Devil May Cry is getting a new anime adaptation, Netflix has announced via a very brief teaser trailer. Capcom's beloved action series has always been an obvious candidate for such a project, and this one sounds promising. It's being crafted by South Korean animation outfit Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Dota: Dragon's Blood, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and more), and it's being spearheaded by Adi Shankar, who was the producer on Netflix's lauded Castlevania anime.
Of course, as alluded, this isn't the first time that Devil May Cry has been adapted to the medium of animation. Devil May Cry: The Animated Series first released back in 2007, consisting of 12 episodes. The series was mostly well received, particularly by fans of the games. Here's hoping that this new project is even better. It's "coming soon".

THEY DID DANTE JUSTICE OH MY GOD
I only heard of the rumoured existence of a Devil May Cry anime fairly recently, though I've been itching to see it in action ever since and the brief tease we got in this trailer has me incredibly excited to see the full thing when it eventually comes out. Looking incredibly SSSTYLISH!
I'm all in for this, though I'd like DMC 6 as well. It looks like it could be fun, but I do wonder if I'll have a particular attachment to Dante's voice that I cannot shake.
I suppose we can expect Dante swearing most of the time now.
That aside, I'm excited for this. The Castlevania Netflix series has been great and I expect the same here
@Ashina i think dmc devil may cry showed dante shouldn't swear regularly lol
Hopefully they have all the main cast in it but I suppose it depends when its taking place
Come on, they’ve got to get to Viewtiful Joe eventually!
Oh yeah! Heck yeah! It looks fantastic!
Devil May Cry can work really well as an anime adaptation. Really looking forward to it.
I'm really excited for the Scott Pilgrim adaptation.
I'm worried for Dante's VA though. Keep in mind that Capcom removed Reuben Langdon from Street Fighter 6 due to some of his tweets. I hope he is in this anime because his voice is just perfect.
Nice to finally see the show in action, but if there is no Vergil in it I'be sad.
I'm also curious where it will be set in the timeline (assuming Capcom wants the show to be canon like the 2007 anime) because Dante looks kinda close to his DMC1&2 appearance imo.
The 1st anime was great, so high hopes fo this one too!!
@QuietintheCorner According to NicheGamer he was basically anti-forced-vaccination and anti-lockdown. So he was just fired on the spot. Ridiculous in my opinion regardless of your political standing
@QuietintheCorner It was something to do with political issues from what I've read in an article before sf6 was released.
Funny that they didn't keep Onimusha for their gaming adaptation showcase.
@nessisonett viewtiful Joe (also) already had an anime adaptation. My capcom picks would be okami and god hand.
The have also announced a Tomb Raider Anime.
Netflix really going at it with these. I guess Castlevania was fun, and Arcane was really good, but most of the other animated series based on games that they released were a bit subpar. Hope these are good.
@nessisonett yes please
@Kanji-Tatsumi It's pretty silly because Reuben has always been known as that type of guy, being involved with other types of conspiracy posting like aliens and stuff. Covid has been very politiced and it seems the presumption is that you're on the right wing for being against lockdowns and such, but Reuben's always struck me a left wing guy if anything. More of a new age hippie type though, as opposed to a neolib US Democrat party type.
All this said, I'm not entirely sure if the recast is because of his views, a decent chunk of other VAs from SF4/5 were replaced too. Hideaki Itsuno seems to have a personal friendship with the guy so I think we'll find out whenever the next DMC game comes out. The anime could go either way since it's been licensed out.
@Coolmusic According to Wikipedia, it did say Vergil will be in the show.
@anoyonmus : Thats good.
@Kanji-Tatsumi some extra context, he confirmed the SF recast wasn't about his tweets.
