Tactical turn-based reimagined classic Front Mission 1st: Remake is out now, and it looks to have retained the strategic stylings of its PS1 predecessor. We got a nostalgic look at gameplay in a new trailer, and it's making us want to tinker and tweak some mechs, just like in the bad old days.
Developed by Forever Entertainment, Front Mission 1st is the same game but brought forward for a new generation. With updated visuals and reorchestrated soundtrack, it still offers the same level of tactical depth that made the PS1 a Golden Age for the genre and will likely appeal to fans of Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre : Let Us Cling Together craving a sci-fi spin.

Ohh, this looks right up my alley!
I had a friend who bought a snes and he bought this huge thing that plugged into it. This huge thing turned out to be some kind of convertor that enabled him to play import games from japan and america and they ran in full screen (no crappy pal borders.) One of the first games we played was the original front mission and we played it for what seemed like forever. Happy memories indeed from an era long gone. My point being that although i'm getting a bit misty eyed here (or cataracts are to blame) and the nostalgia kick is in full effect i doubt i'd ever play this because i'm enjoying reliving the fond memories and i fear this would take the shine away..i'm sure people will love this but i'll pass..
Any suggestion as to whether there is going to be a review on here?
The title suggests this article is related to a gameplay reveal, not the announcement of the actual release of the game.
I've only ever played the third one on ps1. Still got the fake internet music stuck in my head and the imaginary numbers. Ahh, nostalgia.
@NinjaNicky i know the adapter you are talking about but this one was different. This one was pretty much the same size as the snes and it sat on top of the snes and plugged straight into the cartridge port. I remember he bought it from an electronics store in what was the corn exchange ( before the I.R.A. blew part of it up) and i know he paid a fair chunk of change for it. Playing street fighter 2 was a revelation after playing the pal version for so long and super contra was awesome as well but the best game was super smash T.V. and now i feel really old š
@NinjaNicky i cant find any images of it online which leads me to think that what he bought may not have been cosher. I'm going to give him a call later and see if he can remember what it was called or if he still has it. He was quite the hoarder of all things console related so there is a chance he may recall that beige brick. The one you mentioned was made by datel electronics if i remember and i had one so i could play my import copy of star fox..
Any news regarding PS4/PS5 physical editions?
Edit: there will be a physical edition but it's not announced yet (info found on reddit/twitter)
So tempted by thisāit looks greatābut when it came out on Switch Nintedolife gave it a 5/10, saying the gameplay was an absolute slog. Discouraging me from picking it up, especially after my disappoint with the updated leveling system in Tactics Ogre: Rebornā¦
