Third-person shooter JUMANJI: The Video Game didn’t exactly attract stellar reviews, but it was a big hit for family-friendly publisher Outright Games, and so it’s perhaps no surprise it’s teamed up with Sony Pictures Entertainment on a follow-up for PS5 and PS4. Due out on 3rd November, the newly announced JUMANJI: Wild Adventures looks like a distinctly different type of experience – it almost resembles classic Crash Bandicoot in a few of the trailer’s scenes.
Much like its predecessor, it’s a co-op focused experience, with the likenesses of key cast members like The Rock and Kevin Hart included. “Players will have to work together as they find themselves back in the vast world of Jumanji, where they will be tasked with finding The Jewel of Jumanji, a mysterious artefact that is the key to finding their way back home,” the press release reads.
Apparently this game will be four times bigger than its predecessor, with a “vast world to explore, including uncharted jungles, forgotten villages, and icy mountains”. You will be able to play through the game solo, but it does seem like the local co-op is the focus. There is a new Jumanji movie on the way, but it’s not due out this year, so the game’s going to have to standalone this time.

This is like the 3rd or 4th jumanji reboot tie in game. I remember the original one being a fortnite STW clone.
They skinned R&C:A4O and turned it into a really janky PS2 game. 😂
If it’s 4 player couch co-op I’d probably buy it for $20. 😁
The first was one of the worst games I've played in a long long time. I'm actually disappointed to hear it sold so well
My wife picked up the first on Switch for like $15. It looked and played like a PS2 game but released 20 years later. I have no idea why a sequel would be warranted. Is the new movie releasing soon?
Finally something that will justify its 60€ price tag
Who buys these kind of games at 60 bucks?
I legitimately would want to meet and shake hands with the person that would pay $60 for this! them asking for $20 would still be extremely bold and courageous
Those levels look genuinely ripped straight out of Crash Bandicoot 😂 what the hell
I didn't mind the previous game it wasn't great but passed an evening with my partner, but did get free with PS plus extra. I am not sure I would have the same opinion if i had to pay for it!
Hooo...! 😯
Another games by Outright Games ? 😃
@Americansamurai1
"Who buys these kind of games at 60 bucks?"
Me
I like to buy certain games by Outright Games.
I have quite a lot of them.
@Juanalf
Sign me in. 😎
I have quite a lot of games by Outright Games on PS4.
@NEStalgia
What year is this?
This is 2023.
@Anti-Matter So how's work coming along on the game? You guys planning to use some of the Dualsense features like haptic feedback? 🙂
Your are all not the demographic for these types of games and many always forget this.
Kids still want to play games and its actually becoming really hard to find games with local co op and easy enough to understand.
My kids loved the other one, as they could play it together.
Its just like how so many mock Knack, but the actually demographic for that games were for kids or people coming over from mobile games.
Simple controls with a small amount of depth.
My 8 year old has completed knack 1 and 2 at least 10 times and couldn't believe you can play the second game in local co op and now he plays it with his brother.
We are missing these types of games for the younger generation. It all seems if it ain't mature or have deep learning controls then its not worth making.
@Juanalf
The games by Outright Games are for kids.
They have simple control to play by kids.
@Bez87
Kudos for Outright Games who still provide games for kids on modern consoles. 👍
Judging from the screenshots, this 100% legit looks like a PS2 game that's been upscaled in an emulator with an hd texture pack applied
Which isn't a bad thing, per say, it's just weird how that's the first thing that crossed my mind when I looked at the screenshots
Like if it had more of a stylized look to it, it would be fine, but it just looks so dated
I thought it wasn't that bad then I saw footage and went oh....
I mean Strange Bridge by Rebellion is better and has more depth to it. Depends how the others are but the 1st Jumanji modern game is so safe and quickly rushed out the door.
I mean even Uncharted 3's 5 chapter multiplayer story missions were more fun than Jumanji.
I didn't like Ratchet All For One and didn't beat it for 10 years till I did in singleplayer it was played what once in multiplayer and that's it. It sat on the shelf and I played it singleplayer a few times (I almost finished QForce/Full Frontal Assault as the tower defence angle was more exciting even in singleplayer).
Or Fuse which I did beat in less then 10 years I had more fun with for some reason and did beat co-op or singleplayer by myself so beat it 2 times.
I'm not against multiplayer focused games of this sort but I mean they can be either bland or effective at using each characters and their abilities or using the same weapons/different ones and their specialities, the multiplayer opening doors, avoiding obstacles and not letting the team down or combat or puzzles but I mean there is a limit and a depth needed to them.
A simple co-op campaign mode or odd modes in singleplayer based games in the PS3/360 era were more exciting and plentiful even so games to recommend from that era are and still are better than anything eighth/ninth gen has been I find of a few co-op split-screen sure like Borderlands are great even if 1 of many in PS3/360 era there in comparison, mostly online these days and the only split screen were the good ones by the It Takes Two/A Way Out team (may be others I'm unaware of that's very likely yes) and ARPGs/isometric RPGs mostly popping up from time to time or what Lego games you were ok with the license to play.
@Bez87 yes, you are correct! My kids love Knack too, and they will probably enjoy this too, and I'll probably play with them. Not sure on the $60 price tag though. Maybe when it's on sale.
@Bez87 I fully agree with you, but can't see myself ever paying full price.
Will wait for $20 sale or free with PS+.
@Bingbongboyo
Not a chance paying that much for it either.
These games should be 30.
But knack all my kids say is when is the 3rd game coming hahaha
Its a shame the game market aims more at mature games and complex games and not a mixture of simple games aswel.
I did enjoy playing ninja turtles shredders revenge with my kids
@Bez87 oh, I'll have to look into Shredders Revenge. Thanks for the recommendation!
@Bingbongboyo brilliant game, modern take on the old side scroller turtle games. The cowabunga collection is great to but the games are old and my kids aren't that appreciative in regards to the history of games unfortunately, unlike myself haha.
Another good one is overcooked all you can eat. Local 4 players, which is alot of fun with the little ones, even if it ends up being how many fires can they set, once they get bored and can't complete a level.
There are a few but its definitely getting harder to find games for them.
@Bez87 yes! We love Overcooked! And yes, it is being harder to find these type of games. The excitement levels in my house for the pigeon rhythm game (Headbangers Rhythm Royale) that's coming out soon is very high, again, because it looks like a game we can all play together (and, I guess, because you play a dancing pigeon! Haha!). They look at me with bemused wonder when I explain to them that I played a game called Potty Pigeon back on the C64, where the sole purpose was to poop on people! Hahaha!
