The Pixel Ripped games are fan-favourite virtual reality experiences, and one of them is about to get even better. Pixel Ripped 1995 is heading to PSVR2 on 12th September, 2023, more than three years after the original made its way to PSVR.
This fancy new version of the game is enhanced in numerous ways; it features better graphics and performance, as well as support for PSVR2's headset rumble and PSVR2 Sense Controller's haptics and adaptive triggers. It'll be available for $19.99 / €19.99, but if you already own Pixel Ripped 1995 on PSVR, you'll be able to upgrade for free. Always nice, isn't it?
Another game in the series, Pixel Ripped 1978, was the first to arrive on PSVR2, crossing streams with Atari for some officially licensed mayhem.

Cool! I wanted to try this out on PSVR but never got round to it. So can try it enhanced now for PSVR2.
The trailer says "Out Now! On PlayStation VR2" at the end... Did the devs themselves get too eager and mix up the release date? xD
Seeing as yourselves say 12th Sept.
This reminds me that the only way for VR to survive in any meaningful way is for Nintendo to throw their hat in the ring.
Just started 1978 because it's on sale but this is the one I really want to play. I'll get this day one
Been waiting for this one! DAY 1 FOR SURE!
Really enjoyed 78 so will certainly be getting this.
@Cashews weird thing to say given there is nothing in the trailer that says "today's Nintendo"
But if you are implying VR is just "not good enough" companies keep making vr headsets and developers keep making games. That only happens when there is "meaningful" money for both parties.
@GymratAmarillo nothing has resonated with the public yet. It is an extremely niche product made for fail videos on youtube. I'd bet your eternal soul Meta and Sony have lost many many millions (and billions in facebook's case on VR).
Just me - I think Nintendo the only one at this point who could pull off the killer app that gets soccer moms buying it for their kids. Like they did with SMB, the the first thumbstick and a bit later with Mario 64. They make the thing that everyone follows. Then once it's in people's hands other creatives pay attention.
Unless someone comes out of nowhere like iD software but i don't really see that type of guerilla developing since Notch left the scene.
Free upgrades always nice.
But I had my fill of the original PSVR version ao I wont take advantage unless they sneak in some surprises in (new stuff)
@Cashews "I'd bet your eternal soul Meta and Sony have lost many many millions[...]".
In business, this is called an investment. VR has been growing steadily over the last 10 years and will eventually get to the mainstream. Admittedly, we're still a couple of steps short techwise, but we're getting there. And the companies with a head start will naturally benefit.
Meanwhile, PSVR2 has reinvigorated my passion for games. The downside is that it has opened my eyes to how creatively stagnated flat-screen gaming has been over the last several years.
