Gacha game Tower of Fantasy is free-to-play, but that’s not stopping publisher Perfect World from opening pre-orders for the PS5 and PS4 version from 20th June. We’re going to assume these will come with various in-game bonuses like virtual currency, but it’s not specifically explained on the PS Blog what those who purchase can expect, aside from some exclusive PlayStation bonuses.
Those items include various cosmetics, including a couple of outfits, a race car skin, a jet pack skin, and more. Lead designer Sky Wang added that the visuals of the title will be massively improved on console, specifically on PS5: “In addition to allowing players to freely customize their characters on a high-definition screen, cutting-edge ray tracing technology is also used to experience the appeal of an open world with higher quality graphics.”
If you enjoy games like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, then this is shaping up to be another serious time sink on PlayStation platforms. We’ll try and clarify with Perfect World whether the game will be free-to-play on PS5 and PS4 when it launches later this summer, and if so, what the pre-order items include.

I'd rather them make it a paid game with the gacha mechanics removed or made it very easy to earn currency in the game.
I'm honestly a little surprised Xbox didn't try to lock this one down considering how salty they are over Genshin Impact but I'm looking for nonetheless.
I played it briefly but it was no Genshin - in my humble opinion
Perfect world are still going . Shame.
Looks interesting but this kind of games are timesink, I don't have time to play it seriously. Still interested in honkai star rail when it's available on ps5 though 😃
Was wondering how long it would take Perfect World to go full tilt on consoles. Their original game for the PC was great not counting the 5 pay currencies. Maybe another 3 faction system?
@Enuo Considering ToF is not even remotely close to Genshin’s quality, I think they made the right decision. It’s half-baked all the way through.
I’ve played it for quite a bit and it’s decent but certainly no GI-killer. I’m glad it’s coming to PS since that means we’re getting proper controller support.
What kind of game is this like? Closer to Genshin of Phantasy Star Online? I'm not really a fan of either so hopefully it's more it's own thing. Still waiting for a good new MMO to come to the system, I could use a new game to focus all my time on (screw you BDO!)
I am just gonna say it. Don't do it. ToF is not good. Empty, bland world. If you're walking into this expecting Genshin/Honkai you are gonna be VERY disappointed. It's even trying really hard to make you spend money. Oh and the PC version has been out for ages now, and it still runs like junk. I cannot imagine the console version is gonna be any better.
I'll be waiting for reviews, but have a feeling I'll be passing.
Already don't have the time for Genshin Impact, and Honkai: Star Rail will be releasing Fall 2023 lol...
