A new patch for Final Fantasy 16 will be dropping this week, but try not to get too excited when the notification pops up on your PS5. Indeed, this seems to be a very minor update, with the game's official Japanese website mentioning adjustments to how Arcade Mode evaluates your combat performance β and that's pretty much it. A new leaderboard will be put in place as well.
While the site does promise additional details once the patch is available β it's dropping on Sunday, apparently β we wouldn't expect it to be hiding any other noteworthy improvements.

Shame they can't improve performance.
I think I'm done after back to back playthroughs. Great game.
This game is so good, shame the performance in frame rate mode isn't up to snuff. It would be nice to have it fixed but I can manage.
The combat system is so good, seems like arcade mode could be expanded on beyond a leaderboard. Excellent game regardless though.
Played through twice and absolutely loved it. Second time I enjoyed it even more because I took the time to check out the Active Time Lore a lot more. Such a good game.
I don't think I've experienced one bug or glitch. Graphics mode has been solid.
Very rare for a game these days π―
Plan to complete it this weekend after doing the final round of side quests and the final quest..... with Starfield dropping next Friday won't be able to have these two RPGs, and still going through TOTK.
Idk it got me excited.
@Ravix Yeah other than the performance mode I am really impressed with how I haven't encountered a single one either.
I mean i already platinumed the game, 2 playthroughs were enough!
@Casco Same. I was at 97% and all prepared for the last mission having cleared all side missions in advance... and then about 20 additional side missions were dumped on me.
@Darude84 thatβs exactly what happened to me last Sunday. I thought I was nearing completion then and suddenly those 20 side quests appeared. Guess it gave me another weekend with the game. I have cleared like 5 or so, plan to complete them over the next couple of days
I'm still waiting for local store to fill some supplies. They are bunch of clowns...
I am waiting for the leviathan dlc to replay.
Awnestly that's not a bad change considering how bad Ultimania is with the scoring. Might give rise to more build variety to increase score.
@DennisReynolds I honestly didn't feel any issues. They must minor. I don't expect a major "fix" for it.
Great game with no major bugs but abysmal performance. It's SE so I wouldn't hold my breath for any type of patch addressing the performance mode.
Life-long FF fan here. This was one of the few games that I finished and thought, "Y'know, I think I'll do that again."
Very, very different, but also very, very good - my experience was genuinely seamless.
Bring on the DLC!
Going to wait a few more months before taking on New Game + for the Final Fantasy Mode + Max Eikonic abilities trophies and Plat
Just finished my playthough in time for Starfield and a few other games coming up in September. Was pretty good overall apart from a few frame dips on the quality mode i used.
The game graphics is great but I don't mind a little downgrade to make the game smoother on performance mode, I think elden ring run a bit better on ps5 which is weird considering ff16 is a linear game while elden ring is an open world game.
@wiiware It's just why would there need to be a downgrade at all? Like besides the story bossfights there isn't anything that intensive in the game. If a game like Cyberpunk, Demon Souls Remake, and even Elden Ring can run at 60fps pretty flawlessly then so can Ff16. I'm wondering if it has to do with the engine itself that's preventing them from letting it reach 60fps.
@Nepp67 Yeah, the game graphics is good, but not that good that it can't run 60 fps, the game is linear like ff10, and exclusive too, so it should run at least near perfect 60 fps.
GOTY for me⦠so far
