Now that we finally know the release date for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, it's time for Sony to get the marketing machine in gear. That starts, as usual, with pre-order incentives and various retail editions — and those have also now been detailed over on the PS Blog.
All pre-orders for the game are set to go live on 16th June, meaning that's when you'll be able to put your name down for a copy — whether it's physical or digital. Pre-ordering any version will net you early access to two in-game costumes, one for Peter and one for Miles, as well as three colour variants for each. Plus, you'll get access to the Web Grabber gadget and three skill points.
The standard version of the game on disc or download will set you back an expected £69.99 / $69.99, but there are other versions you'll be able to splash out on.
The Digital Deluxe edition costs a tenner more and gets you:
- All pre-order bonuses
- 10 unique suits (5 for Peter, 5 for Miles)
- Additional Photo Mode frames and stickers
- 2 additional skill points
Then there's the physical Collector's edition. It includes everything in the Digital Deluxe edition, plus:
- Steelbook® case
- 19-inch statue featuring the two Spider-Men fighting Venom
This one will set you back £219.99 / $229.99 and is exclusive to PlayStation Direct.

I'm going for Deluxe as the statue doesn't really appeal to me.
I wish they had a physical with the steelbook and digital stuff. I'm still getting the game, though.
Even if the Collector's Edition wasn't incredibly expensive, I'd have to get the regular edition since it's the only one that comes with a physical copy. It's really stupid the route Sony has gone with including a digital copy even in a physical collector's edition for games.
£220! Wowsers games have got expensive!
wow Sony really doesn't want any more of my money for game editions, if their digital code for any special edition is anything to go by. The only reasoning that made sense, was them not wanting to make 3 different CE's for a game, but this doesn't make a lick of sense now that games are leaving the ps4 behind.
Like whats the point of a digital exclusive special edition, when you're going to add a digital code to the physical CE?
Looks like it's basic edition for any Sony first party game from now on. Pretty bummed about that ngl
That fact they give you a steelbook with the CE is their way of saying "Please also buy a standard version of the game".
I'll take just the standard disc version, thank you!
Digital Deluxe for me.
I wish it were more clear if the unique digital deluxe costumes were only available via ths edition or if they were earnable in game. I'm leaning towards the digital deluxe edition, but the value would decrease if everything in that edition were just early unlocks. I'm a patient person, so paying more for early access to something does not appeal to me.
@Yosuke
They want to make one collector's edition, not two.
So the over 200€£$ comes with a digital code and a steelbook case?? That makes so much sense. Is that so you can stare at it wishing you only payed 70 for a game with an actual disc.
@TheCollector316 No, they seem to be locked to it.
CE without a disc? Pass
@AndyKazama I guess it prevents people from buying the physical Collector's edition, keeping all the collectibles then selling the disc on - making them lose a potential sale. The greedy Bsrds.
@Hisui25002
That's what I am thinking, but it's unclear.
How is this any different than the Horizon Forbidden West CE? It came with a steel case and just a download code.
Sony Locked the Steelbook behind the Collector's Edition because of course they f-n' did.
Hard Pass, I refuse to support that anti-consumer BS. Just a basic Physical copy for me it is.
Is there a lone steelbook edition?
If not, I'll likely just get the standard version.
Insomniac confirmed a standalone digital deluxe upgrade path, so I'll be just pre-ordering the physical Standard Edition.
