The Yakuza and Like a Dragon experiences are famed for including built-in side games that could probably exist on the PS Store all by themselves, and the upcoming Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name looks to be no different. Today SEGA has detailed what you can get up to off the main path, and it includes competing in the Coliseum, talking to some lovely ladies at the Cabaret Club, playing Pocket Circuit, and taking part in karaoke.
In addition, there'll be rounds of darts to play, shopping outlets to customise Kazuma Kiryu's look and style, and classic games like Fighting Vipers 2 and Daytona USA 2.
In the Coliseum, you'll compete in various event types to see who can beat their way to the top, either competing alone or with teammates. You'll be able to train allies and strategically position them in the arena for the best results. "Your more resilient allies should be placed on the front line, while your support members and allies with ranged weapons should be placed in the rear." Head to the Fighters' Lounge to recruit new members or form a stronger bond with your current allies.
To wind down after a tough fight, you can head to the Cabaret Club when the sun goes down to meet with five new live-action models. You'll need to build up a relationship with them in order for things to develop in private.
Pocket Circuit then lets you race little toy cars across modes like Time Attack and Rival, while the selection of songs at karaoke bars now includes Sayonara Silent Night. This is a Christmas song that's about embodying "the feelings of a middle-aged man unable to tell the love of his life his true feelings. We wrote the song to capture the conflict in Kiryu as he wrestles with his decision to lead a life of solitude."
The Boutique is where you'll design Kiryu's get-up, making him look stylishly on brand or a bit of a fool. You can choose his general outfit, what accessories he wears, and add a few more bonus items like sunglasses. Finally, Count Up Cricket can be played on the darts boards and there are now special darts with different shapes on them.
Which of these side games are you going to end up putting more time into than the actual narrative? Let us know in the comments below.

That cabaret club looks genuinely unplayable. Like proper horror, the weird way they look into the camera and stuff. It was the same in 6 with the cam girl things. The scariest thing RGG have made.
I enjoyed the random as photo shoot mode in 2, so it looks like Gaiden is gone be 💯
Very, very nice. Looking like a return to form after Ishin, which was not the best by the standards of the franchise.
Actually crazy how much RGG fleshed out the coliseum in this game. Definitely looking forward to that.
The live action idol stuff is weird. Why didn't they stick with CG characters?
@nessisonett It reminds me of some of the Saturn era live action gravure idol games, which were pretty snazzy for their time. I’m sure it’s not for everyone, but it looks like it features Japan’s most infamous pool, so I’m all in!
@jorel262
They’ve had live action stuff a couple of time in the series. Sometimes with balloons, lol. Don’t see what’s wrong with weird, although I do usually save those bits for when the wife’s in bed.
@thefourfoldroot1 LOL I do the same. I do those parts when she's at work or sleeping. Always feels weird to play those mini games with the wife in the same room. Even when she's not looking at the screen
All the minigames look great apart from the live action. Why did you do this XD there was nothing wrong with the ingame way
The live action looks so awkward. It just makes it uncomfortable and they really should have kept to normal video game graphics.
Already was interested in finally picking up this game after falling in love with the Judgement games, and just like Judgement, I'm 100% gonna get just because they put a never ported Sega Arcade racer lol. Literally only got super interested in Judgement initially because of Motor Raid and Daytona 2 here is literally just making me wanna pick this up 100% now
@Jaz007 Totally agree, would love to play Daytona 2 but that live action hostess stuff is creepy af.
@thefourfoldroot1 Seems weird to me mixed in with CG. But the franchise is built on weird I know.
I want to play the series but still haven't. Which games had live action before?
They look as fun and wacky as they usually do. The Coliseum in particular looks really fleshed out and fun. I actually don't mind the live action stuff as much after playing the entire series. It was pretty uncomfortable at first but I don't know, guess I just got used to it. It's just funny to me at this point. 😄
Yay real ladies,god bless you sega 😁😂
Goodness, those real life hostesses look just as hollow as when they have uncanny valley CG figures. Rather depressing. Like a dragon doesn't need this, just give me more of that absurd yet righteous badassery with lots of heart!
I miss the 360 modding scene, that daytona 2 and vipers 2 would ripped right outta that iso and onto my hdd 😜
I am really trying not to get too hyped up and wish my entire autumn away. Winter will be here soon enough. But I am lowkey hoping this game will fix my depression because it's gonna make my ADHD worse...
Kind of crazy how long it's taken Sega to bring home Daytona USA 2, I'm really looking forward to this game anyway but woth Daytona 2 and Fighting Vipers included, its a must play and I'm a sucker for Pocket Circuit
This is shaping up to be the best entry yet
@Lavalera @thefourfoldroot1
I usually wait for no wife to be around as well, but she has been thirsting over Henry Cavill and Pedro Pascal so much this year that maybe I will flaunt this part of the game. I mean, maybe she can even help with the flirting so I don't need to consult any guides.
Even without the Daytona license, it is still Daytona USA at the end of the day. I hope it will also have online play.
Daytona 2 just made this a must buy for me.
Gotta admit, I didn’t think they’d bring back Pocket Circuit, thought that was long forgotten at this stage, (but I’m glad old man Kiryu gets to enjoy his life-long passion of beating kids at a toy racing game )
Sounds like the coliseum is taking its gameplay from the Majima Construction mini-game from Kiwami 2, which could be interesting (though I feel like I’ll probably end up preferring the 0/Kiwami model).
Overall, it looks like this won’t be too small a game compared to the usual, which is nice. Currently still going through LaD, so not sure when I’ll be able to pick this up, but judging from what I’ve seen and heard, it might make for a good Holiday/New Years game, so that would give me a good amount of time to finish everything beforehand.
Also, thanks for removing any faint chance I’ll ever try the cabaret mini-game Sega, hopefully it won’t be in the main story either.
Nice pool, I recognize that from somewhere
