Premium tier is a scam at this point
Interesting that they put almost the entirety of the Star Ocean franchise on there.
Couple on there ive wanted to try. Nier, unpacking. Call of the sea, ghost warrior, tails noir.
No ps1 or ps2 offerings tho. Cant say ive really played many but I'm wondering why m paying for premium at this point.
@Grumblevolcano it is to promote SO The Second Story out in November.
This is laughable. Worst lineup since launch. God this company just keeps getting worse and worse.
Them putting all those PS4 Star Ocean games on Premium...like wtf are they doing? I'm clearly not a fan of the series, but are those even remakes of older games or are they now just dropping random PS4 games on Premium?
Dragon's Crown Pro.
If you still have Premium tier give that a go.
One of my favourite games.
Between DC and 13 Sentinels Vanillaware are getting a lot of love this month.
Edit: And Odin Sphere too!
@Itachi2099 If Sony didn't release a single game on Premium then it's a scam.
Nothing that is PS5 exclusive and barely anything less than two years old. Bad and getting worse. We don't expect day one releases, but something resembling a major title would be nice.
Nice collection, nothing for me in there but hope others find some value!
@Danloaded
Akchtually Star Ocean Til the end of time IS a PS2 game. 🤓
@Shepherd_Tallon
Odin Sphere as well, I highly recomend that game to anyone that hasnt played it
Honestly these games aren’t that bad, especially as a JRPG fan. The issue is, however, is that this is the month directly following the price increase. If you want to justify that release, you need bigger and more widely appealing games than NieR Replicant. Again not all that had games, but bad considering the new price.
@bindiana Yeah completely agree.
There isn't a Vanillaware game I wouldn't recommend tbh.
Edit: Oh I didn't see it was on the list too!
Very nice.
Some good games! I’ll be checking them out.
@AdamNovice it's not a proper Push Square article if Adam Novice isn't there defending Sony's honor on literally anything.
Had Cloudpunk, Call of the sea and nier replicant on my wishlist so thats a half decent month for me. Only subbed to extra atm.
@Grumblevolcano It's very usual of the program, to bring lots of titles from a franchise. I wish they brought Nier Automata...
Seems fine to me. Plenty of value here if you like Japanese games.
@Itachi2099 And it's not a proper Push Square comments section without a bunch of negative comments such as this. People can like the service if they like the games.
@Cashews Wouldn't it make more sense to have 1 or 2 games if you want Second Story R to sell well though? I mean, if you're to look at it from the typical subscription mindset you think that given all these are here you can play those and wait for Second Story R to come to PS+ Premium next year.
Not a fan of this month's PlayStation Plus games.
Im glad my Premium expired. Seems a waste at the moment.
Carrying on with the never ending backlog it is then, which does include many Plus games from previous months as well at least. Other than Unpacking the rest are all meh whatever. Better Plus months will come
Don’t think you guys need to bother putting up a poll this week. This one’s bad.
Wow. They really picked the worst month to announce their price hike. What were they thinking?
At least I can finally check out Call of The Sea.
@Grumblevolcano Probably. Square Enix is rock bottom terrible at promotion for at least a decade now. they used to be one of the best.
They raised prices because they want to give great games, and we got this lineup... I don't say they are bad games but for me only 2-3 games in this.
Ok... One PS2 remaster on premium. I'm excited for Nier having heard so much about it, and unpacking too. But you know I'm here for the obligatory PS Premium is a scam. Advertised as classic games and we get PS4 "classics". Cancel Ps Plus
Solid list. Heads up for those wondering what Tails Noir is. It's the game Backbone. That game oddly got a new title a few months back.
Dragon's Crown Pro is probably the only interesting game to land on Premium so far
@TicklefistCP I love your profile pic. I was so afraid of her when I was a kid lol
Anyways, premium is so not worth it. I feel cheated every single month...now we wait for the 3 trash PS1/PSP titles that no one asked for and that's it...every month I dream about real classics
@Jayslow Thanks for that. I was wondering what that was because I had never heard of Tails Noir. Now it makes sense.
Premium Tier just casually forgetting about the PS1, PS2 titles and scamming with PS4 games now then apparently
Nothing on premium for me.this month,but a handful of extra titles I want to play. Sony really need to step the premium game up now.
Out of all of the Star Ocean games on here, what would people recommend to play first as a person that's never played Star Ocean but has always been interested in it?
Nice games, but Remasters shouldn’t be in the premium tier as those are already available games. Total scam in not even trying to bring forward games that are otherwise inaccessible
I've wanted to check out Odin Sphere for years and never got around to it, looking forward to that.
First time I find myself being happy both with extra and premium games!
I didn’t even know there were that many Star Oceans on PS5. They really need to put another heavy hitter to justify the price hike, stick Gran Turismo or God of War Ragnarok on there.
I've never heard of Odin Sphere before, but I like Dragon's Crown and the game looks similar. Same developer, too. Very cool.
Not sure why everyone seems to be complaining, fantastic line up as far as I’m concerned. But then I do love me some JRPGs (wouldn’t get a sub for them though, far too time consuming for that to be economical).
When my subscription renews I am getting rid of premium or maybe the service altogether. What a waste of money premium is. What is the justification of the increase after such a short period of time? do I get anything from it? Moving to Essential.
Happy with Unpacking, will skip the rest
star ocean is great , its worth checking out if you haven't.
Ill possibly give Nier and Odin a go and kids may get into Planet Coaster But between Game Pass additions in Q4 and a host of proven winners I've yet to play on PS Plus, nothing rises to the surface here.
@ChakaL00T Isn’t 2-3 games in what you say is a bad month enough to hold you over?
I’m in the same boat. NieR Replicant & 13 sentinels & maybe Star Ocean Divine Force.
That would probably take me around 1 1/2months. As an early adopter I can barely keep up.
This list summarises why I no longer subscribe to PS Plus.
After 3 crap games earlier this month another 20 crap games. Worst month in the history of PS+
Getting harder to justify paying for premium every single month. At this rate I might just drop all the way down to essential when my current sub expires.
Pretty great month in my opinion, haven't played 13 sentinels or odin sphere yet so quite looking forward to trying those. Obviously this months additions are aimed around the up coming Tokyo games show and to get more people interested in star ocean since there's a new one coming out in November.
Plenty i'm into and def not enough time to play everything!
This month, like every month, seems well worth £10 to me.
13 Sentinels has been on my radar for a while now. Typically though, they put it on PS+ when 1) I’m too busy with other games, like Starfield, 2) the next month or so is stacked with new releases (Phantom liberty, Spiderman 2, Mario Wonder, AC mirage!)
I picked up Dragon Crown Pro and Odin Sphere at CeX recently. Why does this keep happening!
In all seriousness though both are excellent games. Wish the screen was less hectic when you have a full party though.
As if the Essential lineup wasn't unironically impressive enough, September had to become the month of tri-Ace and Vanillaware - plus Cloudpunk, Civilization VI and some Yoko Taro goodness on top.🍻 As usual, I don't see myself touching the stuff that's already on Switch and/or Vita, but with my Deck storage packed full for the visible future, I expect to once again be tempted to have an advance sampling of later Star Ocean entries (franchise binge queue be damned, much of the series seems to be a chronological salad anyway), NieR Replicant (already tried it on my laptop but it's noticeably sluggish there) and Tails Noir which oddly doesn't seem to be on Swi- never mind, it is but titled "Backbone" thereon.
Thanks to Premium (and this year's still fleeting but nonetheless a bit more recurrent home gaming opportunities), I don't even need to measure these appetites up against my PS4 storage which is nice because eagerly installing the month's whole IGC bundle has left me increasingly fed up with it. Dear system UI, you can't tell me I "still need 5 more Gb of free space" while simultaneously boasting almost 60 in the storage menu.
@Skeletor85 "another 20 crap games"
@AdamNovice great profile
Will give Dragons crown a go.
@Deoxyr1bose exactly. Not a bad lineup at all, but not as good as expected being the month after the increase. Was even expecting some Resident Evil and/or Last of Us remakes being present.
I am honestly curious of why would someone still to this day continue paying for the Premium service when Extra is clearly the best option available in comparison. Too much money to spend? Something I am missing?
Anyways, happy finally dipping into 13 Sentinels
We've put up the price and brought down the standard because it's for the money. Not the gamers
I am happy with this collection!
Absolute tripe.
@Ken_Kaniff for me its by far the best lineup they have done, but thats because im a massive Star Ocean fan. Its about time us folk who love the series gets this!
I’ve been interested in Cloudpunk for awhile, so I’m happy
Sure there’s some good games in there. But since most are at least 2 years old, I’ve played the ones I’ve wanted to play (mostly having grabbed them on cheap sales).
@Ken_Kaniff I think it's one of the best months since launch ¯(ツ)/¯
What's leaving?
Better like some Star Ocean... in my case, I'm psyched!!! Personally a great month, especially with the additional vanillaware games. 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim especially should be on everybody's radar who enjoys intelligent sci-fi stories.
Unpacking and Sniper for me but otherwise absolute trash month.
Man if I wouldn‘t be that lazy I would downgrade my premium for extra but I don‘t know how
@nessisonett I’m really hoping for GT sometime soon. It looks great but it’s hard to justify even the sale price when I have Forza games available to me on Game Pass.
Lol right after the price increase they drop this stinker of a month. No self awareness
Still kickin it with The Saints and Gen Zero, both fun in their own ways.
This is why they raised the price!?
Pretty weak month for me only because I’ve platinum’ed Nier, 13 Sentinels & Odin Sphere already. Is Star Ocean worth getting into? I may try one for the heck of it
Just waiting for Spiderman 2 at this point and losing patience!
Wow quite a few games I want to play from this lot!
I will save my opinion for after I play some of these added games. Overall the added cost extra and premium has been a good value for me the past year.
Shocking that a Visual Novel is one of the highlights of this month.
1 out of 10. Not enough Star Ocean.
An interesting selection. I'll give 13 Sentinels, Unpacking and Cloudpunk a shot. Odin Sphere is a neat game too but I couldn't get into it back on PS2. Does the remake have any QOL stuff?
NieR Replicant is appealing too, but I own that already. Just haven't gotten around to it.
I'm still working through Sea of Stars.
Hey, a number of games I'd like to try, but not really buy! Perfect!
Star ocean first departure was delisted from the extra tier back in May, now it's being brought back but on premium?
Extra this month is pretty good, almost all of these games I wanna check out, but oh my god why does Sony keep doing this with Premium. Like I get all of these games are remakes/remasters of games that were originally on Sony systems, but this doesn't feel like a genuine classics catalog, this just feels like Sony wants only third party games and simply won't put out their library of awesome first party titles because putting basic PS4 remasters on there is just lazy
@Itachi2099
Same goes for pure xbox right? There are also plenty of green moral knights who praise Microsoft's every choice.
@Toot1st
No

I know that is a meme at this point. But I think they are just different services and Premium gets a slightly unfair rap.
Extra offers an always evolving list of games, currently 465, which adds/removes about 20+ games per month. But it is relatively expensive at around £100 per year in the UK.
Premium offers a pretty static list of retro games, currently 452 more than Extra, which only adds around a couple per month. It also offers other perks like Cloud Streaming, trials etc. But it only costs an additional £20 per year in the UK.
Is that a scam? Yes it could be better, no doubt, but personally I think it offers good value for money for what you get. I think Sony's mistake is showing both together, it's easy to look at Extra and go it's getting 20 games, some are relatively new/big why is Premium only getting 2 retro games? It looks bad by comparison.
Xbox Game Pass in September: Starfield, Lies of P, Cocoon, Payday 3, Party Animals, Solar Ash and god knows what else
PlayStation Plus extra in September: this
After price hike you would figure out that they will try to offer something better...
@Godot25 Let’s be honest this is the first killer month for gamepass since February. Extra has had some amazing periods and some crap ones just like gamepass, it’s just the way the cookie crumbles. Short of releasing something like GOW ragnorok to the service Sony we’re never going to compete this month so it just feels very disingenuous popping up and comparing them just as MS release their only decent 1st party game in nearly 2 years as if they are knocking out banger after banger.
I do agree they probably should have had a better month after announcing the price hike but there’s still some gems on there. Gamepass is forever lauded for its variety and you don’t get much more varied than a 4x strategy, theme park builder, graphic novel, several JRPGs, FPS and a few adventure games. If it was any other month and this list was announced as upcoming gamepass titles gamepass subscribers would be over the moon.
sony could just show the middle finger to its subscribers, that would be classier than this lineup lol
That is a very strong JRPG month - some games I don't own but am interested in. Prob not going to do much for those that don't have the lucky gaming taste of liking JRPGS or already own most of those games.
@bindiana what kind of game is it may I ask? I've been considering it before now. Should I watch gameplay on Twitch first you reckon?
I am a SO fan so this is best lineup I've seen in a while for me. I get to play some of the franchise's titles I missed before. And I can give Nier a chance, and a couple of other titles on there. I don't do hating really so I won't say anything unkind, but I would encourage Sony to look at older ignored titles, like obviously Koudelka and Shadow Hearts games, Legend of Legaia games, Legend of Kartia, maybe see if they can get licensed to put up the Magna Carta games and White Knight Chronicles Origins from PSP. Just some thoughts
@CWill97 I'd start with Integrity and Faithlessness, its a pretty cool game, just misses on a few very minor things but fun overall, Divinity Force would be game 2 and then the retro ones just for fun coz why not. I like the series on par with the Tales Of series. They're no Final Fantasy but if they're on offer then why not? 🤘
Just tried to download Cloudpunk but it's actually only the PS4 version available, not the PS5 version.
@VidaJ
Its a 2d side scrolling action RPG with multiple characters which there stories intertwine to some extent. Each character has different combat. As with all Vanillaware games the art style is beautiful. Couldn't hurt to check out some youtube videos to see if its up your alley.
not a great month, really don't like visual novels, im nearly always watching a movie or tv show on my pc monitor anytime im on my ps4, happy about civ though
