It’s time for a new sports game cycle, with NBA 2K24’s cover star revealed. As is perhaps appropriate following his premature passing three years ago, LA Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant will grace the cover of the standard Kobe Bryant Edition and the special Black Mamba Edition.
2K Sports is expected to fully pull back the curtain on this year’s game later in the week, but for now it’s focusing on the cover reveal. Bryant is obviously one of the NBA’s most decorated players, having won five World Championship rings and two Olympic gold medals. Last year’s game featured a series of playable Michael Jordan moments, and we’d expect a similar mode based on Kobe in this year’s game.

Cheap collector's edition ploy: They already did that in 2K21.
Glad they picked the right person, hopefully we get crossplay this year. Look forward to it as always!
"NBA2K24 will milk the legacy of Kobe Bryant, yet again. MONEY Mentality." I fixed that headline for you.
Wasn't Kobe on the cover a few years ago?
I don't pay a ton of attention to the games so I may be wrong.
It's unfortunate that Kobe played at a time when the NBA's playoff ratings dropped by almost 50% after Jordan and the NBA decided to go full pro wrestling and control who played who, and who would win. So I'll be interested to hear how these "Kobe moments" play out.
A Kobe mode like the Jordan one would be cool. I guess it wouldn’t have the same appeal with regards to recreating historical rules and presentation though, Kobe wasn’t as long ago. I did like the Jordan mode.
Please let there be a Kobe challenge mode this time!! Been a few years since I played 2K but this would be an instant buy for a lot of people. The moments are too many to count. 81 point game, outscoring the whole Dallas team in 3 quarters, game winner vs Suns in 06, epic 45 vs Spurs in 01 Playoffs, 12 threes vs Seattle in 03, 55 (42 in the first half) vs MJ in 03, 2009 Finals game 5, killing the Suns with impossible shots and pat on the back of Alvin Gentry in 2010, buzzer beater over Wade, 61 at MSG, 98 all-star game, 60 point retirement game... Heck, throw in a game where he faces up against T-Mac or Vince Carter in their prime. Those games were bona-fide highlight reels, much like MJ vs Nique in the 80s!
Lol. Could you be more cynical and disingenuous?
Wasn't Bryant credibly accused of serious sexual crimes too?
