Roblox, the immensely popular online platform, is heading to more systems — and that includes Sony's consoles. Yes, the game is finally heading to both PS5 and PS4, and it's on the way very soon; it arrives next month, sometime in October 2023.
The news was announced during a Roblox Developers Conference, at last confirming that the title is heading to PlayStation platforms. Roblox is a huge free-to-play online community that allows players to play games together, socialise, and create their very own experiences to share with others. It's famously popular with children, attracting "more than 65 million" players every day. It's a pretty big deal, in other words.
PlayStation users will be able to "access the full catalog of Roblox experiences". While you have to use a PC to create games and experiences for Roblox, all of them will be available to play on PS5 and PS4. We imagine it'll be the same as how it operates on Xbox One.
Will you be hopping into Roblox on PS5 and PS4 in October? Is the game popular in your household? Head to the comments section below.

I get why people play it but the amount of money people spend on this is insane. Not for me but this was inevitable
"While you have to use a PC to create games and experiences for Roblox,"
How very Nintendo of them. 😂
Despite everyone in my family gaming none of us ever got into this. Don't think it will start now. Unless @Quintumply talks me into it, seems like their kind of thing. Currently trying to play Bugsnax but I hate the first person view. 😝
Will this be free to play? In my head it's FTP like Fortnite w/ ridiculous amounts of money spent on skins and things but it could be $26 like Minecraft. Read the article twice and I couldn't find it. 🤷♂️
@rjejr It’s free to play. No idea what it is honestly. I’ve downloaded it before but never started it.

@4kgk2 my daughter plays Roblox on my xbox series x otherwise it would just be collecting dust
Sony couldn't resist those Robux dollars any more.
Child labour now finally also on PlayStation
My son plays it too much tbh.
All his friends from school, their siblings, Thier friends.
Watched him playing it on his tablet the other day, performance was near unplayable. Probably 5 -10 FPS?
He'll be buzzing for the PS4 version.
This is a big deal in our house
@Quintumply Just in time for Roblox dating😂.

I was walking my dog once and a little girl walking past said she had my dog in Roblox. That's all I know about it.
@Ashpip same my daughter and her friends are playing this all the time. She's going to be happy.
Nope. Roblox is well and truly on the banned game list in my house. The kids can play it when they've moved out!
I stand true to my word though. Come to me with a proper game they want to play and I'll buy it there and then. Complete it and I'll buy you another. Ready when you are.
Roblox though? That does not qualify. And neither does Fortnite for the record.
One of the reasons they pulled the plug on dreams.
Grooming now available on PS5.
finally?
This "game" is pure trash designed to milk children for money.
My eleven year old nephew plays this constantly, i occasionally tell him at his age I was playing family friendly edutainment games like mortal kombat 3, he gives me a blank stare and goes back to playing Roblox.
It's just like what DJ Khalid said, "In life, there's Roblox."
@somnambulance it's basically Lego MMO Minecraft without it's licensing permissions. I know of a lot of kids that play it. I asked one just last weekend what he does in it and he told me him and friends meet after school and just make up roller coaster designs. Honestly I thought that sounded like a pretty cool thing.
Roblox is great. I not play myself but i watch my twin boys play. Piggy an paint balling an hobbies an lots other really cool game!! They not spend lots!! I get them £10 Robux now an then. They just buy silly clothes an hats an pets!!
I doubt any ps player is interested in this game. I could be wrong.
@CutchuSlow Roblox is like the most popular game ever rn. I bet kids that love Roblox are gonna eat this
I think I'm the only person in this whole website who actually kinda likes Roblox lmao
Not interested in the PlayStation version, but VR support in Roblox will definitely be exciting.
With that being said, Roblox has horrible moderation. They allow some really inappropriate things to pass by on a game primarily targeted at children, and ban people for minor or stupid things.
And Roblox is apparently adding 17+ dating to the game, which I believe is gonna go horribly, considering the fact that younger Roblox players have been able to bypass older age requirements in the past.
Don't get me wrong, Roblox is a great platform for creative games, but I completely understand why people look down on it, considering the fact that the company does a poor job at actually moderating content.
Don't get me started on the garbage games on the platform, especially the gambling ones that have been around for years.
Never mind, Roblox is the best game ever.
Jokes aside, kinda impressive how creative people on the website can be.
(Context: select players are able to make items and clothing in Roblox, including more recently heads and whole characters)
Daughter is obsessed with it on her iPad., she’s 6. She’s been playing for a year and once in that time I got her a $25 gift card, she bought lotsa cool outfits (cosmetics are very cheap). That’s it. You can play almost everything for free. We spend a lot of time in Brookhaven (recommended) creating our own adventures. Playing on the PS5, big screen and surround sound, is probably gonna blow her mind…
@Fighting_Game_Loser I don't know why, but I assumed majority of ps players were adults.
Also I think it would be better on switch instead of a ps. Coz it's handheld.
@somnambulance Thanks. I knew it was free on PC but didn't know if there would be a "console tax" though maybe that's just a Switch thing? 🤷 Seems like lately I keep reading about all of these "free to play" games like Disney Valley and Disney Speed storm that are actually only "free to play" if you pay to play them. 🤑 Yeah yeah I know they call it early access or some such but I don't get how any company can advertise a game as free to play if you can't?
I suppose Roblox is big enough they probably can make it free to play b/c they know they'll get paid. Maybe we'll get some free Roblox bux w/ PS+ so Sony can justify the price increase.🤣
I’ve heard of it but never played or even seen it. I wonder what the trophy list will be like
Cheese escape in 4k! My kids will be pleased
I used to hate Roblox as it seemed like cocaine for children.
When my kids first started playing it they’d be playing such garbage games. But now there actually are somewhat decent games on there if you look for them.
For anyone that doesn’t know, Roblox isn’t a game itself, it’s a platform for other people to create games. So there are hundreds-of-thousands of games created in the platform that people play. And some of those games have more players than most mainstream games that get released (it’s that popular).
Sega made a Sonic game on it, for example. Also there are realistic FPS games, creative building games, some team survival games and much more. It’s not all garbage, but it mostly is unfortunately. And if you don’t monitor your kids they’ll be playing garbage games that are addictive.
Despite all this, they are only allowed to play it twice week. It still is cocaine for children.
My nephews will never give me any peace about this. XD
@Americansamurai1 Yeah,thought so
wasn't Dreams an actual attempt by Sony to have their own Roblox?
@CutchuSlow Trust me dude, I'm currently 17 and I know quite a few kids who are younger and only play on Playstation. Of course I'm not Roblox fan in any way (think it's a manipulative cesspit and I have many other games to play) but I know for a fact that lots kids are probably gonna eat this up ten fold
When I worked in retail, I had a customer — who I assumed is the father/grandfather/uncle of a young child that was occasionally with him — that would buy a $50 Roblox card every time he was in the store. I’m pretty sure it was at least once a week, if not more.
If you can avoid it, keep your kids as far away from this game as possible. That man did not look wealthy at all, and I can’t imagine the debt he must have feeding that kid’s Roblox addiction.
@Blacksmith1985 pretty much
@4kgk2 My little girl plays it on her iPad with her friend. She never asked me to even see if it was on my Xbox or PS5. When she does good in school or around the house i buy her some gift cards for it and i think she just buys clothes and stuff.
My daughter plays Roblox on her Mac. I’m excited about it being on PS4 because I can convince her to play on her PS4 and maybe she will play some other games as well while she’s on there. On Mac isn’t really an option for her.
So yeah, this is a big deal for me as well.
Cheers.
