The Crew has always been a successful series for Ubisoft, but its latest entry is breaking records. With its arrival last week, The Crew Motorfest has sped past Ivory Tower's previous games with the series' biggest launch to date.
In a press release, Ubisoft boasts of the game's "strong early momentum". Not only is it the highest rated game in the series, but it's also achieved the "best first week for the franchise in terms of total unit sell through, overall consumer spend, and season pass adoption rate". In other words, it's a hit.
The Crew 2 was supported for many years, and it seems those players have faith that Motorfest will be treated similarly. A whopping "42 million vehicles" have been imported from one to the other using Motorfest's Collection Import feature, suggesting a lot of fans are continuing their racing career by sticking with the series.
The press release also reveals the franchise as a whole has brought in over 40 million players since it got started in 2014.
Ivory Tower's Ahmed Boukhelifa is "thrilled by the enthusiastic response which has broken all franchise records", thanking the community "for their incredible support". He reiterates the studio's commitment to Motorfest for the long term: "Launch is only the beginning: we have planned regular updates with new themes and experiences, and very strong post-launch support with a mix of free and paid content, for a long time to come."

About 7 hours in and I’ve been really enjoying it. They’ve done a good job this year.
Glad it's doing well, I've loved it so far!
This is definitely on my radar on the future. I've never tried the first two games, but this entry looks like a good alternative to the Forza Horizon series.
Edit : I was reading through Eurogamer's review, and saw that it requires a constant internet connection to play. I think I'd rather give this a skip then.
The art style on the Japanese race series is truly gorgeous
does this have full steering wheel support for cars?
if not, useless to me.
Good for them! I'm not even really a big racing game fan but I decided to give the trial a go and came away pleasantly surprised. I'm not going to pick it up yet but it's definitely on the Black Friday list.
@LiquidouSnake it does for cars, and I really like it .using a g29.. but in my opinion, it is bad with the boats and planes.
I tried the beta and the free trail and am now 50/50 on buying it, and I will wait for a heavy discount, I think.
@stBoa i have a Fanatec CSL DD Pro.
i dont play SnowRunner because it doesnt work on it.
oh well. everyone loves playing driving games with a controller.
Good for them. I've loved it and think they deserve the success.
@N1ghtW1ng Yeah, that’s giving me pause as well. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but definitely an important (and annoying) caveat.
@MasterChiefWiggum
It's similar to the Hitman Trilogy (or Hitman: World of Assassination as it's known now), where the always online requirement was a bit baffling since Hitman is a purely single player experience.
I can sort of understand it for The Crew Motorfest, but I'd prefer it to be up to the player to play online or offline.
