SEGA and Sonic Team have been doing a pretty great job with Sonic Frontiers. The open zone platformer has been receiving a steady flow of updates and DLC, filling out the game with new things to see and do. The latest effort, called The Final Horizon, is very nearly here, releasing on 28th September, and it'll be free for everyone who owns the game.
In this new trailer, not only is the release date revealed, but we also get a sneak peek at what to expect. It looks as though the blue blur and his buddies will be up against one more mega-boss — so big is the threat that our hedgehog hero goes one stage above Super Sonic. There is such a thing as Hyper Sonic, but we've elected to call it Super Duper Sonic because it's funnier, and we're just here for a good time.
Anyway, the DLC will have new story content as well as the ability to play as more characters — Knuckles, Tails, and Amy will be controllable in The Final Horizon. It seems like a pretty substantial update that ought to be a real fan pleaser.

Free DLC to a single player game released over a year before? Sega must have been happy with sales. Nice to see
I started this last night and I'm shocked how good it is (considering how bad the last few main games have been since Colours)
I really want to play this! The only possible barrier I got will be time as it comes out right near the onslaught of October games. I will definitely get around to this dlc eventually though. Loved Frontiers!
This game was excellent. I hope the team is busy on a sequel but free content is great too!
@themightyant “Free DLC to a single player game released over a year before”
Or, this was all planned to be in the game long before release but rather than wait an entire additional year to release the game when it was finished and not get paid until then they decided to sell the half of the game they completed first and then add in the rest when they got around to finishing the work. I like to think of it as “full price early access”.🤷🏻♂️
At least they aren’t charging more for it like Ubi is for Mario & Rabbids 2. I bought each game for a kid for Christmas and I keep forgetting I never bought the Sparks of Hope dlc so that kid can’t play the half of the game they’re missing but I stupidly keep reminding them about it whenever a new part is released.😩
Feeling Super Sonic
Give me gin and tonic
You can have all the free dlc
But how much do you want it?
I watched my kid play the first couple of hours, weirdly b/c they missed the first tutorial point which seems to unlock all of the other tutorial points, and I think I’ll give it a go when this releases if they announce it’s done.
When is the Sonichu DLC coming?
