SEGA has released the beautifully animated opening cinematic from Sonic Superstars, its upcoming side-scroller throwback for PS5 and PS4. This has clearly been created with a heavy dose of nostalgia in mind, as it reminds us of the legendary cartoon-style intro from Sonic CD. We don’t think it’s quite as good as that one – but it’s still great!

We went hands on with the Blue Blur’s latest at Summer Game Fest earlier in the year, and really enjoyed what we played. “With new additions on top of the classic Sonic the Hedgehog mantra, this is the type of gotta go fast gameplay long-time fans have come to appreciate,” we wrote in our preview. “The four characters feel good to control, both on the ground and in the air [and] the platforming is satisfying.”
