Update: Well, we suppose that was inevitable. Sony has officially confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition is coming to PS5 on the 6th October. It's also heading to PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) a little later, in early 2024. You can take a look at the announcement trailer above.
It'll be priced at $59.99 USD / €59.99 (and we assume £54.99 in the UK), and bundles in the following:
- Horizon Forbidden West for PS5
- Burning Shores DLC for PS5
- Digital soundtrack
- Digital art book
- Horizon Zero Dawn Vol. 1: The Sunhawk digital comic book*
- In-game items:
- Extras in Photo Mode (special pose and face paint)
- In-game items unlocked via story progression:
- Carja Behemoth Elite outfit ·Carja Behemoth Short Bow
- Nora Thunder Elite outfit
- Nora Thunder Sling
- Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike piece
- Resources pack
Original Story: Sony's worst-kept secret, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, appears to be releasing very soon indeed. The game, which bundles together the main sequel with its excellent DLC Burning Shores, is apparently heading to PS5 and PC on 6th October.
That's according to a Japanese retail site, spotted by the ever-watchful Gematsu:
If you visit the link in the above post, the listing is no longer there. Gematsu also notes the listing for the Complete Edition mentioned additional bonuses, like a digital art book, comic, and soundtrack.
It all sounds perfectly plausible to us. However, if the game really is launching on 6th October — that's next week, at the time of writing — Sony isn't giving itself much time to announce it. Presumably, an official reveal is close at hand, if that release date is legitimate.
We'll of course keep you updated as and when we hear more. Would you be interested in Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition? Let us know in the comments section below.

Sony got so bad with communication they even forgot to announce this PC Port
Curious if this will affect the inclusion of the base game on PS+ Extra. Best case scenario they include this new complete edition on the service, like they did for Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, etc. Worst case scenario they pull HFW off the service in hopes of selling more copies of the CE. With the recent PS+ price hike, I hope for their sake it’s the former.
Assuming there will be a physical release, good to have a version with most of the bug fixes.
I thought the price for Burning Shores was spot on, so I bought it. I haven't played it yet because I've been on a Final Fantasy bender lately, but I suppose it will be my next game after Spider-Man 2.
I'm hoping the Burning Shores DLC is included on the disc itself (like how The Frozen Wilds DLC was included in HZD's Complete Edition on disc).
If it's a download voucher/code then I'll pass on this.
@gaston official Announcement reads like a digital only release
No physical Release? Sony always uses the worst ideas from MS
I don't think the PC port is coming out until 2024(no date yet).
Yes ,release it on PC just to annoy console players just to sell few additional copies
Yeah, the video mentions that the PC release isn't until Early 2024.
If you aren’t going to announce a thing until a week before it releases then you deserve to be embarrassed by a retailer announcing it first.
I really, really liked this game. Definitely one of my favourite PlayStation exclusives. If this has a new trophy list I might get it and platinum it again. If not then there's not really any point buying it.
I was debating this game recently as it was still on my list of games to get soon, so I am glad I held off. I'll be adding the Complete Edition my Christmas list this year.
Honestly, I am surprised that Sony is letting this one go for $60, I thought for sure it would do $70 due to the inclusion of the DLC.
PC release window lines up with 2 years after the PS5 release. So we can probably guess from this that 2024 PC ports (excluding day 1 live service releases) are going to be:
Alongside at least 1 of the following games that are more than 2 years old:
So I'll be able to play ALL of Horizon portable on Deck after all? Especially since the first game was available for purchase like everything else Sony (with the odd sole exception of first Spider-Man), leaving me with few reasons to expect otherwise in FW's case as well - possibly a rare ironic upside of Sony still thinking that "Belarus" is something edible.
I'm still gradually retracing what progress I made in HZD on PS4 early this year, but this is still promising news.
@Grumblevolcano Gravity Rush 2 when? The game's five years old, too, and a bit surreal to see stuck on home hardware after the series' portable origins. As long as Sony's only Gen 9 portable is a streaming tablet, I'd be in the Steam marker for other stuff like Uncharted trilogy, LBP3 and Concrete Genie, too.
@Powerplay94 this aint selling a Million on PC and especially not fullprice
@nhSnork they only port recent or successful Games to PC. GR2 flopped hard and they closed thd Studio lol
@gaston I too will only be getting it if there’s a physical release
Cool, as someone who pretty much exclusively plays on PC these days it's great to see these games coming over
PC release is Early 2024 (as per trailer), not October like it is on PS5.
I had to get the HFW bundle to get a ps5 last year, didn't like Aloy in the first game. I appreciate you constantly using that stupid picture of her, reminds me why I never installed the sequel.
Nice. I sold my copy after the expansion.
I'll get it at some point on PC for my collection to keep. I already have ZD on steam. Finished all of it so not in a rush (great game!!!)
Hopefully runs as well on Steam Deck as Zero Dawn did.
@nhSnork From Sony's actions so far, I get the impression their strategy for Playstation Studios PC ports is:
Given the decision to port over Legacy of Thieves Collection before Nathan Drake Collection, I get the feeling if the PS3 trilogy comes to PC it'll be individual remakes rather than porting over the collection.
@Grumblevolcano I'm not convinced they'll port GT, at least not for a while, since it's still getting content updates so they'd have to keep the port in active dev. I think every PC port so far has been a finished product?
@Th3solution Probably the base game will remains there, without the DLC. It's the usual case.
Really Sony…. These guys are doing a heck of a job convincing me to not buy a PS6.
All these guys can do is announce PC ports, remasters or complete editions. Instead of giving us new announcements of new games…. This generation really sucks
Example today is the TLOU day or outbreak day. Yet nothing about Factions or any new games. It’s all about the merchandise or giving late adopters /PC gamers far better value propositions.
@Lyedecker
So why are you in here if you dont like it?
I still need to get the Burning Shores DLC but I may pick this up on PC in the future for ultrawide support.
Oh and to replay the game on my Steam Deck.
@rjejr they think they're apple
Hzd was my game of the generation. I don't know what it is about hfw that isn't having the same effect, but in the 12 or so (if that) hours I've played and collected 19 million trees and flowers, it just hasn't dragged me in. Maybe it's the space clones. Or the fact I've not blasted through it as haven't had time to dedicate to it. I'm currently having a syphon filter marathon (when I get chance) so hopefully that'll be a pallete cleanser and I can go back and enjoy it.
@Powerplay94 I'm expecting this as well. Although I was very surprised they didn't do this with Gran Turismo. Even still, I'm very glad for the PC port of Forbidden West. One of my 2 favorite 2022 games. The way things are going, I would guess 2024 is going to be a big push for PC with Sony. H:FW will probly be February-ish to his that 2 year mark. GoW:Rag late in the year. TLOU:2 when season 2 of the show is going. And hopefully Ghost when the timing is right. Hard-core PS owners may not like it, but PC players sure do.
For those of us keeping score:
Games released by Sony for PS5 in 2023:
Games released/announced by Sony for PC in 2023:
And of course Helldivers 2, Fairgame$ and Concord will launch on both platforms simultaneously.
I am wondering if the base game and DLC will be available for purchase separately once the Complete Edition releases, or if they remove it from the store and the only way to play Forbidden West will be the Complete Edition.
@truerbluer useful list but HFW won’t release in 2023 on PC. Probably within the end of March 2024.
why would sony release a game that runs on ps4, only to make the dlc exclusive to ps5? there is no logic in that...
That timeframe of porting 'exclusives' to PC is getting shorter and shorter all the time. Almost makes one question if it's worth owning a PlayStation anymore when you get better value in the form of a 'complete edition' with better performance and usually a lower price than it's console counterpart not too far away.
As a day one PS4 and PS5 owner I feel like a second class citizen sometimes.
I bought the first game on PS4 when it came out, but didn't get into it to finish it. I might be interested in getting it if the first and second game were bundled together on pc.
It won’t sell well imo. They novelty of ps games on pc is whatever now compared to 2020 and the game is seen as bland.
Nice! Now just do Astro & demon souls and I can sell my PS5.. so close.
Is this a digital only release? I can't find any word if there will be a physical edition or not.
@theMEGAniggle Sony wishes they were Apple. 😉
Will get if physical has everything on disc. I have the base game as I bought the bundle ps5. Need to play the dlc. Especially since I love Seyka already.
@Darth_Stofi Bro you had two years to enjoy it before anyone else. Time to move on. If you're upset that others can play the same games as you did two years ago then you need to consult a psychiatrist. I own a PS5 btw.
@KillerBoy yes, a physical release would be very cool. A digital complete addition just saves one additional click (unless the extra material is unique to the complete addition, that might interest some people) ...
@MagisterMagi that would be a bit disappointing. But it still saves a click
@RestMode12 I think they're too big, when playing HZD I just felt like I was playing a ubisoft game where, yes there's a story and side stuff but it's all too big and overwhelming
@MagisterMagi Even worse their collectors editions come with just codes. But hey you get a useless steelbook with it.
@nookie_egg I'm the same. For me it's because you're doing more of the same but this time the story isn't remotely as engaging or interesting, far from it, it's forced and rather lacking.
@RestMode12 agreed, I want more of a focus on the RPG part. More roleplaying is what makes good RPGs great. What's your PSN ID?
@RestMode12 😂😂😂 wish there was a private forum
Dumb question - if I have a regular launch edition, can I upgrade digitally to the complete edition? How much does that cost?
