Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the expected next entry in the long-running shooter series, and that's exactly what we're getting. After a handful of leaks, Activision has now made it official with the above teaser trailer.
It doesn't tell us a whole lot about the game itself, although it's something of a known quantity anyway. It's a sort-of remake of 2011's game of the same name, following on from the previous two rehashed titles. All we know is the release date — 10th November, 2023 — but presumably we'll be seeing much more of it very soon.

I am so confused about this series as an outsider. I am pretty sure there was a modern warfare 3 already. Are these remakes or something? So weird. It's a mystery how these keep selling.
@Nem Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 3: WWI Edition.
When a plain port of a game from 2010 creates more excitement than the next installment of the most successful (?) series in the world.
Here we go again
Hypothetically even if you payed me there's still a good chance I'd say no, depending on how much was being offered of course. I remember I tried a CoD for the very first time via PS Plus a few years ago and all I can remember thinking when playing was meh what's all this fuzz about. Its all so very average if you ask me
@Beerheadgamer82 when CoD4: Modern Warfare came out there was nothing like it - it was perfect.
I am more of a Black op’s guy. So i think i will wait for next year. I am playing the old Black Op’s games on Xbox with the newly fixed servers and it’s a blast from the past. It is insane how much better gaming was back then compared to today’s COD’s.
How many of these games do we really need? When a new one comes out all I see are complaints about how it's the Worst One Yet(tm) and that there are huge problems and they need to fix it and Warzone bad and yadda yadda.
@Cashews each to their own I guess. It wasn't a terrible experience by any means
@Beerheadgamer82 I'm talking about the launch year of the first really big Infinity Ward game. Nothing played like that before it really and it took the world on by storm. It was one of the most fun experiences I ever had in a video game and everyone was talking about it constantly. So fun.
It's too bad IW didn't stay independent and see where CoD would have taken them. They would have likely bought out Activision at some point if they wanted to.
I'm in. Not even gonna lie or complain. I enjoy COD games and particularly the 'Warfare' series games moreso than the Black Ops ones.
@Cashews always prefered something like Resistance or Space Marine where you can just let loose and fill so many weird creatures full of so many bullets with so many fascinating and different set pieces that makes me wonder as I'm playing. Modern warfare is of course modern and I'm just never fascinated by it at all in a video game. I enjoyed Battlefield 1 (2016) way more than any Modern Warfare because it felt like a super fun fascinating history lesson in a weird sort of way. CoDWW2 (2017) definitely interests me but seems to have reviewed not so well, which has sort of put me off it. Reminds me I need to get back on Boltgun soon, even though its trophies are crap
@Cashews IW was never independent from the start. They was founded as an Activision division from the start. Activision paid for the development of the original CoD.
No real gamers care about the yearly release of a reskinned version of this same cheater ridden game. Unless you enjoy the 6-hour single player propaganda heavy playable B action movie
Which was the one with the "Airport Mission"? These MW titles always make me nostalgic for that ps3 era when they announce them, but I've still not played any of the reworkings, as my gaming habits matured.
Back in the day, I did like the CoD MW titles, they were quite good for a certain age, and they felt new and exciting. The campaigns were cinematic, and gave you that 'gamer tingle' when they released. The online play, although filled with screaming, slightly dumb, sugar binging younger kids, were very entertaining too. And not a loot box in sight, back then, just progression based load outs etc.
Right, nostalgia over. Back to not buying this one 😆
This product makes me laugh these days, they still do the same marketing & promoting along with giving some odd gifts to YouTubers evey year to subliminally create mind share whilst developing a broken cash grab filled with superheroes at like 300gb, my call of duty dopamine addiction is gone, it just doesn't do it for me now 😂
@NinjaNicky The superiority ego complex is ridiculous in this game 😂
@Cashews huh I never knew IW made the original cod or was ever even independent 😮
You've proven to be quite a treasure hove on old gaming history dear Cashews
@Cashews
Game was a revolution for arcade shooters.
Black Ops 2 was the perfection of the formula. Ever since then it’s been on a downhill spiral. Average at best. Terrible at worst.
@Cherip-the-Ripper
Technically IW was never independent.
But they were formed out of the developers who had made Medal of Honor Allied Assault on PC. They left EA and went to Activision and created Call of Duty as a spiritual sequel to Allied Assault.
@OrtadragoonX tbh never played Black Ops 2 - I have heard from so many places it is a great, classic game.
CoD upped the ante on other games as well. Battlefield, specifically Bad Company 2 (DICE) was so damn good...probably because of the CoD competition. They've gotten so much worse too.
Hey! I know people here will gnash their teeth at the prospect, but maybe MS can bring them back to form. Crazier things have happened.
As far as teaser trailers go... this was poor. PS5 hardware has been shifting some decent numbers over recent months, so it's a great opportunity for COD. This trailer stinks of complacency if you ask me. I was up for it, but this has put me off!
I hope it has slightly updated graphics and a handful of different guns!! I’m so pumped to not buy this!!
If there is one reason to not care about MW3 it's the fact that it's being developed by Sledgehammer games.
@Nem These new Modern Warfare games are reimaginings of the originals on PS3/360. They mostly use the same main characters, but the plots are largely different and, ahem modernized.
Wonder if it’ll be on PS4 or just PS5. If it is on PS4, likely the last one.
I'm honestly taking a break from CoD for a very long while until then. This fall it's gonna be all about Starfield, Spider Man 2, and etc in my opinion. Just getting sick and tired of Sledgehammer's bs as a developer. Same goes for IW as well.
@PlayStationGamer3919 BO2 on the PS3 was so ugly with the multi-player I really thought my PS3 was broken no joke.
@PlayStationGamer3919 Agreed MW2 was fantastic.
