Well, this is absolutely stupid – but not especially surprising! Scalpers are attempting to flog access to Mortal Kombat 1’s ongoing Online Stress Test for prices ranging anywhere up to $1,000 on eBay. That’s several times the price of the full game, by the way, for a beta which is scheduled to run through 26th June, 2023.
A quick look on the popular auction site reveals a variety of listings for the multiplayer test, some of which have multiple bids on them – although it’s impossible to know whether they’re legitimate bidders, or just fans trying to disrupt the obvious scalping taking place.
The most worrying part about all this is that developer NetherRealm Studios has already confirmed the game will be getting another beta in August, and everyone will be guaranteed access to that as long as they pre-order the game. You can find out more about how to participate in that upcoming test through the link.

It is normal for people to feel stressed about this. It's a stress test after all.
I'll see myself out
I can't really blame them for it when some maniac is willing to spend $227 for a code they've presumably been emailed for free
I don’t see evidence that they are selling these codes. In this moment they are offering them, and there are bids which could also fail due to fake accounts, which shall serve the purpose of disrupting the scalpers‘ business. Please stay precise in your titles!
Sounds bad, but I would do the same, if people are willing to pay and I can pay bills.
I love fake biddings. Hope they continue and these ***** just sit there with what they have without getting any money.
Scalpers would sell their grandmas if they thought it would make them tons of money.
And who would buy a stress test code? Have to be an idiot to buy 1.
$1000 to play a very small chunk of a game that is out in just a few months...for a weekend.
Honestly if anyone actually buys these things...I don't even know what to say. You got way too much money to blow. 😂
They can keep them. SF6 is so much fun for me at the moment.
Who's buying this stuff? Stop buying it. You don't need to buy this. It's not that important.
Who the hell is THAT desperate that they need to buy a stress test code for $200?
Ugh people r dumb and should not be allowed to have disposable income like this 😒 smh 😤
Only thing "absolutely stupid" is the people paying that.
@Drago201 People can buy whatever they want and gamers talking about spending money is a little ironic. None of us need to buy any game or game system, ever. It's all discretionary spending, (unless you're a professional gamer.) Having said that, yes that's a moronic amount of money to pay.
Let's be real here. Anyone falling victim to scalper economics merely to play yet another samey underwhelming mortal combat entry, deserve to fall victim to scalper predation.
In a perfect world, anyone would tell those scalpers to f...k right off. Unfortunately, there are quite a lot of wealthy ar$$e rich players out there, for which 500-1000$ is less than what they spend on the morning coffee... The main reason the scalpers still have a booming business. Not to mention the lack of legislation to counter this phenomenon...
I guess we'll see them all again at the next console or GPU launch.
Only in America!! 🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂
There would be no scalpers if there were no idiots, as with many other things…
If someone is willing to pay for something, and someone is willing to sell that something, and they both have the freedom to act on their desires, then this is the result.
The developer can solve this if they want to. If they said "We'll invite some people to the beta for free, but anybody who wants in can pay us $100 for an invite (full game not included)," then would people still be upset? Even if they only sold one such invite...why not?
