Bandai Namco has released a specs sheet for upcoming anime brawler Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, which confirms that it'll run in 4K resolution at 60 frames-per-second on PS5. That's obviously an improvement on previous Ninja Storm titles, which were typically capped at 30fps across the PS3 and PS4 generations.
Meanwhile, if you're playing Connections on PS4, you're looking at 1440p (PS4 Pro) and 1080p (base PS4) at 30fps. What's interesting is that this gap in performance between PS5 and PS4 means that PS5 players can actually block those on PS4 when matchmaking online. It's an optional setting, of course, but if you don't want your own frame rate to be halved for the sake of compatibility, you can avoid PS4 users entirely.
At this point it's worth noting that, as far as we know, Connections does not support cross-platform play between PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. In other words, if you get the game on PS5, you're limited to playing other PlayStation users from the off.
Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is due out on the 17th November, but will you be sliding into this shinobi-based fighter? Remember to stock up on kunai in the comments section below.

The poor people blocker
"if you don't want your own frame rate to be halved for the sake of compatibility"
I must admit it's the first time I've heard of a game reducing the framerate of one player because of another player, but I generally don't play online games.
Is it something that happens a lot? Do you have examples of games that do this?
@Olmaz I would assume this is a situation unique to fighting games, they tend to rely on framerate consistency more than most genres. There may be some stray examples in other games though.
I automatically block everyone by choosing not to play online xD
Great feature to see. Good move.
Man, I played the first couple of these and could not fathom playing them online. Arena fighters never feel quite right for me in anything other than single player where you can spam stupid moves as much as you want.
@Orpheus79V Thanks. I did a bit of research and managed to only find this Reddit thread that explains it a bit.

If anyone has more in depth info, I'd love it.
@Loamy I was thinking exactly like you, but apparently fighting games are different : frames are units of time so both players must be at the same framerate... as far as I've understood...
I have already blocked all people with sub-60fps on all social networks and messaging apps and now I can finally block them during online play.
As soon as this game comes out, ppl on PS5 will complain that there isn't enough ppl to play with. No crossplay is a big yikes.
