For some mad reason, the official PlayStation mobile app has started sending out notifications to users about a "new launch date" for Baldur's Gate 3. We got the notification ourselves and scrambled to the PlayStation Store in order to check what was going on — and nothing's changed. At least, not yet!
The RPG, which released on PC a few days ago, is still set to launch for PS5 on the 6th September (while Digital Deluxe Edition early access begins 72 hours earlier, on the 3rd September). With that in mind, we have no idea why the PlayStation app has decided to cause such chaos. We suppose more casual users might not know it's coming out next month, but calling it a "new" date seems a bit unnecessary.
Anyway, that's about it for this incredibly dramatic story. Let us know if you've been panicked by this misleading notification in the comments section below.

Some "push" on for this game eh.
Would this “new” date relate to the early access with the digital deluxe version?
Calm down with the BG3 articles, I've been looking forward to it for ages but the hyping up is a little OTT now, and almost putting me off getting it from day one!
I wouldn't mind generally spoiler free "What I wish I knew from the beginning after 100 hours" type articles and some tips on a starting character nearer release, though.
Edit: Well, I can see that is well underway... lol.

@ShogunRok "(while Digital Deluxe Edition early access begins 72 hours earlier, on the 3rd August)"
I believe you meant September 3rd, not August.
3rd of August early access ,really ?😂 seems the ps app isn't the only one, with problems with dates.
@fido I definitely did. Guess the new release date was right after all!
@ShogunRok well you read it here first at push square😅
I got an email about it too, though still September 6th
Sony also sent an email a little earlier with "new launch date" right in the header, very confusing.
Yeah I got an email too saying new date lol
@ShogunRok have you contacted Sony for clarification about this supposed new release date?
@VanguardKaiser Thought about it but it just seems to be them making sure as many people as possible know what the release date is. Like comments above have said, Sony sent out an email with the same information, so I think the "new" is either a mistake — maybe this marketing was put together a while back and delayed — or a cheeky way of getting people to look (likely the former).
@StrawberryTurtle exactly!
@deathaxe same here. I turned the ps5 on to check my pre-order countdown timer and it's still the same.
Its 2nd of September for the Digital Deluxe Edition so it says on the ps store & on my pre order. 3 days early access !!
I still need to play the Divinity games in my backlog before I think about buying this. Sounds great though.
Who would have thought that Xboxs lack of foresight regarding Series S would lead to Playstation actually having a monster "exclusive" rpg in BG3 to compete for your free time Against Starfield
@kyleforrester87 It seems odd to be surprised that Push Square is extensively covering one of the most successful gamer friendly releases of the year thus far.
I mean it is just weeks before its PS5 release. Seems like the common time to hype something up, especially with it being nearly universally applauded via its pc release and very little at all coming from the first party front or Sony in general for most of the year now.
@KundaliniRising333 I’m not surprised I’m just saying I don’t much care for it 🤷♂️ I’d just prefer it was out of the news cycle a little and I could enjoy it for what it is next month instead of being swept up in the hype, just as I did OS1, 2 and Pillars 2.
@deathaxe I had that spell in Pathfinder wotr. It turned my whole party into bears. Was fun for a bit, but pathfinder was brutal if you were not optimized.
First full priced game I ever bothered getting on steam since I like the flexibility of playing such a massive game anywhere, otherwise I know I could never finish it.
@Nyne11Tyme Does this make you happy?
@deathaxe it’s Bethesda and the hype behind Starfield is unreal. They absolutely do need to over market the game. The previous show did wonders to build up hype, we’ll probably see some more stuff soon.
