In conjunction with today's PS Store Days of Play sale, Sony has knocked 25 per cent off the price of a 12-month PS Plus subscription for all three tiers. The offer is available now until 12th June 2023 and is open to "new members, existing members, and upgrades". With the price cuts applied, PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium for one year cost the following:
- PS Plus Essential — £37.49 / $44.99 (down from £49.99 / $59.99)
- PS Plus Extra — £62.99 / $74.99 (down from £83.99 / $99.99)
- PS Plus Premium — £74.99 / $89.99 (down from £99.99 / $119.99)
The 25 per cent discount only applies to one-year memberships, and won't be applied to one-month or three-month subscriptions. While you can upgrade to a higher tier of PS Plus, it's worth keeping in mind you cannot downgrade to anything lower than your current tier. To do so, you would need to let your membership lapse and then sign up again for the new tier you want.

What I did, was spend £75 on discounted digital wallet funds, which is less than I'd happily spend for the year long Extra sub anyway! Then I got the discounted Plus Extra Sub for a year at £62.99, and ended up with £32.01 credit left in my PSN wallet. And I don't need to tell you that £32 is £20 more than the £12 net difference that I actually spent. Clever 😁
Now the decision is, waste the bonus funds on Saints Row, or put it towards a good game 😂
The main annoyance as I recall though is unlike when you had "brick & mortar" retail sales on ps plus you could add extra subscriptions without problem....But try to buy a PS Plus extension online & it PSN Store won't let you complete the transaction unless you add a suitable credit/debit card details for subsequent renewal! I assume you can hopefully remove it but its a lot of stuffing around for what used to be a straightforward procedure!😕
@Ravix Where do you get discounted wallet funds? I can’t ever find that in the states.
@SgtTruth As someone who had Premium I can confirm, absolutely not worth it.
@FatalBubbles no idea about the US. We have shopto and cdkeys in the UK, but they are definitely region locked codes so don't try it, unless they offer a specific US version, which, again, I'm not sure if they do.
UK users, definitely do this though for an extra saving, or, like me pay a touch more to get the extra free credit on top if you buy digital games anyway
@Ravix CDKeys has them in the states but it’s like $24.09 for $25 which isn’t even worth it.
My Extra subscription is good until January and I'm sure there'll be other chances for a 25% off deal along the way, if not slightly better. So I'm fine for now.
@FatalBubbles yeah, that's not the same kind of saving 😳 I don't know how they do it, but in the UK it's £15 off £90 worth of credit, and PS stars topped it up to £95 credit for a £75 spend.
Have you checked if the savings increase for larger top ups, by the way?
@Ravix I thought everyone did that?! Anyone who pays full PSN price for subs or games are doing it wrong.
For games, I don't even use the UK store. Pre-ordered FFXVI for £32 the other day from the Turkey store.
Great savings out there if you look in the right places.
@Gaia093 yeah, I think there was usually a Black Friday deal, so I think I'll hold off as well
@Gamer_Guy I've done it wrong in the past, as I couldn't be bothered using third party sites, and sometimes the old impulse control and wallet act like excited children and just hit buy on the PS Store 😁 But it's surprisingly easy to get that extra saving in about a minute.
PS should still do more when it comes to digital pricing, mind you, as a lot of people are casual gamers. That's my main criticism for Sony. Not endless sales, release date vs demand based decreases in RRP/digital store price.
Oh and I cba with the store location stuff, as of yet, it feels like a dirty trick 😆 but yeah, if there's a need for further reductions, I'm pleased people take advantage of that loophole. I'd prefer if Sony re-evaluated their digital store sales practises though.
So glad I didn’t renew my Premium membership in November! I chose to let my subscription lapse and move to Extra, even though that would cost more than the discounted Premium price. Since my subscription lapsed yesterday I can get the level I want and save money, too!
ShopTo have £40 PS Wallet top-up cards for £35.85 so you can have 12 months of Essential and still have £2.51 to go towards a game.
Or, if you have a few quid in your wallet already, £30.85 gets you a £35 wallet top up.
£80 wallet top up is just £66.85 if you fancy Extra or Premium or multiple Essentials.
I’m confused. Was on Extra, Premium 12 months wouldn’t show so I upgraded rest of month to Premium. I can now see 12 months of Premium but not with the discount?
Is ~$67 a price with a discount or is it a full price for 12-month PS+ Deluxe?
Checked my sub and I’m good through the end of March 2027. I’ve been signed up since the Qore days, so, yeah…I have a problem.
@Liam would you be so kind to post information about PS+ Deluxe as well, in future? Not all countries have Premium plan available.
Funny enough, re-upping my sub will be the first Playstation purchase of 2023.
Is there a limit on how many years you can stack?
My PS+ sub (premium) is due for renewal in a few weeks, so this is perfect timing 🙂
Just took advantage of this for another year of Extra. The best discount on ShopTo right now is the £84 card for £69.85 which is 16.8% off. The £80 card is 16.4% off, etc (I ended up writing a script to crush the numbers, output at the end).
That left £21.01, of which I spent £15.99 on Burning Shores, so I still have £5.02 sitting in my wallet
£10 costs £9.85: 1.50% discount
£5 costs £4.85: 3.00% discount
£20 costs £18.85: 5.75% discount
£15 costs £13.85: 7.67% discount
£25 costs £22.85: 8.60% discount
£30 costs £26.85: 10.50% discount
£35 costs £30.85: 11.86% discount
£40 costs £34.85: 12.87% discount
£50 costs £42.85: 14.30% discount
£100 costs £84.85: 15.15% discount
£90 costs £75.85: 15.72% discount
£45 costs £37.85: 15.89% discount
£32 costs £26.85: 16.09% discount
£80 costs £66.85: 16.44% discount
£84 costs £69.85: 16.85% discount
@theheadofabroom 3 days ago I got 45£ card for 36.11£ which was best value at the time, but now it is raised to 37.09£. I have gold account with them thats why my prices have slightly lower price.
@REALAIS ah, I don't shop with them often enough to make gold worthwhile, but it's useful info
Might pick up another year of Premium.
Basic is usually £24.99 just after Christmas 26th/27th) that’s what I got it for for the last 2 years
So I can get 25% off extending my plan. But after I do that, does the button change to "Buy Again" so I can add a year, with the same 25% discount? Is there any limit to stacking?
@frankmcma yes, your wallet.
Further to what others have said about getting discounted codes, I just got an £84 code from ShopTo for £69.
I had Premium since it launched, paid about £83 for the discounted code at that time, and for me, Premium simply isn't worth £100 a year, it wasn't worth the £83 I actually paid.
So I will go with Extra.
The price is not that much higher than extra, but I will not support that tier for the dross it has had, and game trials and streaming games do not interest me.
I played just one Premium game in the past year Ghostbusters Remastered.
Well that was mad; £37.49 for a year of PS+ Essential or £38.42 for a year of PS+ and an instant upgrade for the remainder of my current sub giving a total of 550 days of Extra - renewing 4/12/2024??
