Sony is hosting advanced screenings of the Gran Turismo movie for PS Plus subscribers, but only at select cinemas. A promotional email sent out to UK members includes a link to reserve tickets on 8th August at various Showcase, Vue, and Cineworld theatres across the country, a day ahead of the film’s British release on 9th August. The US release will follow on 11th August. It looks like there’ll be showings in Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol, and Sheffield – among others.
Obviously you still have to pay for the tickets – this isn’t a freebie like other PS Plus perks. It looks like there are only single showings, too, so we assume once the theatres are filled, you’re out of luck. We had a brief browse at Birmingham’s Star City, however, and it looked like there were still plenty of seats left, so there’s probably not enormous demand for this opportunity.
We’ll contact Sony and see if it’s offering a similar promotion across Europe and the rest of the world. Either way, it does feel like the marketing is beginning to ramp up for this movie now, after a fairly low-key build-up over the past few months. Are you planning to watch this one when it rolls out? Buckle up in the comments section below.

Pretty sure our Cineworld is the tallest cinema in the world. It’s also worse in every conceivable way than the GFT.
I got an invite, the closest place is a state away 🤷🏽♂️🤣
No thanks, I'll pass. If you made some new and exciting non live service games instead though,... That would be nice
They would have to offer me PS Plus for half a year or more to get me to watch it. I have zero interest in it.
No thanks, I'll grab it on a torrent whenever.
Yup going to my local Cineworld on my doorstep barely a few mins on foot. If enjoyed it enough in cinema then I'll be getting it on physical 4K too which will obviously be in better quality than streaming 4K content that you don't own. Really enjoy movie/documentaries like Senna, Le Mans 66(Ford vs Ferrari), Williams and Rush and being such a huge Gran Turismo fan for 25 plus years now, so this GT movie is right up my alley
Can I watch the movie earlier than those PS Plus members if I bought Diablo 4 Premium Battle Pass by accident when browsing the character equipment menu?
@Czar_Khastik You can, but you have to watch it 50 times first.
@RadioHedgeFund "Man becomes a professional race driver after watching a movie about a racing game 50 times"
wow really adding benefit to the subscription service here
I'd rather have a discount. Is anyone out there actually bothered about seeing this 1 or 2 days early? Is anyone out there actually bothered about seeing this in general?
@Incognito_D
Some people are dissatisfied with everything that is out there... I want to see the movie . And some of my friends too. Have you ever played a GranTurismo?
@nessisonett Glasgow’s Cineworld is indeed the tallest cinema in the world. Walked passed many a time but never actually seen a film there though.
No thanks even if I could watch it at home for free 😂
Looks terrible to me, a total mess 😂
I’d even go on my own if I was close enough 🤣
@ORO_ERICIUS yes - I have played a couple. I just find it funny that they think early access of 1 day(!) is a great offer
Well, you're right about that too. I don't care about the action either, better said, in Germany there isn't anything like that anyway. I also go to the cinema with colleagues who don't have PS Plus ... we have a GranTurismo fan package here in our Cinestar, which includes the ticket, a soft drink, popcorn and a GranTurismo lanyard and 1 sticker. The whole thing for €9.80. Really great price for that all imo.
