Its latest trailer gave us an idea of how upcoming action RPG Fate/Samurai Remnant actually plays, but a new post on the PlayStation Blog from director Ryota Matsushita provides some welcome details. We've also got some fresh screenshots, which is always nice.
Set in 17th century Japan, Fate/Samurai Remnant puts you in the shoes of a swordsman named Miyamoto Iori, but you won't be playing as him alone. In battle, it looks like you'll be utilising both Miyamoto and Saber — his summoned, super powerful servant.
"With a single swing, Saber can blast away legions of monsters and push away enemy Servants with the force of their violent water currents," Matsushita writes. Basically, it sounds like Saber may act as a vessel for your special moves — a way to even the odds when you're surrounded by enemies. There's mention of combos as well, and especially strong 'Affinity Techniques'.
Outside of combat, Miyamoto acts as something of a guide for Saber, showing them around an unfamiliar world. The two characters can bolster their bond by exploring towns, apparently. Oh, and interacting with cats and dogs restores your health. Just like in real life!
All in all, Fate/Samurai Remnant seems quite promising, although it's worth mentioning it's part of an incredibly packed release schedule that stretches through September and October (it's currently locked in the for 29th September on PS5 and PS4).
Will you be making room for this one? Summon your own all-powerful servant in the comments section below.

Man anime-style video games have been going OFF since they started breaking away from the 3D arena fighter and musou genres.
@Brydontk To be fair this does sound a bit like a musou — it's at least got lots of enemies on screen — but I agree!
I'll keep my eye on this. I think the story, side activities, in addition to non warriors combat being good will make my decision for this one?
@ShogunRok As far as I know we're not getting a new Musou game any time soon. So this suits me just fine.
