Originally expected to launch at some point today, the highly anticipated Patch 3 for Baldur's Gate 3 has been pushed back an entire... day. Developer Larian Studios took to social media in order to confirm the delay, clarifying that the update will now release on Friday the 22nd September. The wait just got a tiny bit longer!
"Patch 3 is coming, and it's a big one," Larian teases. "To ensure thorough testing, weβre releasing Patch 3 this Friday, September 22 instead."
We're expecting some rather substantial patch notes for this one, then. We don't yet know the details of the update, but we can see it making some huge adjustments. Previous patches have been massive as well.

Happy Cyberpunk 2.0 update day. I'm pacing the floor waiting for it to go live.
Hopefully they sort out which party member can be used during cutscene dialogue options. That's all I'm waiting for, then i'll pull the trigger. Cant wait to play!
I wonder what the patch has.
The game could also use a speed-up. Some of the turns just pause in combat and it feels more and more frequent.
@Brutal That's insanely annoying and unrealistic. I have to reload saves sometimes because the wrong character gets into a random cutscene I didn't see coming.
I'm a little bit nervous tbh, a massive patch coming mid playthrough, when i've yet to experience any real issues π¬π¬π¬
Uploading to the cloud & storing saves on my second ps5 pre patch and then having an experiment with the new patch, I think. And grumbling about PS5 not allowing a USB save back up π
But still excited if it fixes any future issues as I advance, before I experience them π
I've come up against some very nearly game breaking bugs (and managed to find workarounds after lots of Googling), so I'm hoping this will iron those out. Also the framerate is a bit wobbly in Act 3 so hoping this might smooth that out a bit too.
@Jaz007 The only turn slowdown Iβve seen is when Iβve counterspelled an enemy. They just freeze for a good few seconds, but I roleplay that as the enemy being utterly flabbergasted that their nova spell has just countered and they just stand still in disbelief rethinking their life choices.
@Ravix I've posted on here a few times about the fact that you can back up PS5 saves to USB. You'll find it in the System Backup settings. It comes with some caveats in that it's an all or nothing process. But it can be done and I do it regularly.
@JimbobLink oh yeah, I forgot that. I found that when I was first looking for it, but I think it wanted to back up all data, like you say, but it wasn't something I could back up onto a thumb drive like I used to with PS4 where you could choose what data to backup :/ I think my data files are huge. Bg3 is anywhere between 700mb to 1gb for my saves alone π its a pain that you can't choose to backup one game
@Ravix You can use a thumb drive as long as it has enough capacity to take all your saves from every PS5 game. Agreed that it's not great that you can't select individual game saves, but if you're just experimenting with the one game then it would work as long as you don't play anything else. You can just choose game saves and deselect install data.
@JimbobLink I have 2 years worth of game saves though, so there is no way to just get the BG3 saved data isolated π I'll just download my cloud saves onto my other ps5 and then disconnect that from the Internet so I know I've got a hard copy, if I can be bothered. I believe recently the option to turn off auto uploading of data to the cloud for individual games has vanished too, which I found handy for some games, and that would have worked for me in this situation, so I could just turn off auto uploads to the cloud just incase there is an issue post patch.
Sure it'll all be fine though π
