Once rumoured and since formally announced, Sony Interactive Entertainment's take on the Earbud still doesn't have a release date. FCC filings might shed some more light on the device in question, however, and it looks like active noise cancellation is on the cards, as well as a USB transceiver for lossless audio and compatibility with PS5.
A twisting tale, this one comes to us from MySmartPrice (via NoteBookCheck and PlayStation LifeStyle), and suggests that Sony's PlayStation Earbuds will feature Bluetooth LE audio support, and work with PS5, PC, and Project Q.

The report goes on to state that both the device itself and the USB transceiver have received FCC certification, which means many things. The most important of which (probably) is that the amount of electromagnetic radiation coming out of the device inside your ear has been declared to be within acceptable thresholds, as judged by the US government.
What do you think of PlayStation's Earbuds? Will you be clamouring for a pair, or do you prefer a different method of audio output? Let us know in the comments section below.

I'll take anything that cancels noise

Not for me then. I like my electromagnetic radiation to be mutation inducing.
Is this implying they won't be compatible without use of the transceiver? I'd pick a pair up if they work with my Android phone more easily than my Airpods do.
The U.S. government also deemed lead paint and pipes, tobacco, as well as asbestos, as acceptable for use. So have fun with that.
Just got the Powerbeats Pros.. my wife won’t lemme spend more money on more headphones lol especially ones she can’t use with her phone
I will get these at some point. I think they are a neat offer. I do have the Inzone Sony H9 headsets for PS5 and they are really good. Overpriced as many of Sony’s products tend to be, but i got them on PlayStation direct around the holidays for like $70 dollars off and for that price i think they are a solid deal. I do enjoy them. Full price is a little overpriced for performance but even that is subjective as many might like them at any price. I use them late at night only as i have a media/Game room with a $4000 dollar surround sound setup that is simply incredible for gaming and movies when the wife and little one can take the noise. These will be a great addition when i have to be a little less noisy.
Nope. Steel Series Arctis 7p for my lugholes. Comfy 🥰 all day gaming.
Awesome battery life to boot.
@PSme I'm with you, Steel Series all day
Im still baffled that you cant use Sonys own Top of the range wireless headphones with the PS5, I have the WF-1000XM4 earbuds and it would have been pretty nice to be able to use them while gaming.
@MFTWrecks I think it's just implying you can use them with a console (which doesn't support bluetooth headphones without a dongle)
@PaperAlien
Maybe the USB Dongle will allow for that? Whether it will though and be available separately, who knows.
@Khayl @PSme also steel series, though 7x
@PaperAlien
Buy a bluetooth USB dongle and use it to connect VF-1000KM4 to PS5, eg for PS5 a good bluetooth USB dongle is Avantree DG80

@PaperAlien yep i have those too and was pretty annoyed that i couldnt. I can use them on my vita so there really is no excuse on my ps5.
It was clearly to get people to buy the pulse headset (which granted, i do own), but i would have loved to have the option to use my XM4's
I think Sony should just let us use the WF/WH headphones/earphones
Don't like earbuds, I'll stick with my lovely WH-1000XM5's. Best headphones I've ever owned.
@Drago201 I’m actually at the opposite side - I want transparency mode. Sure, noice cancellation is great in noisy environments but when playing at home I want to hear what’s happening around me.
@Jeaz Yes, this. How noisy are people’s homes? 😅 It’s not like I’m playing my PS5 on an airplane or in 5 o’clock traffic. I need to be able to hear my phone ring or someone yelling at me across the house.
Maybe these will be good for college students in an apartment with roommates who blast their music or people with a kid learning to play the trumpet. 😆
@lacerz Lol exactly... at this point if anyone wholeheartedly trusts the US government they need to research the history of the CIA
Can you actually talk to people using these online? Or is it just for listening to sound?
It'll take a high level of sound quality to pull me away from my OG Arctis 7 headset. Still going strong.
@Snake_V5
I think that it will be possible to talk through earbuds because it will obviously have a built-in microphone
I absolutely love earbuds. I'm all in on these.
@Dark_Knight I wonder if it will be as good as the PS5 Official Headset.
From playstation site "While connected to a gaming device, the earbuds can simultaneously connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth®."
My guess is it will be completely integrated. Able to receive a call while listening to ps5 audio. But the price will be over 200 which will keep me away until its 119.99.
Wonder how much it will be?
@MFTWrecks I'd say as an educated guess that it will need the dongle for use with the PS5 and use Bluetooth for everything else
Hmm. The fact that both major console manufacturers don’t allow you to hook up your own Bluetooth EarPods or headphones is a really bad look. At least (eventually) Nintendo got round to it with the switch. Damn greedy not to follow suit.
How is it lossless while being wireless?
@Ernimus_Prime I think they'll probably be around £120-£150.
@number1024 I also have gen2 pros and love them but they're great within apple ecosystem. They lose a lot of functionality with android phones.
@number1024 Sadly i believe they will not have full functionality with PS5 either. Surely won't heav the ear scan and that fancy surround when You move your head around.
@number1024 Imho Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds would be better for both Android (especially) and PS5 (if they're supported).
For PS5 I use Sony Pulse 3d myself.
@number1024 Still both PS and Apple is a closed environement and devices that aren't designed strictly to fit into it don't usually function well.
