If you want to give Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising a go before its launch later this year, you're in luck. The title's open beta is available to download right now on PS5 and PS4, following two days of slightly earlier access for people who signed up. You'll be able to take on other players online and put the game's rollback netcode to the test, which should provide a much more stable experience than what was present in the original Granblue Fantasy Versus.
You'll also be able to sample every playable character (who's been revealed so far), including Rising newcomer Siegfried.
There is a bit of a catch, though: you'll only be able to jump into online matches during set times. We've listed these five-hour testing periods below.
- 28th July
- 6pm PT / 9pm ET / 2am BST until 11pm PT / 2am ET / 7am BST
- 29th July
- 2am PT / 5am ET / 10am BST until 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST
- 30th July
- 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST until 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm BST
Thankfully, you'll still be able to fight against the CPU when online maintenance is ongoing, so it's not a total bust if you do happen to miss out on the network sessions.
Think you'll be diving into Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising this weekend? Or perhaps you're too busy with the Tekken 8 Closed Network Test? Be glad to be a fighting game fan in the comments section below.

I think there might be a typo with the ET time on July 28th. If it’s correct, that would only give someone 1 minute to play 🤣
Edit: Fixed. This comment is now irrelevant 😖
@Impossibilium Thanks for pointing that out, it's fixed now. Time zones are hard!
Definitely gonna be playing this weekend. Now if only I had some friends to try this with 😔 lmao
@ShogunRok You’re welcome. And you’re right, converting time zones really sucks 😖
Edit: Just to prove you more right, I just downloaded the beta and wondered why the servers weren’t up. Forgetting — of course — that it was 9pm Eastern Time, not my time zone 🤣
