Disney Speedstorm has been playable on PS5 and PS4 since April of this year, albeit in an early access capacity. Players would need to pay to gain access to the almost-but-not-quite-complete version of the kart racer, but this period of the game's existence is coming to an end. Developer Gameloft has confirmed the official, full, free-to-play launch of the title, and it's coming pretty soon.
Speedstorm will be arriving on 28th September 2023, concluding its early access phase and moving to a free-to-play model. If you purchased a premium founder's pack to play the early version, you'll of course be able to continue playing past this date and retain any bonus content.
"Since the launch of Early Access, we’ve received invaluable feedback and support from players, which have been instrumental in shaping Disney Speedstorm into the incredible racing experience it is today," game manager Aska Suzuki says. "Our incredible community's enthusiasm, dedication, and love for the game have been our inspiration from day one, and we can't wait to continue this journey together as we enter this exciting new phase."

I reckon this gets shut down within two years.
I bought in to the early access and have really enjoyed it. It’s one of the few games that implements live service elements very well…so far. The progression system actually fixes the incentive problem that Mario Kart 8 has, where pretty much everything is handed to you out of the gate.
I'd love to know why it went free to play so much quicker than Disney Dreamlight Valley. Easier monetisation?
@Amnesiac same here, caved and bought the founder's pack and have been enjoying the multiplayer and all
I’ve also enjoyed it but I have progressively felt it getting stale. I think it needs a lot more content and quicker roll out of new content. They’ve set up well with huge amounts of potential Disney content to dig into. Whether it really lasts is going to hinge on how they manage that. It’s crying out for more game modes and the new race types they introduced with season 2 were far from convincing!
It’s really good. I was going to wait until it went free-to-play, but I enjoyed the PlayStation Plus trial so much that I ended up paying for early access. I’m hoping this get a decent influx of players in September, as it can be hard to get into a full ranked race sometimes.
Like the looks of it, and I'll give it a go. My guess is that I'll enjoy grinding for a week or two then get bored and drop it.
I bought it and am really enjoying it! Could use more tracks but then again, it's still in early access. Hoping when it releases it gets a major addition to content.
