"Monster Hunter Now takes the experience of hunting monsters, upgrading your gear and fighting more challenging monsters, and adds real world exploration," a press release explains. "Hunting the most powerful monsters will require teamwork, and players can enjoy the experience of hunting together with up to three other players. The game is also designed with newcomers in mind, and first-time Monster Hunter players will be able to jump right into the action."

It is Monster Hunter so I am going to give it a go. I really don't like to tax my phone with heavy games/location trackers like this but I am willing to give Capcom a shot. If it drains my battery quickly I will delete it post haste!
I love Monster Hunter but I would never touch another Niantic product having seen how they treat the Pokemon Go player base.
This takes free-to-play mechanics to a new low.
They usually let you pay to skip playing the game, giving you rewards by paying real-world money instead of earning it through gameplay — after making the game an intolerable grind-fest if you don’t spend anything on it.
Now they’re rewarding people for not playing the game before it’s even released. What a nightmare. It reinforces my policy of nope-ing out as soon as I see “free-to-play” in a game’s description.
Is it a gacha-type game it's what I come to expect from most mobile games.
@Loamy totally separate from that.
@Impossibilium games have been doing this for a decade minimum. They are giving trinkets, which cost them nothing, to people for signing up.
You may have heard of this technique: it is called marketing. Marketing is where you try to sell your "product" (that's the thing you want people to buy) on the "market" (a market is a place where you buy things. Some people buy things on telephones now!!!!)
@Loamy I'll take any MH announcement on any platform that isn't mobile. I could not care any less if this mobile fails.
