THQ Nordic has announced it's developing a native PS5 version of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, set to release next month on 16th October 2023. There will be a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade available for current owners, and the new version will sport DualSense controller capabilities as well as new features that are also being patched into the PS4 version. Check out the announcement trailer above.
Built into the PS5 edition and coming to PS4 as a free update, a new Photo Mode will let you apply 19 different filters to your screenshots while two new costumes allow you to kit the characters out in new gear. The patch will also include some bug fixes, addressing issues with save states and the overall stability of the game.
Originally released for PS4 in January 2023, we awarded the original game a 6/10 in our review and concluded: "The premise is good, the level design is imaginative, and there's a clear love for the IP with its countless references and costumes. However, some of the gameplay feels very dated, while a number of presentational shortcomings and a laundry list of bugs hold it back."

Wonder how long until it comes to plus? Played and platinum battle bikini bottom and think I might do the same for this if it comes to plus.
@PlayStationGamer3919 Yep, it's available physically too: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHS6SBXQ/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1
All these games getting native ports and updates and Fallout 4 that's been announced a year ago still nowhere to be found...
I'll maybe play it again on ps5. Found it fun if bit repetitive stress on PS4
I'm far too old enough to know better but I love that sponge.
Twas alright, not great and not really as good as Rehydrated, but I respected the attempt. Short enough to be a good break between bigger games too so I might get the platinum again.
I played the PS4 version and enjoyed it for what it was despite it occasionally feeling like a precursor to Rehydrated. But hey, it passed some time though I’m not over eager to replay it in a hurry I’ll pick it up if it’s free and then wait until I feel the need to revisit it though I can’t see it usurping MK1 in a hurry …
@Bamila ""Dunno if you've heard but we're shipping a new game in three weeks," he said. "Bit of a priority. When we have an update, we will share it."
