With the Gran Turismo movie right around the hairpin bend, Sony will be expecting sales of sim racer Gran Turismo 7 to increase. Polyphony Digital, reliable as ever, has announced that its next free update will release next month, on 7th August. Teased on series creator Kazunori Yamauchi’s social media feed, there’ll be four new cars included in the patch – but the Japanese developer usually sprinkles in some other content, including Scapes and Menus.
The list of cars includes the Toyota GR Corolla Morizo Edition, although this won’t be available to purchase from Brand Central immediately. Instead, it’ll be available in Sport Mode as part of the 2023 Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup, and anyone who participates in the tournament will be gifted the car for free by 27th August.
The other three cars include the Maserati MC20, the Chevrolet Corvette, and the Toyota Hiace, which is of course a delivery van! It’s an interesting mix of vehicles, but Gran Turismo has always been a little eccentric with its selections, so we’re on board with the offering.
To be honest, we wouldn’t rule out further content relating to the movie, but for now all we have to go on is Yamauchi’s tweet. We expect a full announcement to follow in the coming week or so.

A few more new tracks would have been nice.
Would be a great time to announce that PC port.
No Tesla Cybertruck, no buy.
Definitely new tracks are needed and I'm not talking about different layouts. VR has been out for awhile it's time to get the some more race info as an option.
Really disappointed that Lightning McQueen is neither of these cars. In protest I will not buy this game that has been out for over a year and I had no interest in anyways.
The game that keeps eating up your ssd space.
I wouldn’t call a racer with so little singleplayer content superb.
i hope PD supports this game for the next 7 years. gt 8 is not needed until the ps6 launches.
Will just participating in the tournament be enough for the Corolla or will you need to complete it?
I believe that Toyota Hiace is actually a Japanese ambulance.
@Darude84 that cafe forced fake single player made me sell gt7 and re-install gt sports.
Including the idiotic money system they took from gameloft and mobile crap.
@The_ghostmen The money side of it really isn't that bad. Completely optional and there's no real need to spend anything.
The only problem is the lack of actual races for certain tracks.
Some tracks have 3 or 4 races when you can easily do much more expansive track/car combos so can be a bit of a big grind for cash if you want to keep it fresh outside of the weekly time trials which are usually easy enough to get £1m coins.
For me, cars aren’t what’s missing from this game. It’s races/championships/progress (ie single player content, as lots of other people are saying). I’ve hit level 180 and got 378 cars just playing off line, but it doesn’t really feel compelling to go back to grinding just to get more cars (especially when they are 20M each)
Needs more tracks and championships. I've put this game down as I've done everything.
Yes gt7 really needs single player proper qualifying sessions rather than this start where you like ,it doesn't feel like a proper race at all really in single player ,I do think gt7 is very very gd though overall ,I know sophy a.i would help massively in single player if and when it arrives,it will never be perfect that's for sure,I just feel that in this day and age single player should have 15 mins or something like that quali session ,we do have a lot of options otherwise in single player /lobbies ,dailies etc etc but whether we get that ,I very much doubt
I'm more than happy with the additions they've made.....all completely free. That said, a new track is probably due.
I would happily buy some dlc though if they put together a classic track pack
Pretty amazing in PSVR2 btw
new tracks would be nice.
And they cost less than in real life!!!
Need more tracks - happy to even pay for it. Would love Silverstone, and others on F1 calendar not in GT7.
@Darude84 yh, superb sim racer..🤣
Disappointed as usual, no Skylines at all.
Fair update. Not going to play/buy the game over it still but hey for those interested still in updates good on you enjoy the game it's a fair update if the cars interest you, if not well the next update then.
Tracks need to be a focus though cars only go so far if nothing interesting and new to drive them (besides I guess enough scapes to take photos with them/just driving in general if they feel right to drive that is). And more and more licenses of cars/tracks eh it's the reason I got bored is give me original tracks already.
Any reviewers/people not into cars (which this game is targeted at anyway besides esports) not us long time singleplayer fans with ok updates, bad career mode, bad marketing and more and a roulette that makes FM6 blush for worse design makes us racing game fans just laugh at 'superb' as a comment/headline.
The problems are still there regardless of oh it looks pretty, oh the driving model, oh we still have running races no qualifying/standing start races. Why cat and mouse it's so boring in racing games no matter how relevant it may be or distance between than easy wins or realistic it's boring.
More cars/tracks is still nice in PSVR2 just the game is so eh couldn't care less to play with VR if the game still sucks (VR does help only kind of as a nice bonus) I'm still not convinced to play it/buy it.
The issues are still there for me. The offline is worse than Sport. Eh no thanks but good for those still into the game/want to try things out for a bit.
I've just had the time of my gaming life yesterday with this game. I bought a PSVR2 at launch but, being new to VR, I had to grow my VR legs before being able to handle Gran Turismo.
Well, the time has finally come. And man oh man.. This is what I've been dreaming of since my Atari 2600 days.
Fun anecdote: today, I was driving IRL and I kept having flashes of memory from my yesterday's GT7 session, as if I had actually raced. VR is so cool.
@Darude84 the career mode is huge!!
@Xboxbummer The one with the menus? When I played it a year ago I had done all single player content in about two weeks and had to sell the game. There also weren’t any cool things to revisit.
Only reason I don’t play this anymore is because it eats too much SSD space and I’m too cheap to upgrade my system I already spent $500+ on.
Had to uninstall it to make room for Alan Wake Remaster (playing before 2 comes out) lol
@Xboxbummer It really isn't. In fact, it's a stretch to even call it a career. It's a circa 12 hour run of 'races' where you start last and have to finish top 3 to acquire a car. Rinse and repeat. It also ends rather premeturely with GT3 races, there is nothing for LMP2/1/prototype cars like the old games.
Yes there are also license tests, time trials and missions but they're not part of a 'career mode'.
