Ubisoft has outed the existence of The Division 3 — the next game in its looter shooter series. The title is currently in early development, and that's pretty much all we've got to go on. Just to give you an idea of what 'early' means, the team at Massive Entertainment — the lead developer on both of the previous Division games — is now recruiting for the project. So yeah, it's early.
The current creative director on Star Wars Outlaws, Julian Gerighty, is taking on the role of The Division series' producer, but he's obviously got his hands full right now with the aforementioned adaptation. In any case, it's clear that Ubisoft wants the franchise to get back on track. The Division 2 is over four years old at this point, and we honestly assumed that we would have seen a sequel by now.
"It’s a privilege and an honor to be able to continue to build incredible and unforgettable experiences in this amazing world with the most talented teams around the world, and I can’t wait for what’s next," says Gerighty.

That's cool and all but where's Rayman Origins 3?
Or Rabbids Land 2 I would take thatYes please. I love the series.
Nice, I like the 2nd one, I bought it cheap with new york expansion. I may buy the 3rd game full price if it didn't have always online requirements for the single player story.
I like the division.so more the division is welcome.word up son
I would, but with a stronger story. And what happened to Heartlands? Isn't that supposed to be coming out this year?
I'm kinda surprised with the free to play one coming. That said I'm pretty happy with the news.
I enjoyed the first one but frankly barely touched 2. I thought it came out too quickly and wasn't really different enough to me.
Wow! I was not expecting this to ever show up after that awful Heartland.
Division 2 is one of my favourite games of all time so I am booked on the first hype-train out of the station.
Wait, why do we know it's The Division 3 and not another expansion to 2? I mean I think it's 3, but Devil's Advocate...
@pyrrhic_victory Heartlands got moved to 2024.
Probably up for it as long as I still get to have a drone ; )
Game companies really shouldn’t announce stuff so early.
is there another major publisher out there as preditable and boring as ubisoft?
Spongy spongy BULLET spongy
I liked the division games especially when d2 got the ps5 enhancements so a new game is most welcome. If its designed specifically to take full advantage of what the ps5 can do then it'll look awesome but if its a cross gen game and has to fall in line with the whole generational parity crapola then i'll have to think long and hard about it.
@Porco pretty much all of them at the moment.
Where is the confirmation that this is in early development? Hires and fires occur throughout the development process. Job listings are no indicator that work has only just commenced.
I'm glad an official sequel is happening but what the hell is going on with The Division: Heartland?
There has been little to no updates on it and isn't it due out end of this year early next year?
Div2 was a favourite of mine, so I'm on board for more.
About goddamn time! Id be down for some cross play… and eliminating hackers in the dark zones
Absolutely loved the division 2. My most played game. The first game I ever did group raids and eventually lead raids with on a daily basis.
