The upcoming game adaptation of the sci-fi series of the same name, The Expanse: A Telltale Series, is coming to PS5 and PS4, with the first five episodes dropping on 27th July. We got a new trailer showing off some gameplay, which we've seen scant little of up until this point.
Now to be clear, this isn't the OG Telltale team; that company dramatically imploded a couple of years back in a twist many saw coming. Hermit-crabbing inside an already recognisable (and at one stage, widely respected) name, The Expanse is being developed by Deck Nine and published by LCG Entertainment.
Still, if you missed that hot moment in time when we were swimming in episodic narrative content, your chance to live it again is fast approaching. What do you think of The Expanse: A Telltale Series? Will you give this doppelganger a go? Let us know in the comments section below.

I'll wait for a dirt cheap sale on the future complete package with all episodes and DLC.
Still need to watch the actual series, so I'm in no hurry to play haha.
@KidRyan To be fair, it's a prequel so you don't need to read the books or watch the series, first.
Do you mean first of five episodes dropping July 27th or first five episodes dropping July 27th?
I've been eagerly awaiting more news about this game. Looking forward to it.
Don’t really know anything about The Expanse, but I really enjoy Telltale games, so this being a prequal, I’ll give it a go!
Loved the TV series was criminally underrated and I will buy this day one. Can’t wait. Totally hyped. I hope the writer’s of the books were involved in this game as well.
@Bentleyma The Expanse is the best sci-fi show in the last 10-15 years. You should give it a try. Just the first season has a slow start but the last couple of episodes of the first season are incredible and set the tone. Every following season got 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Bezos loved the TV so much he bought the franchise just to keep watching it for a few more seasons.
Hoping this is really good, but never a fan of other companies buying a brand name to use for clout.
This isn't a ship of Theseus position where new staff work at an old company, instead it's a completely different company masquerading as Telltale.
Furthermore Deck Nine made the excellent Life is Strange True Colours, and the slightly less good LiS: Before the Storm, I think they should be using their own provenance as a selling point rather than pretending to be someone else, it's dishonest.
@ShadowofSparta They are episodic, but unlike the old Telltale they have guaranteed there will be a new episode every 2 weeks.
Personally not a fan of episodic gaming so will be waiting till it's all done and for full reviews.
@BadPlayerOne I liked the slow start. It helped ease normies like me I to the more fantastical parts of the big story.
I’ve never watched the show but I added this to my wish list because I loved all the previous Telltale games. I know it’s not the same team working on this one but hopefully it’s as good as the old Telltale games were.
Huge fan of the books and show. Really looking forward to this one!
@Fyz306903 Fair point, but I feel like I'd be way more invested if I've seen the series.
Not to mention the chance that the game might spoiler the TV series for me.
(I do plan to eventually watch the TV series)
