Final Fantasy XVI is a fantastic example of how a well-timed demo can generate a lot of excitement in the lead-up to a game's release, but Insomniac Games has confirmed it won't be following in Square Enix's footsteps for the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The developer said via its Twitter account there are "no plans for a demo".
Pre-release demos aren't really a thing for Sony studios; neither Marvel's Spider-Man nor Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales got one so this news comes as little surprise. What will be a possibility is a Time Limited Trial via a PS Plus Premium subscription after launch. Sony has published demos of up to two to three hours for its first-party games via the membership service, allowing you to sample the likes of God of War Ragnarok for a short time.
Since there's no way to gain early access to the full PS5 game either, the release date of 20th October 2023 is when everyone will start playing. While the PS Store offers a Digital Deluxe Edition, its contents are tied to exclusive suits, skill points, and Photo Mode items rather than the chance to play ahead of time. There's simply no way of getting around it: we'll need to wait until 20th October 2023 to play Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Not even a PS5 demo will help pass the time.

Doesn’t really need one tbf. If you’ve played the other two games then you know exactly what you’re getting.
Pretty sure this is one of those “either you’re getting it or you aren’t” types of games. Not exactly who might be surprised at what they’re getting with a Spider-Man game, let alone the third on in a particular series.

Who even asked for one ?
There's already two demos available, just boot up either of the two Marvel's Spider-Man games 🤷
What’s the point? Just play 1 and MM.
Edit: well, I’m completely unoriginal it seems, lol.
Massive red flag
A demo would be for those that haven't played the first game. I know I haven't. I just don't care for many super hero games.
There is a 5 hour demo for this and it's called Spiderman: Miles Morales
I'm just glad they are not selling early access to their games. Why people would pay more just to play an even worse version of a game is beyond me

I wasnt expecting a demo. Square Enix have been on a roll with demos of all their games which I really appreciate. But it's not need here.
To put it more "constructively"
I'm surprised this tweet has spawned an entire article, for the reasons mentioned by the author.
No demo needed to be sold on this lol
Love Insomniac but boo👎
Demos/trials should be required from AAA on digital stores.
Gotta be honest I'm still slightly Expecting a delay on this one.
What's there to "demo"?
It would be a waste of time and resources to make one, since the sequel is very similar gameplaywise to the first games.
Not to mention, no matter how close to perfection they would make it, even minor issues would no doubt instigate a lot of social media drama, backlash against the devs, and even threats....
They took the best approach from any p.o.v.
@Volsung_Fjorgynnson No, they absolutely should not.
Demos require either an entirely separate team to produce, or the devs have to stop working on the game itself to make a demo. It's not just copy/paste a section of the full game. A demo is, for all intents and purposes, a game on its own that require all the same things a full game requires.
I could be wrong, but I don't recall there being a demo for the first one or Miles Morales, so this comes as no surprise. While it's nice that companies like Square Enix and Capcom usually always have one for their games, the lack of a demo for most PlayStation Studios game is to be expected.
I don't need one or even wanted one, but this did remind me of something that Sony said was supposed to be a new requirement when the new PS Plus tiers were coming out. "Game developers are reportedly now required to create timed game demos for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers. Going forward, any game that costs $34 or higher must have an accompanying game trial for Sony's subscription service that lasts for at least 2 hours." Oops....
@GeneJacket that just not true bro XD
Demos are a double-edged swords. Like cybersecurity, you only have to be wrong one time. Wonder what the percentage of games that get good publicity from demos? This game is going to sell on name recognition, regardless.
No need for a Spiderman 2.spiderman is amazing.word up son
So this is to hit piece for Starfield. Got it.
I would just like to know how similar it is to the first two. There are things I enjoyed (story, character development, combat, motion) and things I heavily disliked (collectibles and needless busy work, certain characters, generic open world filler).
After Elden Ring, I believe my standards for games have shot right up. Nothing as of yet has even touched it.
@Bentleyma absolutely! They were great games played them both. But I have a bit of Spiderman fatigue. I'm going to pass on this 3rd entry. Just so much more to play that's different right now. Wolverine I am looking forward too and that's one of the best marvel characters to me and it hasent been over saturated.
@Triumph741 i hope this wasn't serious ?
there wasn't a demo for any of the other spiderman games , i'd rather they finish the game so its not delayed any more.
I mean, you can demo Ragnarok despite basically knowing what to expect if you've played the first game. So not sure why the idea of a demo is so crazy. Honestly it'd be nice to know what's changed.
Man, remember when macho man Randy Savage was in the Spider Man movie? Anyway I'm really enjoying WWE 2K14. They certainly don't make em like that anymore...
@LordBakemono that totes am true bro XD
I'm begging all of you, learn even the tiniest sliver of how development works before running your mouths.
The other two Spider games didn’t get a demo either. Wasn’t expecting one for this one either. Cannot wait for this though loved the two games
They know this is going to sell 10 million + copies within weeks without the need for a demo.
I anticipate it to be the highest selling game of the year if it matches the numbers the first game did in 2018.
@GeneJacket dude listen to what you're saying, if demos took the same amount of time, resources and money than a complete game companies wouldn't be giving them for free XD, i mean you got to be trolling, if not... sad
@LordBakemono My man, learn to understand context. When I say demos take the same things as a full game, I mean they take the same THINGS, i.e. time/money/resources...not the exact same AMOUNT of those things. When devs build a demo, they use all of the same processes and pipelines they use to build a full game, and MOST teams don't have the bandwidth to do both simultaneously. So, obviously, they either have to stop working on the game to develop a demo, or the demo has to be outsourced to a separate team. That's the reality of the business and developers literally spent the last 20 years complaining about E3 demos because they add an extra 6-12 months of development time and crunch that they don't want to deal with.
@GeneJacket this is what you said "A demo is, for all intents and purposes, a game on its own that require all the same things a full game requires." you said ALL, and now you're going back on what you said after i pointed to you how utterly dumb you're original comment was, but anyways nice to meet you il be hitting the ignore button bc you sir are duuuumb XD
What everyone else has been saying, no need for a demo just play Spidey 2018 and Miles Morales.
While Spidey 2 does have alot of new abilities and a completely different storyline, at it's core it's prob still similar.
