WayForward has announced it's bringing an upgraded version of survival horror classic Clock Tower to PS5, PS4 in early 2024. This is still the original Japanese SNES version — it's not a remaster or a remake — but it will be packing updated animations and cutscenes, a bonus art gallery, and save states. Officially translated and released in the USA and Europe for the first time, check out the announcement trailer above.
There shall be a digital version available on the PS Store, and then a physical edition will follow later courtesy of Limited Run Games. More details will be shared soon, including pre-order windows.
As for the improvements WayForward is making to Clock Tower, the official PR reads: "Harnessing the power of Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, this new edition of Clock Tower retains the authentic gameplay, graphics, and sound of the original version while also adding modern features and enhancements. These include a new vocal theme song performed by Mary McGlynn (Silent Hill series), a new animated opening, motion-comic cutscenes before and after the game, a bonus art gallery, border artwork, save states, multiple language options, and more."

Wish the physical wasn't through LRG.
Bizarre that LRG have had such a good showing, but I guess that shows how much the Carbon Engine is enticing devs. Genuinely more exciting for me than a lot of the bigger devs’ shows.
With this being Wayforward, I’m sort of surprised this isn’t a remaster. I’ve never played the original, but do genuinely like a good vintage, so I’m interested.
@WhensDinner If you buy a physical game through LRG, you buy it because you're most likely a collector. You don't buy from them, expecting a quick release like normal physical games. I've come to terms a long time ago that ordering from LRG is like a random surprise on when it shows up in the mail.
I loved the PS1 game growing up. It was one of the scariest games I played back in the day. Looking forward to this.
Wish it was Clock Tower 3.
@MasterVGuides But most games are patch free and the quality is great Yes its for collectors and I have to be honest I had a game I totally forgot I even ordered it.. 😬
