Later this year, SEGA is set to launch a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog game — one that combines an old-school feel with modern, 2.5D presentation. Sonic Superstars shows a lot of promise, and was pretty good fun in our brief hands-on time back in June, but there's still a lot about the game that's unknown. Enter Game Informer, which is focusing on this side-scrolling co-op platformer for its next major cover story.
The publication says it spent two days at Sonic Team's premises in California, playing through "nearly half the game" in order to produce a huge preview for its next issue. In addition to this will be its usual drip-feed of other information, which usually involves short interviews, gameplay snippets, and other interesting details.
If you're curious about Sonic Superstars in the run up to its launch later this year, it'll be worth keeping an eye on Game Informer over the next few weeks.

Release date mayhaps?
What's the point? Gameinformer get a exclusive access to the whole game to run an exclusive preview issue of their publication next month so its bound to be glowing, full of praise and any criticism will be somehow positive, or they'll never get another exclusive again. We'll see. I find stuff like this hard to trust.
@KaijuKaiser that's a lie? I'm stating an opinion not a fact so calm down mate. And the examples you give are reviews not an exclusive to Gameinformer previews.
@KaijuKaiser if you say so Celebro. I am saying I find exclusive articles hard to trust. That is an opinion. And I can be as cynical as I like, since when did you get to decide how people think. I'd rather be cynical than dictatorial. Is this a comment section or an echo chamber to what you like to think?
@KaijuKaiser October’s a bit stacked for me too. I’ve already preordered and paid for Alan Wake and Assassin’s Creed, got Wonder on the preorder, contemplating Detective Pikachu (I did incidentally have it on preorder, but cancelled all my physical preorders now that I have to repair my car 🤦♂️), etc. No Spider-Man for me, not my cup of tea, but that release schedule is packed to the seams. I just want a full release schedule for 2023 to pop out, so I can pick and choose (I mean, seriously this, Plucky Squire, Pacific Drive, Momodora, Karateka, Gunbrella, Silksong, and Mina the Hollower need to let us know when or if they’re coming this year, and there’s probably more games too)…. But my son loves Sonic, so there’s a high chance this’ll get chosen!
Game informer is still around? That's now surprising.
Surprised to see Game Informer is still relevant. Still have a pile of magazines from 10+ years ago sitting in a box somewhere haha
@Mauzuri I am also a bit skeptical about the level design. Will have to see more of the game, but i am getting vibes of unnecessary mechanics ala Sonic 4 episode 2.
I have serious doubts this will be in the level of Sonic Mania.
@Mauzuri wonder if this will have a demo that will kill is like Balan? Lol
@Mauzuri No one hates sonic more than sonic fans you love to see it
