With its compelling gameplay loop, incredible soundtrack, and constant support by devs Kluge Interactive, Synth Riders is one of the best games you can play on PSVR or PSVR2. And now, if you boot the title up, there'll be even more music to try out in the game's extensive library of tunes, as there is new DLC available. In celebration of its 5th anniversary — the title launched on PC in 2018 — Synth Riders is adding ten new tracks by way of the Synthwave Essentials 3 pack.
However, the delivery method for the tracks is a little different this time. While traditionally, most of Synth Riders updates have either been paid DLC bundles or free songs added one or two at a time, this latest release combines these ideas. Five of the tracks are free, while the other 5 are available for purchase. The songs are $1.99/£1.69 apiece, or $7.99/£6.49 for the lot. They feature a good mix of returning and new artists, as well as a remix of New Order's Blue Monday by Zardonic, created specifically for the game.
The paid songs that are in this new pack are:
- Jason (With Nikki Flores) - The Midnight
- Sunset - The Midnight
- Blue Monday (Synth Riders Version) (With REEBZ) - Zardonic
- New Cydonia (With Hayley) - Starcadian
- Behemoth (Perturbator Remix) - GoST
And then the free songs you can look forward to are:
- A Matter of Time - Ollie Wride
- Sledge - Dance With The Dead
- Rendezvous (VHS Dreams Remix) - Scandroid
- Interstellar - LeBrock
- We Were Young - PRIZM
No matter which version of the pack you opt for, you'll be walking away with some quality music. And if that wasn't enough, one of the stages in the game, Back to the Synths, has received a makeover alongside the new content.
Is there anything in the new pack that tickles your fancy? Do you plan on ponying up for the paid songs, or will the free tunes suffice? Sound off in the comments!

Great game. Goosebumps included.
Out of the Beat Saber clones that came out this was by far the best. I played the Muse Starlight level when I got my PSVR2 and it was an amazing feeling.
@AdamNovice try the lindsay steerling one which is free with special stage. Unbelievable
@ORO_ERICIUS wasn't it only free for a limited time? I do agree it's very good though
@Voltan hm I dont know. When I bought the game with Psvr2 it was there.
@ORO_ERICIUS Yeah I have her song pack on my wishlist, will have to check it out...thanks mate.
Those songs from The Midnight are among the best of the synthwave genre.
@Voltan @ORO_ERICIUS It was free to coincide with the launch of PSVR2 sadly BUT I also think that's the best one haha. Definitely recommended @AdamNovice !
@Fritz167 there's so much great synthwave in this game honestly. I've loved Staarcadian for years so seeing them on the list the first time I booted up the game was exciting! Lots of The Midnight and Scandroid too. I do wish there were more Gunship though!
Is this game basically the same as beat saber then?
@gbanas92 lets call the name by its name: "Shatter me" from Lindsey Stirling.
@StylesT I think it is a bit easier and the feeling is better because you move more to the characteristics of the song. I think you can better get into the whole thing and feel more. Difficult to describe. Definitely one of the best PSVR2 games
@StylesT Insofar as all rhythm gmases that use a note chart are similar to each other. But Beat Saber is a much more aggressive title that focuses on drum rhythms differently, so there's a lot more DNB/Dubstep kindsa music.
Synth Riders instead emphasizes synthwave, cyberpunk, and electro-swing. The game overall is a bit more "chill" but on higher difficulties, you'll still absolutely break a sweat! Synth Riders more than any of the other PSVR music games I've played so far is better at approximating actual dance moves too! Feels more like you're actually dancing while you play
