Once upon a time, EA had a partners program which saw it add some lower-profile titles to its catalogue, including Alice: Madness Returns and Shadows of the Damned. The latter, a collaboration between Suda51’s Grasshopper Manufacturer and Resident Evil 4’s Shinji Mikami, was a grisly, largely forgettable third-person shooter. And now it’s getting a remaster.
More details will be announced during a Grasshopper Manufacture livestream on 14th June, 2023, but you can check out the first teaser trailer embedded above. No platforms have been announced at this stage, but it’s probably safe to expect PS5 and PS4, seeing as the original launched on PS3. In fact, you can still read our original review through here.

Amazing! Unbelievable! I can’t wait!
Pretty cool, I mean however long from Grasshopper's next game why not. Hopefully it's not too different like Lollipop Chainsaw remake/remaster is but still cool to see.
Shadows Of The Damned wasn’t all that good IMHO but I loved ALICE: Madness Returns. THAT is what should get a remake. Just my 2 cents worth……
All I want to know is how this affects the value of my PS3 copy.
Game was great! I will fight anyone who says otherwise in a kiddie pool filled with cheese whiz and crocodiles.
What are the odds? I remembered this game just this week...how much I hated the chase sequences cause they gave me so much anxiety ahah
Thats good.i play it on my ps3 years ago.shadow of the damned is welcome.word up son
This is what im talking about! Amazing game! Cant wait to platinum it all over again
@DETfaninATL Unfortunately that is most likely never going to happen because the original creator was actually planning on making a sequel to the game and EA just outright declined the making of it :/
Largely forgettable? Pfft, says you, Sammy. 🤮 SotD was fantastic.
haha nice. i beat this game sort of recently actually... about 2 years ago. fun game but has some noticeable flaws. quite enjoyable on the whole if you are OK with the b-movie vibe it was going for... i don't think i need to replay it at a higher resolution, though.
@Nepp67 That’s a real bummer to hear. A sequel to that game would have been fantastic! Oh well……..go figure and F EA!! LOL
Neat! Looking past its flaws I quite enjoyed the original game.
@ManifoldCuriosity
It hovers around £25-30. It’s a perennial fluctuator.
If priced fairly will pick this up hopefully we hear more soon on the Lolipop chainsaw remaster as well
One of my favourite games of all time. I played it on the Xbox and got every achievement, which, if I recall correctly, meant playing the game through at least 3 times, and would, therefore have earned me the Platinum had I played it on the PlayStation.
Absolutely stoked for this. So impressed with this game, was I, that I pre-ordered Lollipop Chainsaw, and was left so disappointed. I cannot say whether it was a good game really, as I didn't get very far in it. It was such a departure from Shadow Of The Damned that I soon gave up. I'll definitely be pre-ordering the remaster...
Where is Lollipop Chainsaw remake though? I am much more interested in that.

Same opinion as all of you! I lost my mind when this dropped before the Devolver Direct happened.
Fingers crossed we won't have to wait long for the release, maybe Early 2024?
@DETfaninATL Alice: Madness Returns remaster or remake is unlikely, due to EA denying the creator from releasing a 3rd Alice game.
@Loamy Oh the franchise is dead and buried. The creator can't do anything since EA fully owns the rights.
@KidRyan I own the platinum for the first game, one of my top 5 ps3 games ever.
Here's hoping for remasters of the other side 51 titles
@Suda51ueda I dunno about top 5, but I did enjoy the game and am happy it left such a positive impression on you.
Top 5 ,nothing else is as creative or edgy as this game on ps3.
