Okay, we've finally got a release date for one of the Granblue Fantasy games coming to PlayStation this year. Enhanced and expanded fighting game Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising will be unleashing supers on PS5 and PS4 from the 30th November.
Just to be clear, Rising will be a $49.99 release, making is slightly cheaper than your typical full retail title. However, if you don't fancy splashing the cash on what is essentially a powered-up version of Granblue Fantasy Versus, there will be a free edition available at launch. It'll feature four characters, the first chapter of story mode, and online play (and yes, you can match up with people who own the full release).
Oh, and there's going to be another open beta, which is currently pencilled in for sometime in the autumn. It'll have lobby matches ā so you don't need to play with strangers ā crossplay functionality, and you'll even be able to play the comical Granbruise Legends minigame, which is basically like Fall Guys but with chibi Granblue Fantasy characters.
What do you make of these announcements? Hurry up and pick a new main in the comments section below.

Its weird that this fighting game gets a release date but granblue fantasy relink which been in development for a long time haven'tš¤ yet.come on playa.word up son
Hmm the one I'm really interested in is ReLink.. Given their next event will be September which will only give them a few months left fot this year, I wouldn't be surprised if thats now pushed to 2024.. Seems unlikely they'd release two games in close proximity.
@KaijuKaiser They did say winter, but it was specifically winter 2023. Was in the latest presentation too.
Pretty cool they add a free version. I like that smart promotion.
@ShogunRok Relink is the one Platinum were involved with right? I think im in the same boat as everyone else lol
@Danloaded That's right, yeah.
(I'm the same!)
@swagbag7 It's got new characters, new mechanics, rebalanced gameplay, rollback netcode for much smoother online, and a bunch of quality of life improvements.
It's basically like when Street Fighter used to do Super or Turbo versions of previous games. It's fundamentally the same game as Granblue Versus but it's been expanded and upgraded in numerous ways.
Whether you think that's worth paying for is up to you!
@KaijuKaiser Technically true, but before they added 'winter', Relink had a '2023' release window. Not saying it's impossible, but it'd be weird if they went for a 2024 date after all this.
@KaijuKaiser I suppose our comments prove that!
@ShogunRok I believe it when i see it into the store. š
I'd like to get this but not sure I'm willing to drop $50 for it. I really enjoyed the first version but fell off of it after a couple months playing one friend. I don't think he's going to jump on this with SF6 still pretty fresh.
Does Rising include all of the previous DLC characters on its default roster?
@RudeAnimat0r Yeah, it's all of the Versus characters (including DLC) plus a few new ones. Not sure if there'll be more DLC for Rising specifically, but wouldn't be surprised.
I guess $50 is the full price for both previous seasons of DLC, so it's arguably an okay deal if you never bought in previously.
Trying to justify it for myself. It will depend on if my local FGC get into it or not, probably.
@swagbag7 I believe the story mode has been overhauled. I don't think it has the RPG mechanics of the original, and it's been streamlined into what sounds like a more traditional story mode.
But I think it also has new story stuff based around the new characters.
I thought it was the rpg version haha.
