The long-running Neptunia series will receive another entry in 2024 on PS5 and PS4, this time dealing with a defunct gaming company which your anime waifus will be responsible for resurrecting. The grammatically awkward Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution will release in 2024 on Sony’s systems, and will see you transforming a failed video game organisation into a megacorp by managing four-person parties and riding motorcycles. It doesn’t have to make sense!
“Boost your party stats with the help of creating games in real-time and choose developers to work on your next hit game,” the press release explains. “Add other game elements found in dungeons and monsters to elevate your video game development and for further passive boosts to your party.” So, in other words, the game making aspect contributes directly to your dungeon crawling stats – a neat twist, we suppose!
A photo mode will also allow you to display your personality as you progress. “Heartful Photo Mode will let you express yourself via fun, manga-like creations,” the blurb adds. There’ll be English and Japanese voiceovers, as well as English subtitles. You can check out a trailer embedded above for a better idea of what to expect.

GAME OVER
Insert COIN to continue
There are some fun games in the Neptunia series, but the releases have been going from charmingly rough around the edges to just rough lately. Hopefully this one flips the script.
Also, this seems like as good a place as any to grouse about the word “waifu”. I don’t think it’s particularly offensive, just kind of gross.
I wonder if they will release "Sugar Daddy" dlc which will effectively break the game.
@Amnesiac I didn't mind Virtual Stars and really liked Ninja Wars, however I agree - as to me, the game engine Compile Heart/Idea Factory used is old and dated.
@AndyKazama Yeah, Ninja Wars was fun, but it felt like a good Neptunia Game and a so-so Senran Kagura game. For some reason, my favorite is probably Cyberdimension Neptunia which I played to death. There's no doubt that Compile Heart and If have talent, but they're definitely due to upgrade their assets.
Let’s hope this is just the PG trailer.
I love this series! Looks like another promising release.
