Activision looks set to officially announce Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 next week, as it comedically tweets a box art made in Microsoft Paint along with the wording: "We’ll share our artistic abilities and even more next week." Joining in with the fan-made artwork spread online over the past few weeks, we see a stickman with a cowboy hat and a gun.
The upcoming PS5, PS4 title has already been the subject of a few leaks, with Monster Energy drink cans of all things making the key art and logo public ahead of schedule. Activision was then forced to confirm a leak that stated guns from Modern Warfare 2 will carry over into this year's instalment. Since Modern Warfare 3 was originally planned as a large-scale DLC to the 2022 entry, this connection makes a lot of sense.
It has already been confirmed the full Modern Warfare 3 reveal will take place in Warzone 2, as has been the case in previous years. "Drop into Call of Duty: Warzone to experience the worldwide reveal for Call of Duty 2023 in a limited-time event. Stay tuned to Call of Duty channels for more details about the upcoming reveal."
Of course, despite the fact Microsoft will likely close its $69 billion deal to acquire Activision before Modern Warfare 3 releases, the game will still ship on PS5, PS4. In fact, there's now a 10-year "binding agreement" in place to ensure the series stays on PlayStation for the next decade. If the firm sticks to its newer release window for the series, Modern Warfare 3 will be out in October.

Hopefully this MW3’s campaign is as good as the OG version.
Will maintain an open mind like always, but they have a lot of convincing to do with this one.
Hopefully they also release Modern Warfare 3 REMASTERED. Was really weird that they remastered the first two and then stopped with the finale of the trilogy. Don't leave us hanging Activision!
I was very disapointed with MW2's campaign. Some heavy lifting to do here. I do wonder if they are rushing this out to reach the end of Sony's marketing agreement too. 12 months doesn't seem long enough between Modern Warfare titles
LOL. Pretty good sense of humor on who ever came up with that tweet! I know it's fashionable to hate on COD at this point, but I can't deny I enjoy the series / games. Some are better than others for sure, but the only COD I refused to play since 2007 was Black Ops 4. Pure trash that one was, but otherwise? I'm in. I, for one, will be picking this up.
Why can't we get a remaster of the original? I mean I'll try it but the story was terrible for MW2 (IMO). I'd like to finish out the original trilogy on my Ps5 and I can't yet.
@Rob_230 Same here. I was honestly surprised when it ended after you snipe the bad guy, thought for sure there would be more to the story
Not gonna lie, I'm rather excited for this. Lots of hate for CoD, but the gunplay is unmatched and the first few months of a new CoD are the best (before all the dumb gimmicky cosmetics and strats take hold). Ultimately, the quality of the game relies of the quality of the MP maps and Sledgehammer is a bit hit or miss, BUT, given that the original MW3 was Sledgehammer's first big contribution to CoD, I'm very curious to see what they do with this new iteration.
@NinjaNicky 40-50 hours on just...a shooter campaign? That will never happen and 99.89% of people do not want that at all. 10-15 hours would be just fine. FRS campaigns are tutorials for most people.
Haven't been interested in the series since Black Ops II. Zombies mode just hit different back in the day.
Skipped the second one and I will do the same with the 3rd I loved the first one though release the singleplayer package on a disc and i might bite.
I'm interested but not gonna bother buying at launch like MW2... it wasn't worth the money.
I thought it was MW3 remastered
@Jacko11 So, not very?
@SJR I won't either. Haven't picked up the last 2 CoDs, though I'm considering Vanguard now that it's about $30 on the Playstation sale.
@theSpectre another clueless npc with the 🧢
@NinjaNicky yes, you are not the target audience and will not be satiated by Call of Duty ever.
They can keep that reveal
@NinjaNicky I hear you - I'd like a shooter that got my attention as well. I haven't been excited about one in a REALLY long time. Battlefield Bad Company 2 was the last truly great one I played. There have been good ones since I imagine - but I haven't played one that got me like that one.
It had a great campaign. 15 hours though. Which is good
