German convention Gamescom is just days away, but there’s still strong speculation about what will be on display at the show. Black Myth: Wukong, a previously announced “next-gen” action RPG from Chinese developer Game Science, is one such title setting tongues wagging; according to Insider Gaming sources, it’ll have a “heavy presence” at the Cologne event.
The snoops claim there’ll be “dozens of machines” allowing attendees to get hands-on time with the title, and there’ll also be a new trailer during Geoff Keighley’s curtain raising salvo, Opening Night Live. Obviously, this title’s been a long time coming – it was first announced all the way back in 2020 – but if this report’s accurate then we could be about to get a more fulfilling look at the game.
Specifically, up until now, no platforms have been attached to the project. We’d like to assume it will launch on the PS5, but hopefully we’ll get concrete confirmation at the aforementioned show, which is set to get underway next week, from 23rd August.

It's about time.
Hopefully, release window is holidays 2024.
What with Sony’s first party being real quiet of late, this is the game I’m excited about. Can’t wait!
PLEASE let this be true, e.g. not a myth...get it?
In all seriousness I have longed for this game since the trailers, if in a playable state at Gamescomm this is big, hopefully a release date 🤞🤞
This looks SO GOOD. Really excited for this one. And for Avatar/Pandora, in December.
I am pleased that the PS5 finally seems to be unleashed - if you know I mean. Developers seem as though they are now really able to use the PS5 to it’s full potential - and it’s only going to get better from here on out.
In fact, I had sort of forgotten about this game. And then I got it mixed up with the other Chinese-style Souls-like, that is already out. Sorry, but I have forgotten what that one is called. Somebody will know what I’m talking about.
@Matthewnh Wo Long. My friends get em mixed up all the time!
Cool black myth wukong looks really good.word up son
Thank you. Wo Long looks a bit too hard for me, a bit too ‘Dark Souls’. Not really my style.
But this is looking great. I must give this a try.
@Blacksmith1985 Didn't they say Summer 2024?
Game looks amazing, but if its a demonsouls clone then I'm not interested. Hopefully it's more God of war!!
@Athrum don't know.
Did they?))
@Axelay71 hopefully not GOW-like.
I beat it, but it was a slog sometimes.
Pacing problems are the same as with GOW 2018.
@Blacksmith1985 Their last trailer said "Summer 2024" not August, but it's still a cool window.
I hope this will release soon. It feels like 50% of announced Chinese games are vaporware, but there have been some really fantastic ones over the years.
I for one am looking forwards to playing this.
@Blacksmith1985 totally disagree, I can't stand demon soulsborne stuff. Personally I prefer the old God of war games not the reboots.
@colonelkilgore you not allowed to say that here
@Toot1st I think you’ll find that Sony gamers complained quite a bit about the most recent showcase. It isn’t us who are simply happy to ‘wait’ 😉
