Shooty Soulslike Remnant 2 is a bonafide hit, both critically and commercially, with developer Gunfire Games declaring the game moved more than a million units in just its first four days on the market.
In a statement (thanks, Gematsu), Gunfire Games CEO David Adams said: “To everyone who helped us achieve this amazing milestone, thank you for your unwavering support. This was a multi-year journey for us, and we couldn’t be happier to see fans having such a great time with a game we put our heart and soul into.”
Gearbox Publishing San Franscisco president Yoon Im added that: "Remnant II exceeded our expectations. As a commercial and critical hit, we’re incredibly proud of the Gunfire team and everyone here at Gearbox Publishing who brought this title to life. As excited as we are, we’re incredibly thankful to the Remnant community who supported us and the Gunfire team during development. To the new Remnant fans who joined our community in the past week, we’re thrilled you joined us on this journey.”
The journey began for players with 2019s Remnant: From the Ashes, where they could form cooperative crews and go out and hunt horrific plant demons. It was great fun, and the "Soulslike" aspects mostly refer to a stamina-based combat system, enemies resetting upon resting/travelling, and challenging, multi-phase boss fights.
The first go around, it took Gunfire two months to shift a million units, but it clearly had a long tail and made an impression on players. Congratulations to everyone involved, and if you want to know more, check out our in-depth review of Remnant 2 in both written and video format.
