuan, wide-ranging interview with ComicBookMovie.com, Stahelski was asked about the development of the PlayStation adaption right at the end. Stahelski expressed his love for the IP and then described the biggest issue the project faces, which, quite frankly, sounds like a great problem to have:
"The trick is not do we have great material; we know we have great material. It's how to make it palpable in any platform, you know, how do we make a great two, two and a half hour movie out of this? Make it satisfying and leave it open to expand further from there, like that's the real challenge, how to take so much great and get it down to a watchable level. "
We look forward to seeing how the finished product turns out and how Stahelski and co ultimately go about bringing feudal Tsushima to life. Are you excited to see Jin's film debut in the Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation? Ride off into the sunset that is the comments section below.

Keanu Reeves as Jin Sakai??? Nicholas Cage as Khan??? 🤯🤯🤯 never know 😎😎😎
Dwayne Johnson must have the leading role in this.
Too soon anyone?
@Czar_Khastik if so, Kevin Hart must join too.
I'm excited but worried. I hope they have a full Japanese cast, at the very least. Now I wanna re-watch 12 samurai again, man I love that film.
I hope they take inspiration from RAN, and try to at least make it look, or feel, like a Akira Kurosawa movie.
@tameshiyaku off topic, but I wonder whats happened to that Borderlands Movie, seems like it was years ago when they was filming that film and heard nothing since.
If they nail the family aspect, learning new ways after such a big loss, the descent into more brutal revenge and fear based tactics, the internal struggles, the prison camp scene, and a final duel, this will be absolutely epic 👹
Also, Ken Watanabe as Lord Shimura and Benedict Wong as the Kahn, please.
I'm excited for this. I just hope it's done right and not 'Westernised'...
@Zoidpilot4 I hope not. Japanese will not make authentic Mongols 😜
I just saw John Wick 4 last night. I am excited for this.
@Ravix I wouldn't mind that one bit. I thought Wong was fantastic as the Kahn in Marco Polo
@Bez87 I was just wondering the same! My feeling is that it must be REALLY bad if it’s just sitting in the can. Filming was done in 2023…
@mazzel hahah oh yeah, doh
I hope they get a Asian cast. As much as I like Keanu Reeves I rather see a correct casting. No Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Heart but I hope those tho are joking.
Can’t wait to see Tom Holland playing Jin Sakai!
@Ravix Gotta say that's absolutely fantastic casting
It's gonna suck you can't tell the plot of a 20 hour game in 2 hours plus the best stuff was the companion storylines and they probably won't be in the movie to save time. This game is perfect the way it is it doesn't need a movie to validate it
Hurry up and make the movie so Ghost can ride the hype to PC.
Excited? No, I am not a child
But, I would like to watch it, once it's made.
I enjoyed the game, the second part of it was so dramatic compared to the first part. Or maybe I just needed time to live my character's life.
Fingers crossed for the movie.
LoL this will be full on cringe 🤣
@Krysus yea hype will all it will be 🤣
@CWill97 That would ruin the movie just use Asian people keep it original. Not every movie has to be with the same characters. I love that Ghost of Tsushima is made with reality.
I can picture a white washed mess or even worse, korean Canadians playing a Japanese (like the Korean Canadian guy who was Chinese shang chi) but hey they can white wash it/get the wrong Asians all they want but please have Takeshi kitano and the guy who was scorpion in the last mk movie
@Flaming_Kaiser I don’t know how anyone could take that comment as anything but sarcasm but here we are…
Tom Cruise as Jin Sakai. Cannot be more obvious!!!
I imagine the current writer's strike has this project on pause right now, though hopefully it can still release within a few years.
@Bezel It's coming out the 9th of August 2024, the official film account tweeted it 3 weeks ago.
